Greetings! Thanks for checking out my Shovel Knight achievement guide--which happens to also be my first published guide on Steam. I realize for the most part, a lot of the achievements are pretty self-explanatory, but this guide offers a detailed explanation for every achievement, plus the best ways to accomplish and obtain them. There are a few achievements in which I haven't obtained yet, because I have yet to find the best way to obtain those few. Once I have, I will edit them to reflect my findings. Also note that some achievements are also glitched. So far myself and many others have found that the following achievements do not unlock upon completion: Untouched , I'm Alive! , and Shovel Economy . There may be others, and I will edit the guide if anymore are found; I will also edit out this paragraph and the Warning messages in my guide once this problem has been fixed. On to the guide! This game has 45 achievements of various difficulties. I've split these achievements up into four playthroughs of the game, making the most out of each playthrough to focus on a specific series of achievements that work well together. You can, of course, do them in whatever order or however you please, this is just to make things simpler and easier to keep track of. This playthrough is just gonna be your first time through the game. Play the game as normal, beating every stage and getting every item and upgrade. You'll also use this playthrough to complete the miscellaneous achievements. VICTORY! FINISH THE GAME. Literally just beat the game. Pretty straightforward! MUSIC LOVER OBTAIN AND RETURN ALL SONG SCROLLS. Update: I've found all the Song Scrolls in the game and am currently compiling a list of all their locations. But the break down is basically: you start with the first 5, 4 in the Village, 1 at Troupple Pond, 2 in the Armor Outpost, 1 in each Relic-centered mini-stage, 1 from the wandering boss Reize, 2 in Hall of Champions, 2 in every main stage--except Clockwork Tower where there are 3 and the final Tower of Fate stage which has 5. YOU’RE FIRED FINISH OFF THE BLACK KNIGHT WITH A REFLECTED SHOT. This should be one of the first achievements you get, if not the first one. At the end of Plains, you’ll fight your nemesis, the Black Knight. One of his attacks is the ability to blast a dark energy blast at you—a blast that can be deflected back at him for some damage. Whittle down his health until he’s nearly dead, wait until he uses that attack and deflect it back for his defeat and this achievement. ONLY YOU USE CAUTION AND COMMON SENSE AROUND CAMPFIRES. At certain points in the game, you’ll cut to Shovel Knight resting at a campfire. Jump to wake him up and before exiting the area to the left or right, dig up the campfire until it's out. Not only will you get extra gold/jewels, but you’ll feel better knowing that you prevented any possible forest fires! FIRST PURCHASE BUY YOUR FIRST ITEM. Buy your first Relic or upgrade. Duh. PUNGENT LISTEN TO ALL OF CROAKER’S PUNS. In the first town, in the area down the ladder and in the room to the right, there will be a frog man. Just speak to him repeatedly until you’ve heard all of his jokes and puns. Don’t just skip through them, enjoy them for what they are—they’re so punny! JUGGLER IMPRESS MONA WITH YOUR SKILLS. In the first town, in the area down the ladder, you can destroy the wall to the left to find a secret room with a very disinterested and bored witch, Mona. You can pay her 100 gold to play a mini-game where she will spawn falling flasks that you can smack into point pads. You’ll need to get 150+ points in a single game to impress her enough for the achievement. Literally just swing your Shovel Blade like a madman at all the flasks and you should get enough points by the end. And don't forget... you CAN hit the flasks in the air, no need to wait for them to fall. HOOPER BOUNCE ON THE HOOP KID’S HOOP FOR 5 SECONDS. In the first town, in the rightmost area, there will be a child rolling a hoop along the ground. Wait until she turns around and starts rolling it the other way, then downstrike onto the hoop repeatedly on the edge, moving along in the same direction it’s traveling; stay on it until the achievement pops. Not as hard as it looks. TROUPPLE ACOLYTE DISCOVER THE SECRETS OF THE TROUPPLE KING. Once you’ve bought a Troupple Chalice(s) from the Troupple Acolyte, go to the Troupple Pond on the overworld and you’ll trigger a fun cutscene where you’ll meet the Troupple King. Once you’ve agreed to become a follower, he and his Troupple fish will perform a funny dance number and from then on, you’ll be able to fill your Troupple Chalices with any of the 3 Ichors for free at any time. I SCREAM FOR ICHOR SAMPLE EACH OF THE TROUPPLE KING’S ICHORS. Once you purchase a Troupple Chalice(s), you can fill them with one of three different types of Ichor either by fishing up a Troupple fish from a sparkling pit or by simply visiting the Troupple King at Troupple Pond. Just drink all 3 types of Ichor. RELIC ROUNDTABLE DEFEAT AN ENEMY BY USING EACH RELIC. Just kill an enemy with every Relic, except for the Phase Locket. NICE HAT… HELP OUT ALL THE MOOCHERS IN THE FANCY SHOP. In the second town, to the far left there is a hat shop. Inside will be a mysterious man in a trench coat and 3 other villagers. Each villager will request 1000 gold for various reasons. Fulfill their requests and you’ll unlock the achievement. Beware though: once you do, you’ll be attacked by Mr. Hat, and it can be a difficult fight for those unprepared. HALL CHAMPION SOLVE THE WOES OF THE HALL OF CHAMPIONS. Later in the game, you’ll come across a mini-stage called the Hall of Champions. You cannot enter it without paying a 5000 gold fee. Once inside, a villager will let you know that you’re now trapped inside with the rest of them and also find out the Hall is haunted. In the small stage there are four main rooms with ghost enemies in them. In these rooms will also be small blue orbs that you can smack around, causing a small explosion. You need to hit these towards the ghosts to eliminate them permanently. Once each room has been cleansed of ghosts, the lights will turn back on in that area. Once all four areas have been cleansed, return the central room of the Hall to fight a giant ghost boss. He’s really not that difficult but you will have to apply the same concept of smacking the blue orbs towards him to damage him with their explosions. Once it has been killed, the area will be cleared, and you’ll get some funny dialogue referencing Kickstarter backers and then the achievement will pop. WELL MET DEFEAT ALL OF THE WANDERING TRAVELERS. A-la Super Mario, you will ocassionally find enemies wandering the world map, initiating a mini-stage if you step on their spot. From time-to-time you will also encounter unique bosses wandering the map, of which there are 3: Reize, the Baz, and Phantom Striker. However, defeating these 3 will not complete the achievement. There’s actually a 4th boss that is required—Mr. Hat from the hat shop in the second town; he doesn’t wander like the others, but he still counts towards this achievement. HALFWAY DEFEAT 4 OF THE ORDER OF NO QUARTER. Just beat the first four bosses. I have heard that there is a glitch that you can actually trigger the achievement by also just refighting the same boss multiple times, so whatever floats your boat. HEY BIG SPENDER SPEND A COMBINED 25000 GOLD. Should come naturally over time as you buy upgrades and Relics. DECKED OUT PURCHASE OR UNLOCK ALL RELICS, EQUIPMENT, AND UPGRADES. To get this, you will need to obtain and purchase the following: - 6 Meal Ticket Health Upgrades (3 from Goatician, 1 after each set of bosses) - 7 Magic Capacity Upgrades from the Magicist - The two Troupple Chalices from the Acolyte (you may need to also get all 3 Ichor types at some point, but I'm not sure) - The following Relics: Fishing Rod, Chaos Sphere, Flare Wand, Phase Locket, Dust Knuckles, Throwing Anc
