NOTE: This guide is only for singleplayer/Co-Op HL1 mods. If you don't like it, make your own guide. IF YOU DON'T SEE A MOD THAT YOU LIKE IN THE LIST, FIRST CHECK THE BOTTOM OF THE GUIDE BEFORE COMMENTING! IT MAY BE PLANNED TO BE ADDED IN TIME. First off, there seems to be a lot of confusion with newbies on what mods are for games like Half-Life, Quake, Duke3D, etc... Half-Life mods are different from your typical Skyrim mod. Most Skyrim mods are just skins or new items added into vanilla Skyrim. Half-Life mods are typically new games with different levels, stories, characters, weapons, and so on. A mod that replaces the look of items in the game are called skins or model replacements . That means you can have skin/model replacements for mods like 'They Hunger'. Other minor mods are typical called add-ons . All of the mods on this list are for GoldSrc , the original Half-Life engine. That means you cannot use your copy of Half-Life: Source, which is on the Source engine. The mod begins with some impressive Gman voice acting and a cutscene. If fact, you'll see plenty of cutscene in this mod. As for the gameplay, its your standard Half-Life gunplay. The pull of Absolute Redemption is its half-serious tone, it isn't above having a bit of dark humor. The locale are varied and interesting and the the location that stands out the most is "Half-Park", a grisy amusement park full of working rides and games. Give it a try. Without even waiting for Valve to make the first move, DAVLevels decided to make a mod that satisfied those demands. Azure Sheep was the result of that. The interesting thing about Azure Sheep is that you are paired with a partner that is similar to Alyx from HL2 before HL2 was even released. RELEASED: Mar 18, 2015 DEVELOPED BY: Zoonyarts GAMEPLAY: Modified Half-Life DOWNLOAD (ModDB) Brutal Half-Life is a mod inspired by Brutal Doom. If you are familiar with Brutal Doom then you already know what this means. First of all it, it ups the amount of gore in the game. You can easily blow the limbs off your enemies. Watch your enemies torn under your merciless prejudice. A couple of new weapons have been added. The SAW from Opposing Force makes its appearance in this mod. You also get to weld the awesome power of the BFG 9000 from Doom. Other weapons have been modified. For example, the pistol has a detachable silencer and the double blast from the shotgun pushes you back a bit. Gordon also has a new attack. He can release a punishing kick that causes certain enemies to fall back on their aces. This makes close encounters a more feasible option. Its still in very early beta at the moment. I am sure that the developer will continue to expand on this concept. I can't wait to see whats next. This re-designed mod has been in development for more than 7 years by the same author. This is classic Half-Life gameplay through and through. You better be a master at crouch jumping before you even consider this. This is mainly aimed at Half-Life veterans. The levels are huge and length is considerable. The modder is good at catching the player off guard so expect plenty of surprises. I'd say its very good at capturing the feeling of the original Half-Life. If you want more Half-Life gameplay, but grow tired of the original campaign after the 100th time, this mod is for you. https://store.steampowered.com/app/223710/Cry_of_Fear/ RELEASED: Apr 25, 2013 DEVELOPED BY: Team Psykskallar GAMEPLAY: Survival Horror WALKTHROUGH by NoNamed This mod is now a standalone game and can by downloaded off Steam without a Half-Life installation. Cry of Fear is a psychological single-player and co-op horror game set in a deserted town filled with horrific creatures and nightmarish delusions. You play as a young man desperately searching for answers in the cold Scandinavian night, finding his way through the city as he slowly descends into madness. With a strong emphasis on cinematic experience, immersion and lateral thinking, players will be taken on a nightmare rollercoaster-ride through the grim streets of Fäversholm and beyond. Not everything is as it seems... While this is technically not a HL mod anymore, how can I mention Afraid of Monsters without mentioning Cry of Fear? Cry of Fear is made by the same team that gave you Afraid of Monsters and the two should be considered companion pieces. This is a quality horror experience and any fan of classic Resident Evil style gameplay should start playing this immediately. The story takes place in Russia at the secret plant called "Object E7" or "Black Star" at the same time as the unexpected consequences at Black Mesa. G-Man was planning to organize three incidents of portal opening originally. First one - at Black Mesa Complex. Second one - at Black Star plant. The third place is unfortunately unknown. But thanks to the fact that the cascade reson
