I've been a mabi player since about 2011 (on and off of course) and something I struggled with for years was amassing any amount of money. For some reason I could never get to one-million and getting anywhere close was a feat in itself. Coming back nearly 10 years after I first began my journey in what might be my favorite MMORPG of all time, I finally earned my riches and saw the ways that truly any player, beginner or seasoned, can begin to find their own fortune. I cannot guarantee all these tactics will get you all the money you want as fast as you want but they are a means to make money if you are willing to put in the time. Note: In the following entries I often reference the "auction house" which is not the one in Tara but instead the one on the lower menu on your screen on the far right symbolized by a scale. This is a marketplace to sell items to anyone anywhere across the server. However, a substitution to this can be a personal or player-owned shop. This is where you have a bag and a permit in your inventory (purchasable at the general store and bank respectively) and set-up shop in or outside Dunbarton (this is the recommended spot) and sell items from there. You have to stay logged in the whole time and people can only find your items by walking up to the shop, which is why I recommend the auction house where both of the prior do not apply. However, there are benefits to using a personal shop and it should always be considered. Always base your prices off the auction house, however. Key: * - for returning players ** - for players willing to pay real money It's not remarkably easy to do but increasing your luck stat improves your payoff from most of the following tactics since luck can, among other things, increase drop rates and potential for lucky gathers (when gathering yields more than one drop per action). If you're sub cumulative level 1000, your means of increasing luck are through titles and specific enchants [wiki.mabinogiworld.com] . If you're above cumulative level 1000, putting a lot of your potential points into luck will be of great help. By no means, however, is a high luck stat or any luck at all required for gold-making to be successful. Here is a preview of the screen where you would assign potential stat points--I only logged in points to STR and DEX for my talent, which is not necessary for money-making. It might seem tedious to some but picking up every drop (or almost every drop, I'll get there) of gold in a dungeon or in the wild really makes a difference. Once you reach dungeons past Alby Beginner or Basic, your drops from mobs are generally 100+. Once you get to this point it is understandable to leave the 9 gold or even 60 gold piles lying around, but early on, pick them all up. This is not going to make you rich beyond your wildest dreams, but instead it builds a good habit and helps pay for beginning expenses like weapon repairs and potions. Potential: sub 100 gold to thousands of gold Shadow missions are a type of "dungeon", if you will, where your character is sent to a spooky version of UIadh. There are mobs unique to the realm and some even have unique skills. They're a boat-load of fun in my opinion and they provide some very good gold drops (in the tens of thousands). Keep in mind these missions are a bit more rigorous than traditional dungeons because of a strict time limit imposed on most missions. You can find shadow missions in either Tara or Taillteann on the board designated for such by the Stonehenge Temporary Headquarters and the Taillteann Headquarters respectively. Potential: Thousands/tens of thousands of gold I have struggled with this in every game I've played, particularly Nexon games, but there is money to be made in selling the things you think you'll need for later. Those 30 phoenix feathers you have even though you don't fight with pets/partners or party members? Sell them. Those mana potions you don't use because you don't use a lot of mana generally? Sell them. That lute for when you someday become a bard? Sell it. You'd be surprised how little you miss things you think you need to hang onto, especially when you have more gold in your pouch and bank account. Granted, a lot of things we mabi players hoard aren't worth a lot, it is important to clear out our inventories every now and then and make space and a quick buck. Given this, never stop checking the auction house before selling to a vendor. Something you have that seems useless, like common leather or magic powder, is actually pretty valuable on the auction house (~5k and ~15k respectively). Generally, I live by the rule: "if you don't have a use for it now and it's not practically unattainable, sell it". Yes, there are some things you should hang onto if they're very rare because they can very well gain value over time and if you have the space, why not keep a very rare item. But for more common and even uncommon finds, if you have no immediate use, send them to the auction house or a nearby vendor. Potential: sub 100 gold to millions of gold Mabinogi prides itself on being a "fantasy life" where you can not only engage in combat but learn "life skills" like weaving and cooking. A great way to earn money is by conquering one or more of these skills. Lots of life skills rely on gathering and gathering takes time, something a lot of advanced mabi users don't have a lot of or don't like to use a lot of on things like gathering. That's where you come in. If you can spare the time, invest in making or collecting crafting items like yarn, fabric, ore, leather, etc. These items can really be of value on the market and since many are not uncommon to find or make (especially if your level of skill is high) so you can get them in high quantities and make big bucks in one swift auction house listing. Some of the life skills I've seen to be most useful are weaving, herbalism, and potion making. Below are some prices at the time of making this guide of common leather and silk, both of which are craftable or collectible! Potential: Thousands to hundreds of thousands of gold As mentioned in the previous section, herbalism is a valuable life skill when it comes to making money. Herbs are the backbone to all potions and are found in patches in the wild or in dungeons but you can make patches in your own homestead as well. In fact, you not only can but should put patches in your homestead and a lot of them. First, level up your homestead to level 4 from growing crops. From there you can start making base herb patches which yield the most common herb which is involved in most all potions. You'll need 30 herbs in your inventory to make them which should be an easy feat with patches found in places like the woods next to the logging camp or the grassy areas south of Dunbarton. Some dungeons even have one or two rooms with about 3 herb patches in them of varying types. Second, make profit. Well, it'll take a bit longer than that. You will need to build up a collection of many patches (I'm talking 10+ of each) of all different herbs before you'll really see the money. But it's not to easy you won't have any money at all to begin with, no! Base herbs are about 1k each so you'll build up a comfortable profit that later moves into herbs worth consistently 2500+, some are more often around 5k. If you would like, experiment with making potions as well. The basic HP potion market doesn't allow much money to be made but specialty potions are of more value and worth looking into but require more skill level, more potential failure, and more money for resources. Below is the beginning of my herb farm on my newest character on the Nao server--this farm can bring in at least 100k a day and it is still fairly small with mostly base herbs! Potential: Thousands to hundreds of thousands of gold This I can only recommend if you have some wealth built up and are comfortable with the market you are dealing with.
