Most of the players struggle in their very first experience with the game so don't go for hard mode and don't expect to beat everyone on your first try. If you actually did well you can disregard my suggestions - you don't need them. Start your 1st campaign - pick a starting lineup you would like to try and just experiment If you had issues or struggled - don't worry, you have learnt a lot already, drop the campaign before seaason 2 Start your 2nd campaign - pick a different starting lineup and try to build on your previous experience while trying something new It likely still felt rough - again, you have build new experience and tested your thoughts from the previous run, drop before season 2 Start your 3rd campaign - I believe this one will be where it will click so pick the starting lineup you would like to try If you are not satisfied with the result of the first season feel free to restart your 3rd and 4th campaings early too - you won't be the first. To do it. Just don't get annoyed at yourself or the game and enjoy the challange qs it will bring more satisfaction once it works out. So the general idea is to learn the game, enjoy your time and don't be afraid of admitting defeat - the game is designed to be a challange. And once you get accustomed with normal difficulty you will likely seek more challange on hard very soon. The game offers a lot of tactical variety: characters having different personalities and traits deep customisation of personal tactics starting grid + starting instructions You have to try things out just to see how they work in game but there are two important thing you need to know that: no matter what you set in your tactics, your fighters have mind of their own - your tactics are mere suggestions that they will try to execute based on the battlefield situation but there is no 0/1 switch and personalities still play their role even with tactics in place it's not a solitaire, your opponent has a gameplan of their own and they will love to disrupt yours Now, in terms of tactics there are different strategies that can work but you have to fit the right people for the right job... Or rather find the tactic that works with what you have available. Very popular tactics involve strong frontline with supports in the back like: 2 tanks, 2 healers, 1 range dps 4 melee, 1 healer 3 melee, 2 supports They are a safe bet early game as at lower levels melee characters have usually an easier time than ranged ones. But you can actually do a lot more if you get the right people for the job - it is all about the philosophy you try to employ. While the strats above usually focus on sustain, control and total domination they are not undefeatable, while I won't list all potential tactics because (1) there are too many of them and (2) it would strip the fun of experimentation I will talk about different roles below and their respective pros and cons. While there are a lot of characters I generally divide them in 3 groups with 3 subgroups each. It is worth mentioning that some of the characters (especially melee) can fit in 2 subgroups based on skill choices, though dominating theme of the kit usually points to the main role they fit. Melee (or close range) Tanks they just survive they can act as half time supports designed to peel for your backline you can never go wrong with CC they are the sole reason your team doesn't melt within seconds playing 2 or 3 of them is a safe bet, 1 is risky but could work with good team composition the only type I'd not recommend dropping altogether Assasins fragile good damage potential (usually burst damage) high mobility design to jump the backline make your opponent's formation crumble (by forcing their front line to peel for the backline) set them to flank and set target at anything you like that is not tanks 1 works well but 2 could work it you want to finish fights within 10 seconds by testing who melts first Roamers if you want them to tank you will lose but they can survive longer than assasins they basically roam the battlefield (sometimes) causing chaos and damage everything they can reach you can't go wrong with a CC watch out for friendly fire pair with designated tanks you can pair 1 or 2 with 2 tanks but they have to bring a lot value as you don't have much slots left adding 2 of them might be the best bet to try getting away with 1 tank Ranged DPS Shooters they focus on just shooting their opponents they abilities kostly help them shoot better and more reportedly weaker than other DPS options usually can fit 1 good CC you can work with 1-2 of them Abilities casters their kit focuses on big impact abilities if you want range DPS, they are what you think about they will be top damage if you can keep them alive you can get 1 AoE CC ability they usually have acces to 1 defensive ability - it is not a bad choice watch out for friendly fire using 1-2 is safe, maybe 3 with 2 tanks diving their backline before they can reach your casters, but it is very aggressive setup CC casters ability casters with more CC options but lower damage output the main use is getting these strong AoE CC skills - the more, the merrier they usually have acces to 1 defensive ability - it is not a bad choice - but worse than for the DPS types watch out for friendly fire add 1 at most, I can't think of a way to fit 2 safely - perhaps with just 1 tank up front but very aggresive Supports Healers just heal and shiled through everything and if somehow someone dies you can revive them you can consider taking a deffensive skill based on your tactics if they get a chance to get a good CC then take it you can't go wrong with them best to have 1 or 2 but as long as you can outheal opponent's damage then use hiwever you like yes, you can play without them Disruptors focus on messing with your opponents if you get annoyed but opponent support, this is the type main focus is getting CCs going in one way or another they can heal (if you don't want to have designated healers) they can buff their defensive skill is usually a CC which means it is a must-have best to have 1 or 2, I very much doubt you can win anything with 3 (as you would pair them with 2 tanks to not die in 10 seconds) Specials unique supports that can't fit in either of the other support groups they will have access to abilities that can't be clearly called CC or heal they usually still can heal they usually still can CC they sometimes can buff they have access to some form of defense that is worth consideration I'd recommend using 1, 2 if you insist, more would be either a suicide or gamebreaking (likely the former) There are a lot of things worth mentioning and I surely don't know all of them but I will try to focus on things that can help you with early game. assist focus is the best targetting type you can get (it might be a placebo but) if you have a fighter that you want to initiate fights set him to initiator (it might be a placebo but) set your tanks to intercepting use personal tactics as they all matter... just don't overdo it - use only the ones that you need to execute your gameplan don't get attached to your starting 3 fighters, they usually roll bad enough that 2 of them are gone before midseason on your first day buy 3-4 promising fighters instead of just 1 base your tactic on what fighters you have instead of forcing your tactic onto fighters that can't execute it use F1-F4 to influence the battlefield - especially in FFA arena don't stress over rare and legendary skills - they are great but usually fighters bring more value if they keep 1-2 of the less common options buying fighters that could fit your team just to see how they develop is fine and selling fighters that you won't use is never a bad decision but selling main roster fighters often hurts as it's not so fast to level up new ones it's easier after recent patches selling relics is a good source of big iincome early on but keeping good relics is also fine winning fights is more important than a fe
