How to Play Maul

1. Always take an Advanced Repair Gear if you plan to ram people with your Maul. Not taking this component will allow the enemy to stop you in your tracks before you can get into ram range. If caught in the open with no track repair modifiers, you can quickly lose most of your health or straight up die. 2. The Maul is an opportunist. Stay behind cover until the enemy either pushes into you or gets distracted. Maul has some of the highest instant damage potential in the game, so when you strike, strike them hard and fast. 700 HP is the threshold where you can instantly kill the enemy with a shot + Ram combo. 3. Never push into three or more tanks. If you get surrounded by three tanks, you're probably going to die before achieving any of your goals. Instead, stay far enough away from the group of enemy tanks such that your frontal armor remains effective at blocking their shots. In this way, you can occupy the attention of that group of tanks until your team finds the time to back you up or win elsewhere. If possible, use terrain to split the enemy group up into a series of 1v1s that you can win one after another. 4. If your team has a lot of snipers (three or more), your goal is either to defend your snipers from enemy flankers or to spot enemies for them by taking forward positions within their sight lines. You are part of the defensive net protecting these snipers from flankers so they can deal damage, so don't let the enemy slip past you. 5. A Pocket Valor (Valor buddy that heals you) will allow you to make aggressive plays in a Maul that would otherwise be impossible on your own. 6. Wait for your team to catch up before making your sprint from whatever cover you are in to the enemy. Maul is the fastest heavy tank, so it can often leave other heavies behind it without realizing it. You want your teammates to draw attention from you so you can assassinate the enemy while their guard is down or split their attention between multiple tanks at once. 7. An Alecto with enough energy to blink is a Maul's worst nightmare to face. Distance is the greatest source of safety when facing an Alecto. If you find an Alecto at close range without enough energy to blink, kill it with your ram before it can get enough energy to blink. When facing an Alecto with energy, think of the ram as a getaway tool to create distance and survive long enough to face them with your frontal armor again. 8. Handbrake (Default Spacebar) is your key defensive tool in a Maul. It lets you rapidly turn your tank to deflect shots that would otherwise hit your vulnerable treads sticking out on either side of your ramming plow and the vent shoulders to either side of your turret. A carefully timed brake turn in response to an enemy aiming at your frontal weak-spots can mean the difference between life and death (but try not to be too predictable in your turning or they will bait you into exposing even more green area to shoot). 9. Handbrake is also an aiming tool for your Ram. If an enemy is trying to avoid your Ram and your regular turn speed isn't enough, a handbrake turn can make up the difference and give you a better intercept angle. 10. Never hold still if you are spotted and in the open. The Maul has small weak spots that snipers need to aim carefully for in order to damage you from the front. Wiggling back and forth erratically while moving forwards or backwards will let you bounce these shots surprisingly often. 11. The Maul can beat any tank in a 1v1 fight except an Alecto with energy. Atlas in tight quarters is another situation you want to avoid. When possible, ignore or avoid the enemy Atlas entirely and go after the tanks supporting him instead. A lone Atlas is infinitely easier to fight than an Atlas with friends, so go and kill his friends first. 12. The Ram Ability cancels all fall damage and accelerates your fall speed significantly . Cliff diving onto enemy tanks will deal a huge amount of damage to the tank under you if positioned correctly. 13. The Ram's damage is velocity-based. An enemy moving towards your ram will take a lot of damage while an enemy running away from it will take less damage. If an enemy is fleeing from you, it is smart to track them before ramming to ensure it does maximum damage. 14. Bumping the enemy outside of using your ram ability is a good way to generate the energy you need to Ram them. Last but certainly not least: You are the team's bowling ball, so go knock down some pins and send their Ark flying over the nearest ledge. --- Источник: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3798932517
