There are a number of ways to organize books, and the way described here is just one. This is intended to be an easy way to place books so that you always know if you've already placed some and you don't duplicate shelf locations. You have to manually place at least one book in each shelf location in order to keep them in this order, if you use the Homebound spell with shelves empty it will place books based on its own order, not this one.
