If you like my work and want to support, you can read this same guide on my blog: https://www.soloplayguide.com/games/final-fantasy-iii-pixel-remaster/guide Leveling There are 2 separate levels: character level and job level. Your character level increases your base stats. Your job level increases the job's efficiency (damage, defense, effectiveness depending on the job). Your base stats are predetermined, so it doesn't matter what job you are using. The only stat that is affected by the job is HP. HP grows when you level up your character; however, the amount of HP growth depends on what job you are using. Perfect Game The only stat you need to care about is HP growth. As I've mentioned earlier, the job you are using affects how much HP you gain when leveling up. The job that gives the highest HP growth is Black Belt , which you can get as soon as you reach the Surface World (in contrast to the 3D version, where you get it much later in the game). Read more details about how to effectively farm both character and job levels in the Leveling Grinding section. Missable Monsters and Items There are a few that you can only visit one time or before a certain point in the game. Living Woods : This tiny place is home to fairies, with no monsters and no treasures. However, you won't be able to enter after the event at Castle Hein. You need to enter this place in order to complete Adventurous Wayfarer achievement. Castle Hein : Once you get inside, you cannot come out until you defeat Hein. After defeating Hein, you will lose access to the castle. Wracked Ship : Can only be entered once, the first time you sail to the Surface World. There are no monsters; however, there are 2 chests you need to collect here. Sea Monsters : At some point in the game, you'll lose your ship, the Enterprise. Thus, you also lose access to the seas because you won't be able to sail. Lake Dohr : As long as you don't kill Leviathan, you can get in and out anytime. Doga's Grotto : You cannot enter this dungeon after killing Doga and Unei, so be sure to collect everything. Formation There are 2 positions you can set for each character: front row and back row. Front Row : You deal more physical damage and also receive more physical damage. Ideal for fighters. Back Row : You deal less physical damage and also receive less physical damage. Ideal for magic users. Ranged weapons such as Bow , Boomerang , and Throw (Ninja's ability) deal the same damage from the front row or back row. Tips & Tricks Some staves can be used as items to cast black magic spells. This allows a white mage to deal decent damage while being the support. To use a weapon as an item during battles, select "Item," then press up until you see the equipped weapon, select the weapon, and select a target. When buying items, you'll get a 5% discount for every 4 items. For example, if you buy 15 items, 12 will receive the 5% discount. Pixel Remaster Features Viewing Bestiary: There are 2 ways you can view the bestiary: (1) From the main menu, " Main Menu " -> " Extra " -> " Bestiary ". (2) During gameplay, " Menu " -> " Configuration " -> " Bestiary ". While on bestiary page, you can press Y button (or Tab on keyboard to view monster locations on the map). It provides a nice visual on the map. Unknown monsters will be displayed as question marks so you cannot rely on the in-game bestiary list. You can view a full list of bestiary here to complete your achievement. Turn on/off "Encounters": this is an invaluable feature. I normally turn it on when I want to go through dungeon quickly. Boost: The new update includes a feature " Boost ", it allows you to " EXP " and " Money " earn from battle. Just in case you don't want to spend time on grinding, this is your to-go setting. Quick Save: Use " Quick Save " frequently, especially before a boss fight. Annotation (Important read) Symbol Example What it means You start the game in Altar Cave - B3 with all party members and the default job Onion Knight . On B3, there is a switch that you have to examine to open the path. There is spring water on B2 that can restore your HP/MP and revive KO'd members. Boss: Land Turtle Just attack until it's dead. After defeating the boss, the job system is now unlocked and you receive 5 new jobs: Warrior : Good overall, able to equip swords and some heavy armor. Monk : Specializes in raw power, high in strength with good damage. White Mage : A must-have support job; you'll need a lot of healing from the white mage to survive battles. Black Mage : Can use black magic. There are bosses who are resistant to physical damage, so having a magic user will also help during boss fights. Red Mage : This job is a jack of all trades who can wield many weapons and cast both black and white magic. However, there are many drawbacks such as less MP growth, limited slots for both black and white magic, and inability to use high-level magic. Step on (3) to exit the cave. Once you appear outside, re-enter the cave for more items. On B2, there is a hole surrounded by bones. DO NOT step on it, as it will bring you back to the very beginning (B3). Simply backtrack to exit the cave. Equip these new pieces of equipment immediately. This town is just south of the Altar Cave. Enter Topapa's house (1) and talk to Topapa. Talk to the elder in front of Topapa's house (1) and give him a Potion ; he'll give you back Echo Herbs in return. Enter the INN to collect 2 items. There is a hidden passage through the trees near the INN leading to a well (3) which contains 3 chests. Pick up 2 potions near both ponds (east and west). Enter the northwest house (4) , examine the far-right candle to open the hidden door, then collect all items inside. Random things you can do: Inside INN -> Pub, you can talk to the girl dancer to watch her dance. Near the lady dancer, you can examine the piano to play music. Give the Cure spell to your White Mage or Red Mage and equip these new weapons and armor. Leave the town. Talk to the ghost inside the INN (1) , his name is Cid, who is standing between the wine shelves and the bar. Notes: Talk to the man at the campfire for a little scene. Inside the INN -> bedrooms, you can rest for free. Airship Exit the town, then walk west into the middle of the desert. Take control of the airship at the steering wheel. Once you enter the castle, head straight north into the throne room on 3F, then talk to the king. While you are inside the castle, start collecting treasures from 2F -> 1F and 2F -> 3F. Give Blizzard to your Black Mage (or Red Mage). Next, collect more treasures from both towers: If you have a Black Mage or Red Mage, I suggest you give Blizzard to either one of them now. Boss: Djinn This boss is weak against Ice, so you can use Blizzard and Antarctic Wind (Item) to quickly kill him. Castle Sasune Once you defeat the boss, you'll be teleported to Castle Sasune. Talk to the king to receive a key item: Canoe . This item allows you to cross rivers. Exit the castle. Chests/Items: I-012: Canoe - after talking the king. Kazus Town & Mythril Mines (Optional) Go back to Kazus town. A scene will occur after you walk a few steps. Enter Takka's house and talk to him; he'll upgrade your airship to be able to destroy a boulder blocking the area. You can shop for new magic, weapons, and armor if you want. Next, enter the Mythril Mines to collect 2 items. Leave the town. Go back to the Sealed Cave to pick up your airship, then fly it toward the boulder in the south of the forest. Watch a scene, then walk south to Canaan . Enter Salina's house (1) and collect items inside. Go to a small land in the southeast corner of the town (2) to pick up an Elixir . Enter Cid's house (3) , then talk to Cid's wife and give her the Elixir . Talk to Cid again; he'll move out of the way. Examine the candle to open a path to the ba
