Fundamental Beginner's Guide

Bomb Farm is a free-to-play idle RPG: you build up a squad of "bombers," send them off to blast their way through stages, and let them keep working while you're away. A few early reviewers have described it as hitting a "classic Bomberman nostalgia" nerve, and at least one longtime player pointed out that the core loop — bombers auto-clearing a grid to farm resources — feels a lot like Bomb Crypto, an older blockchain idle game. Nobody's confirmed any actual connection between the two studios, but if you've played something like that before, the general shape of Bomb Farm will feel familiar fast. On top of the idle-farming shell, it layers in real RPG systems: hero roles and abilities, gear forging, a massive Path of Exile-style skill tree, and a Steam Community Market where rare drops can be traded between players. Your bombers automatically destroy props (rocks, crates, obstacles) in each stage to generate gold, materials, and gear drops. Multiple reviewers specifically call this a "true idle" experience that doesn't demand constant micromanagement — you check in, adjust your squad, and let it run. You can maintain three separate teams and rotate between them to keep your mine running nonstop, and once you're built up you'll be fielding up to 9 heroes at once. Destroying props is the actual backbone of your progress — there are dedicated milestones for doing it a lot (the game tracks players who've destroyed 1,000 props, and separately players who've ground through 50,000), so don't be surprised that "break rocks" stays relevant well into the midgame. Beginner tip: don't obsess over constant manual play. The whole point of the genre is that it rewards you for checking in periodically, not sitting there watching it. Bomb Farm has a referral/bonus code system for new players, and I wanted to pass mine along here since a chunk of you reading this are probably brand new. Code : F-LMV2PBF9 If you enter it as a new player and then clear Stage 151, you'll unlock: 💰 10,000,000 Gold 🐾 1x Hero Cage (Normal) 💎 50 Crystals This is my own personal code, not an official developer promo — I'm sharing it because it's a small mutual win (you get a nice head start once you hit stage 151, and it helps support this guide). I'll add a screenshot walking through exactly where to enter it and what the confirmation screen looks like soon, since it's not always the most obvious menu to find on a first playthrough. Where to enter it: 1. Open the Store menu 2. Tap the small gift/bag icon along the top of the Store screen 3. Select the "Welcome" tab on the left sidebar 4. Paste the code F-LMV2PBF9 into the box and tap Accept 5. Keep playing normally until you clear Stage 151, the reward pays out automatically A couple of honest notes: like most systems like this, it's meant for genuinely new accounts rather than repeat redemptions, and exact reward amounts are ultimately set by the game itself, so treat the numbers above as what's currently on offer rather than a permanent guarantee. Heroes fall into four roles: Attacker — your damage Support — buffs/utility for the rest of the squad Collector — leans into resource gathering (important for farming efficiency) Specialist — a more situational/hybrid role Across the whole roster there are 20 unique hero abilities, and each one can be leveled individually from 1 up to 10. Heroes themselves level up to a cap of 500, and duplicates matter: feeding copies of a hero into a "ritual" system lets you push that hero up to 3 stars, which is a real, tracked milestone — not just a cosmetic side-grade. Hero rarity runs across five tiers, with Legendary and then the ultra-rare Mythic sitting at the top. There's also a per-rarity "Home" building (five total, one per rarity) that you can individually level up to 20 — think of it as a long-term investment tied to whichever rarity tier you're currently swimming in. Beginner tip: don't scatter upgrade materials evenly across your whole roster early on. Pick 9 heroes you actually plan to field, favor a healthy mix that includes at least one or two Collectors, and concentrate your resources there instead of spreading thin. Gear comes from sealed drops that you reveal, and it scales on two separate axes: Item level, which comes from the drop itself and goes up to 300 at the top of the drop table. Forge upgrades, applied afterward at the anvil, running from +0 to +15. Here's the part beginners trip on: +8 is the "safe" limit. Upgrading up to +8 is treated as low-risk, but pushing past it into +9 through +15 is explicitly framed as risky — the achievement for hitting +15 literally describes it as "surviving the odds." Translation: don't dump your only good weapon into high-risk upgrades the moment you hit +8. Stockpile spare materials and gold first, and only gamble on a piece you can afford to lose or that you have backups for. Like heroes, gear also has a rarity ladder that tops out at Mythic, and duplicate gear can be fused for stars in the same spirit as the hero ritual system. Bomb Farm's skill tree is described by the devs as a huge, Path of Exile-style web of nodes that applies to your whole squad rather than one hero at a time. It's easy to get tunnel vision and start pumping points into damage the second you unlock it — but for a beginner, that's the wrong priority. Put your first points into anything that boosts Gold and resource-related stats before you touch combat nodes. Here's the reasoning: this is an idle game, so a gold/resource bonus compounds across every single stage you clear — including the ones you clear while offline. Damage nodes only help you in the moment; economy nodes help you for the rest of the game. A rough priority order for your first chunk of points: Gold Gain / resource-find nodes : whatever they're labeled as on your specific tree Collector-related stat nodes : since that role is tied to gathering General clear-speed nodes : clearing easy stages faster = more gold ticks per hour Only then start branching toward Attacker/Support survivability, once your gold engine is actually running Exact node names will differ depending on where your tree branches, so treat this as a philosophy — economy first, combat second — rather than a fixed screenshot-perfect path. Once more players hit the midgame and a real optimal route shakes out, I'll update this section with specifics. The campaign runs across 5 worlds and 5 difficulties, in this order: Easy → Normal → Hard → Very Hard → Inferno. There are 600 stages total, and clearing stage 600 on Inferno is what actually finishes the entire campaign — so don't panic thinking you need to hit 600 on your very first pass through Easy. Watch out for timer gates: the game introduces a timed clear-gate mechanic starting right around stage 10. If you're breezing through the first several stages and suddenly stall out, this is probably why — it's worth checking your squad's clear speed and gear before repeatedly throwing yourself at a gated stage with an under-leveled team. Beginner tip: don't rush blindly into a higher difficulty tier just because Easy feels slow. Difficulty tiers appear to reset the ramp, so going in under-geared usually just means grinding the same wall on a harder setting. Gold is your bread-and-butter currency — earning a lifetime total of 10,000,000 is treated as a genuine milestone in-game, so don't feel behind if you're nowhere near that in your first sessions. Crystals are the premium-feeling currency used for rarer unlocks. Gemstone materials (Citrine, Emerald, Sapphire, Aquamarine, and similar) drop as you play and are earmarked for future upgrade systems — hold onto them even if you're not sure what they do yet. Keys drop from clearing stages and are used to open chests. Fair warning from early community feedback: key drop rates have felt inconsistent to some players right after launch (some report going from fr
