IMPORTANT: The game is still in early access so this guide may be outdated when the game is fully released. To better understand the map creation you may need to learn some of the game mechanics. I recommend you go through the game or read the Cataclismo Beginner's Guide . https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3292740341 All of the options you choose here can't be changed later (except the map name) here you will enter the name of the map. (which can't be more than 25 letters) Then there'll be more options for your map. Map types Skirmish -Can customize the wave of the enemy using a wave editor -Closest to the campaign mode -Can have more than 4 spawners Endless -Can't customize the wave of enemy -Different progression system from the campaign -Need to have 4 spawners no more or less Terrain This will change the aesthetic of the map and the weather of the map The rain will make your unit under the rain have a chance to miss the target. Highlands - Clear weather Wetlands - Raining Depths - Currently unavailable. Map size Small (100x100 tiles) Medium (150x150 tiles) Big (200x200 tiles) The save file for PC will be at \AppData\LocalLow\Digital Sun\Cataclismo\SavesMP\LevelEditor\Local Cycle through different tabs with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 keys (terrain tools, mist tools, resource tools, etc) Cycle through the sub-tab options in each tool with 'tab' key (to swap between dynamic brush, additive lasso, etc) brush options: dynamic brush: ctrl + mouse wheel up/down adjusts brush size any brush: alt + mouse wheel up/down adjusts height level of brush *note that In Terrain Editor you can't change the terrain tile that has an entity on it. *Terrain Tools can change the height of the tile that have resource on that tile Dynamic Brush This tool will change the height of the terrain you choose (pointing your cursor at the number and using the scroll wheel to change the number) Useful for flattening the landscape Maximum height is 100 Minimum height is -1 to create the void Additive Lasso Add or reduce the height of the terrain (Positive number will add the height, Negative number will reduce the height) Useful for making a mountain or to smooth the edge of a cliff Fix Terrain Issues This feature will try to fix the terrain with a small gap. Every time you save the map or play the map this feature will active automatically. This may cause some issue to the your map and currently you can't disable this feature *Terrain Slope The terrain slope will generate for the tile that has 1 height difference but this is not always the case. The game will consider all nearby tiles height differences and generate the slope accordingly. To solve this problem you have to add more space for the slope to generate the way you wanted. Change the height of the mist Mist with the same height as the terrain will get covered by terrain Default level of mist is 0 Dynamic Brush Work the same way as dynamic brush from terrain tool but work with mist Maximum height is 100 Minimum height is -1 to create the void Additive Brush Add the chosen level of mist to the terrain Mist sea Change the level of the mist for entire map to the chosen level Change the ground type and place the resource Grime Change the ground type to Grime (doesn't effect gameplay) Wood, Stone, Mineral Place the resource on the chosen tile Can't build on the tile (But can build over) Unit can go through stone, mineral but not wood Environmental Debris Not a resource Unit can't go through environmental debris Can't build on the tile (But can build over) The spawn point for the enemy unit Create Spawner Create a spawner with a labeled number Resize Spawner Click and drag form the side of spawner to resize Will change the terrain to the have same height IMPORTANT: For the spawner to work it needs to have a path from spawner to citadel *The path need to be terrain(The Human/Neutral Pieces don't count so it can't find path through hanging bridge)* Copy/Paste Copy and paste the terrain (But can't copy entity on the map) Lock/Unlock tiles will lock anything contained on the tile from being edited/removed To switch from Terrain Editor to Entity Editor you have to wait for the loading screen. This is the unit that is considered yours. Automatically attack enemy units nearby.
