Where to start? Bugs Definitely the bugs. They're far easier because you can actually see them. How to know that it's prismatic? It'll have a colorful shimmer on it and sparkles. You'll know. But I did also spend a ridiculous amount of time on it. There's about 194 hours on the save file. How many in game days? 267 for the bugs (but the snails were broken for awhile so the number is skewed). 333 for the fish. Why did you do this? I recommend catching all the bugs you can anyway, and that strategy also means you shouldn't miss seeing prismatic bugs. I'd play through the game naturally and find them. Chisel is the totem frog by Marina. They are the reason I told you to stock up on shells, tin cans, garbage, seaweed, algae, and molten rocks. They can give you a special kind of bait called sugarstone. This has a better rare fish rate than magic bait, and it increases the odds of catching prismatics. Unfortunately, Chisel doesn't like to give a lot of them. Personally, I've seemed to have had days where Chisel gave me sugarstone (or a different one of the rare drops) more often than others, but I've been told the prismatic hunt drove me insane. I've also heard others say they noticed a drop in rewards the more you feed Chisel in a day. (This may apply to all the totem frogs together). The Reed-->Cinder-->Chisel Strat This, this is the culmination of my insanity. Ok, so: Reed Gives you burnt food to feed to Cinder. I advise using the multi/autocook on Stir Fry Veggies. Choose to make 10 and intentionally burn them. Yes, this is why I said to stock up on veggies. My two backups were mixed fruit and honey candy Put some music or a show on. If you count each group of 10 as "1" that's a total of 99 batches that you can hold. Cinder Gives you tin cans you can directly feed to Chisel and bad bait that can be used to fish up trash for Chisel. Probably want to keep that show or music on. May or may not have diminishing returns the more you do it in a day. We're still iffy on that. However, considering what you're looking for are tin cans and bad bait, it's not like you're trying for the high quality returns anyway. Hypothetical diminishing returns may affect Chisel though, so be careful. Use the bad bait at the Volcano specifically. That one blessing of Marina means you can sometimes get molten rocks as a bonus reward. Chisel Gives you prismatic bait. Yeah. More on the Farming Strat Stuff Fully max out your upgrades. Have ALL available space be plots on the farm. Some of them are only gonna be doable by the clicking and holding done with the upgrades. Always have seeds planted in every spot. The upgrades mean that there's a chance they'll grow overnight even without being watered. Do your planting/harvesting on rainy days to save time. Do the Basil and Cinder portions of the strat on rainy days as well. Time in the game will freeze when you're with them, but the crops will keep growing! On that note, do some fishing on the rainy nights since fish bite more often (remember, you also need to none rare type fishes' prismatic forms, so you may want to try the mid-tier bait depending on your RNG luck). Even if you plan on doing a long fishing session, break it up so you can harvest. Buy as many seeds as possible. Focus on vegetable first, but go ahead and grab the fruits too. The farther you get in the Reed-->Cinder-->Chisel strat you get, the less of an issue money is gonna be. The bonus pearls you get thanks to Marina add up nicely and more than earn back your vegetable budget. Likewise, Chisel will also be giving you hydro crystals which will allow you to cause rain. I don't think I need to elaborate on that :P Other Things I don't know man, go fish. My least caught fish were glacier and coral, so maybe wait on those. Except sugarstone has higher rare fish chances, and I wound up getting the prismatic star before the other two stars for the glacierfish. Choose what feels right to you. Goliath Chonk may be one of the worst spawns in my experience. I may have gotten more of it than glaciar and coral, but it definitely felt harder. Choose the area you have the most prismatic fish left in to start. It'll increase the odds of you getting one you need. The amount of shiny lunarsquids you get is not my fault. There isn't a special reward for this, but hey it looks cool! Full-Star Compendium I didn't count how many bugs I had upon catching the final prismatic variant. But upon catching my final prismatic fish (a tideweaver, on my final piece of sugarstone), I had caught 4,229 fish.
