It can be difficult to find other people to socialize with in Resonite. Between low daily active player counts, private cliques, and many users defaulting to hidden spaces, one of the first barriers to entry when playing Resonite is simply finding the people to meet. Very often there may be 120 - 200 users online but only 1 or 2 dozen users visible in public sessions. It is the objective of this guide to provide helpful information and resources to enable new users to find. Where is everybody? One of the first things that may cause a new user confusion is seeing approximately 120 - 200 users online but only about 20 - 30 users in any visible session. This is because at any given time a majority of users (~75%) tend to be in sessions which most new users are unable to see because of session accessibility settings. Online user count as of 24/03/2026 at 23:00 UTC-5 on a Tuesday night Individual Accessible (Anyone/Registered Users) Sessions: 16 Users in those sessions: 40 How Session Accessibility & Visibility Works It is helpful to understand how session accessibility functions and how that affects which sessions you are able to see and join. Hosts of a session are able to set restrictions on what kinds of people can join their session; going from the most accessible, Anyone, to the most restricted, Private. If a host of a session has selected a setting which bars you from entry then it also bars you from seeing the session in any lists. You can only see sessions which you are also able to join . In order from least to most accessible session visibility: Private (invite only): Nobody can see the session until they are individually invited by the Host. Contacts: Only direct Contacts of the Host can see and join the session without a need for an invite. Contacts+: Only direct Contacts of the Host plus the Contacts of users present in the session can see and join the session without a need for an invite. Registered Users: Any user who has registered an account on Resonite can see and join the session without a need for an invite. Anyone: Any user may see and join the session without a need for an invite. Note: There is a setting labeled Don't show in session lists , which if the host enables will mean that even if you would be able to join the session based on its accessibility setting, you still cannot see or join the session until someone inside sends you an invite. How this affects you If you have just joined Resonite you will not have any contacts added. This means you will only be able to see and join sessions which are set to Anyone or Registered Users. After you meet another user and add them as a contact, if they are in a Contacts+ session or hosting a Contacts session, you will be able to see the session they are in on their profile in the Contacts list as well as in in the Active Sessions tab in the Worlds menu. What is a Mentor? Mentors are users in the community who have volunteered to help onboard new users. They are part of an official system which aims to verify these users are suitable for introducing new users to the platform. Mentors are usually more than happy to greet you to Resonite, show you fun things you can do, help you with avatar setup, and introduce you to other users and communities. Who is a Mentor? If you see this icon above a user then they are a Resonite Mentor! Feel free to approach them and kindly ask for their help. Mentors are not 24/7 on the clock and are not obligated to help, so they may not always be able to help you. But if you are polite and request their assistance and do not demand it they are usually willing to help onboard you or direct you to someone who can. Often times they will happily hang out with you and can be very helpful in getting you into a social circle with others who you can meet. Where are Mentors? You can often find Mentors in most populated public sessions. There are a few specific spaces though where you will more easily find Mentors or someone who is looking to help onboard new users like yourself. Session Host Schedule Notes The first part of finding other users is knowing when most people are online. Using Resonite's SteamDB page [steamdb.info] you can see that the game hits its highest peak each day around 21:00 UTC-5 (Eastern Standard Time) with about 250 users. This is because by this point, most west coast American users are now off work (18:00) and you also still get some of the European night owls where it's between 1:00 to 3:00. And then during the week, the most popular days to play Resonite are typically Friday and Saturday, when most events occur. How time affects you If you want the best chance of meeting other users when you're new to Resonite, try logging on sometime around 21:00 UTC-5 on the weekend. If you live in a European or Australian time zone then logging on around 21:00 local time also works well as there are many sub-communities on the platform that gather in those time zones. This gives you the best chance of encountering other users just due to sheer count of people. Because Resonite allows users to host 24/7 headless sessions there are many spaces where people tend to congregate on a regular basis. If you're trying to find people it can be helpful to know where people regularly hang out so you have the highest chance of encountering people who can help introduce you to others or give you any assistance you may need as a new user.
