How to Use the Avatar Creator

Creating an avatar starts with importing your model into Resonite. For this demonstration, I am using the Ryuvi Chipori Base model in a .blend file format and I am doing the setup in Desktop mode. If you have VR, I recommend you set up your avatar there for a smoother experience and so you can immediately test how it all fits when you're done. Obtaining Models First you need to get the files for the model which you want to turn into a model. If you need to buy a model, most artists sell their work on websites like Gumroad, Jinxxy [jinxxy.com] , and Booth [booth.pm] . Once you have the files for your model on your computer you can begin to import them into Resonite. Importing Into Resonite The easiest way to import files into Resonite is to simply drag-and-drop the files from your file browser directly into the Resonite window. When you do this, depending on the file type, you will get a window prompting you on how you'd like to import the file. For setting up an avatar, you'll want to select 3D Model . Next, select Regular / Avatar . If you know what measurements the model was exported at, select those— otherwise, Auto Scale or Auto Humanoid Height will work fine. Finally, click on Run Import! to begin the import process. Once you begin to import the model, this logo and panel will replace the previous panel. Depending on the file size of the model this can take some time, so be patient. Once importing is complete the window will disappear and your model will be in Resonite in its default pose— typically an A-pose or T-pose. A Note on Model File Types There are many kinds of 3D model files you may have when purchasing a model online. Most artists distribute their models as a .fbx or .glb/.gltf. If you have an option for which file type to use, .glb is most recommended for avatar creation. .fbx is like Pepsi— you want .glb but .fbx will do fine enough. Spawning The Avatar Creator Next, you'll need to spawn out the Avatar Creator tool. To do this, open up your Dashboard, go to the Home menu, and click the Avatar Creator button. Once you click this button, close your Dashboard and you will find a panel, two hands, and a headset model. Menu Entry Function 1. Align The Headset to The Model To start, you will need to physically align the headset with the model's head. Position and scale the headset as you like to get it to fit just right. You can do this easily by putting the headset onto the model and then on the panel, clicking through Align Head Forward , Align Head Up , Align Head Right , and then Center Head Position — this will get the positioning mostly right. You can always tweak it as needed and just click through these options again to align it. Something that helps is to size it so that the model actually "wears" the headset— so the front of the headset is flush with the face and the headstrap is worn around the back of the head. Keep in mind that the two spheres in the headset are where you will see from. If your view is obstructed (for example by your nose or hair), there are methods that allow you to remove the obstructions from your view without moving where you see from or what other users see. (I'll make a guide on that soon and link it here.) 2. Align The Hands Here you can start by clicking the Try Align Hands option. This will automatically align the hands to the model by placing their wrists together. After that you'll just need to move the hands around so that they roughly match up with the hands of the model. Try to keep the index finger, thumb, and wrist as aligned as you can get them. Once you've got the alignment done it should look something like this— with the hand's thumb, wrist, and index finger roughly lined up with those of the model. It can depend on the model you're using but for most this is fine alignment. There may be an edge case with some models where they aren't actually completely A-posing or T-posing properly. If this is the case and the two sides are not symmetrical, you will need to toggle off the Use Symmetry option and align each hand independently. 3. Position Tool Anchors While this part is technically not required, it is strongly recommended. Click Show Tool Anchors on the panel to make these purple objects appear. The cone is your laser, that's what you'll use to point at, select, click, and grab things. The sphere is your grab sphere, this is the area where you will grab anything when you close your hand. The rhombus is your toolshelf, where you can place items, tools, etc. to keep them with you without holding them. This is all up to preference, but it is recommended that you configure your tool anchors something like what's shown here. The cone a bit beyond your fingertip, the sphere in your palm, and the rhombus somewhere on the back of your hand or near your wrist. If you have Use Symmetry enabled, these tool anchors will also move on both hands. 4. Create The Avatar Once you've positioned everything, just give it all a quick once-over before finalizing it. The things done during setup can be edited later through an inspector, though it can be confusing— so make sure everything is where you'd like it to be positioned. If your avatar has face tracking then toggle on the Setup Face Tracking button so that it has everything it needs for proper tracking. Make sure Protect Avatar is toggled on and you should be good to hit the big Create button! When you do this, the model will move to the default pose and you should be able to hover your laser over it, click, and get a context menu option prompting you to equip the avatar. Remember to save your avatar! You can save the avatar by opening your dashboard, going to your inventory, and clicking the Save Avatar button at the top. Once it's saved in your inventory, you can click the icon for it once to select and then a new button, Favourite Avatar , will appear. When you click this it will set it as your favourite and whenever you spawn in you'll automatically load into this avatar when possible. --- Источник: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3711969917
