A 5 minute cat hunt with a 24$ CAD/hour asking price. Goblin economics are wild 👀 Steam being Steam, I can't leave a neutral review. I'll leave it to “recommended”, since it's one of the good 100 Cozy Games HOGs, but please read down below for the full take. Thank you! I wanted to make a little test: would a seasoned HOG player find a 100 Cozy Games title any harder after a couple of weeks without playing one? Am I the issue? Is being addicted to hidden cat games influencing my judgment in any way? Well, the answer is more nuanced than I first anticipated. Even though it felt like the full game took me longer than usual, with a couple of cats taunting me instead of just the usual 1-2, the Steam timer doesn't lie: 5 minutes to 100%. So even after taking a break from hidden object games, these little levels are still way overpriced. On the bright side, you still get a colorful environment, an amazing zoom range from full picture to needle-head size and almost instantly rechargeable hints that highlight a small search zone without hindering achievement progression. There are also the usual QoL options for the franchise like brightness, sound sliders and a full reset, plus Color and Black & White modes, with Color providing a little more challenge. I haven't played all their recent titles, so I can only compare so much, but I really enjoyed the line art here. The large, well-defined strokes fit the goblin theme nicely. Oh, and about half the cats actually look like cats this time. The main problem is that this is EXTREMELY expensive for the amount of content. At 2$ CAD on sale for 5 minutes, you're looking at roughly 24$/hour, which is more than the typical Canadian earns! XD Meanwhile, similar recent titles like Curious Paws offer 7 levels for the same price tag. You also have the usual achievement clutter with one achievement per cat, and some cats barely qualify as cats at all. A couple are essentially two dots for eyes and one could genuinely be a wooden plank without much changing once it's found. This is a hidden cat game, not general objects and creatures! Overall, my little experiment confirmed what I suspected: it's still too expensive for HOG players, whether you're a veteran who'll breeze through it or a newcomer who'll probably do the same. A short hidden picture game. I liked the color of the picture because it is vibrant. The game is enjoyable to finish. I do recommend to others if they like this type of game.
