This guide will provide exact order of encounters so you never miss or skip past enemies. Great for a first time play through of the game. It will also include weaknesses of enemies and grind spots for notable items in the game. If you want to take away a lot of the grind feel free to download Fling's FFIV trainer from the provided drop box link. It has a 100% drop rate option which forces every monster slain to drop an item. (Results Vary) Enemies don't always drop their rarest item but it increases the odds exponentially for rare items by about 20% as opposed to 0.50%. Found more frequently inside the Mist Cave. Found more frequently to the West side of Kaipo closer to the mountain range. Also encountered on the patch of desert outside the Subterranean Lake and Antlion's Cave. Drops Silver Apples and Remedies . 020 Baron Soldier [BOSS] Encountered by entering Kaipo for the very first time. Will only attack on 021 Generals command. Destroy 2 of them to minimize damage dealt then attack 021 General. Once all 3 soldiers are defeated the General will flee and you will win the fight. 021 General [BOSS] Encountered by entering Kaipo for the very first time. Commands 020 Baron Soldier to attack on his turn, will never attack you directly. Make sure to kill him before all three 020 Baron Soldiers are defeated. Even after his defeat you still need to dispatch all three 020 Baron Soldiers to win. Glitched / Hidden Encounters 027 Bomb 029 Gray Bomb You can actually encounter 027 Bomb & 029 Gray Bomb extra early at this point. Be warned they will end you fast if you only have Cecil and Rydia in your group. Get Tellah! Walk on the two tiles located in the screenshot near the mountains / edge of the water. You'll encounter a grouping of 2 Bombs and 2 Gray Bombs. 027 Bomb & 029 Gray Bomb WILL NEVER and DO NOT DROP RYDIA'S BOMB SUMMON! Otherwise part of a scripted Boss fight on top of Mt. Weak against Fire spells or other spells in general. Weak against Fire and Curative Spells. Found on B2 but much more frequently in the North Entrance area. Almost always accompanied by 018 Water Bug. Weak against Lightning Spells. Also found much later in the adventure in the Old Waterway under Baron. 014 Toadgre Found most frequently in the North Entrance area on the staircase leading outside. Usually accompanied by 011 Gigantoad. Weak against Ice Spells. 016 Killer Fish Found just about anywhere in both these areas, but more frequently in water. Found in the Old Waterway under Baron much later on in the game. Weak against Lightning Spells. 017 Tiny Mage Found on land most frequently on B2 or the North Entrance Area. Also found in the Northern area of Damcyan Desert. Found in various locations on the Mysidian continent. Do not use magic against them or they counter with Thunder. If attacked physically and not killed they will cast Hold. Drops Silver Armlets which can't be purchased until you enter Mysidia. 018 Water Bug Found more frequently in water and on B2 and North Entrance areas. Will cure itself fully with Curaja if attacked and not killed instantly. Will flee the fight if attacked enough and not killed. Weak against Lightning Spells. Attack them with single target Lightning Spells to kill them instantly. 015 Sahagin Found most frequently in the Subterranean Lake area where Octomammoth is. Fought during a scripted event in Fabul Castle so if you miss it here, don't sweat it. Weak against Lightning Spells. 019 Alligator Found more frequently in the Subterranean Lake than in the Underground Waterway. Found more frequently in water. Weak against Ice Spells. Drops Silver Apples. 158 Octomammoth [BOSS] Boss of the Subterranean Lake. Weak against Lightning Spells. Weak against darkness attacks, such as Cecil's Dark Knight blades. There are numerous repeated encounters of enemies found in Damcyan Desert.
