Let me just start off by saying what a fantastic sequel this is. I already enjoyed 8BA1 a lot for its writing, but it definitely shows and feels its age. With 8-Bit Adventures 2 everything feels a lot fresher and newer - not simply because it is those things but because it's just all around a superior product. I could easily see myself going back to this in a couple years and it feeling just as solid to play as it did now. That isn't me trying to disparage the original game like Peter Molyneux throwing Fable 2 under the bus to promote Fable 3, I was that impressed with the improvements between games. I also want to say that while you don't need to have played the first game to enjoy the second one, it certainly made me feel a much deeper connection with the returning characters and the world itself. Being able to say "I remember this person!" when entering a town or recalling the adventure where the warrior, thief, and mage all met and the tribulations they went through. True sequels to games are rare, and even when they happen it's 100 apart or has little to do with the previous game. About the only other noteworthy JRPGs to do this are the Trails games. There's a fair amount of mechanics the game introduces at a steady pace, with a tutorial help message you can easily revisit in the menu at any time. Enemies are always visible on the map, so no random battles. However, if you wanna grind (like me) then just ask the friendly save point when you see 'em and ask to revive enemies! Or else you can just return to the world map and re-enter. Any time an enemy has a new item for you to steal, there is a very helpful asterisk - this * thing - by their name. Basically, there's plenty of helpful features that improve the game's quality of life. You can even set your party to *not* change between battles! If you swap characters in and out - a very useful feature in itself - after the battle is over it'll return to your starting party! I loved this so much. There are a couple exceptions where it doesn't work, but that's plot stuff so don't sweat it. After the game is over, and trust me it's pretty meaty already, there's free post-game DLC that you can do. It's pretty challenging, so if you found the game too easy somehow then the bonus bosses will probably give you something to chew on! All in all, it's a really amazing game that I enjoyed thoroughly. I sincerely hope that they'll do a third one someday.

Review: 8-Bit Adventures 2 A forma mais simples de descrever 8-Bit Adventures 2 é "underrated e extremamente bem construído". Feito na engine do RPG Maker, o jogo surpreende com uma experiencia balanceada, divertida, mecânicas muito bem aplicadas, e uma história intrigante. Não é um jogo que reinventa a roda, mas é uma das rodas mais redondas que eu já vi, com certeza. PONTOS POSITIVOS + A história é simples, porém competente o bastante, tendo um começo, meio e fim satisfatório. + As batalhas são um dos pontos altos, já que conseguem ser equilibradas, junto com uma certa customização dos protagonistas. + Pelo escopo que o jogo promete, seu preço é muito barato, vale cada centavo. Conta inclusive com uma DLC gratuita, que acrescenta mais conteúdo a um jogo já bem completo. + Os graficos retrô além de funcionarem muito bem, conta com uma atenção aos detalhes muito refinada, como a presença de cutscenes, e até mesmo quando as roupas e os cabelos dos personagens balançam com o vento. + A trilha sonora completementa bem a estética retrô. + Zero bugs. + Zero "grind" desnecessario. PONTOS NEGATIVOS - Em relação aos diálogos, como é um jogo em inglês, com bastante falas em caixas de texto sem uma imagem de quem esta falando, ou com uma cor de texto para cada personagem, junto de não ser possível passar mais rápidos esses diálogos, fica meio cansativo acompanhar a história durante sequencias longas de jogatina. - Talvez seja uma questão de opinião, mas sinto que algumas poucas partes do jogo se arrastam desnecessariamente. Uma dessas partes é por volta das 10 horas de jogo, quando o grupo se divide em dois para resolver algumas situações, e a outra parte foi você dar uma de detetive e ir atrás de respostas que poderiam ter sido feitas de uma forma muito mais compacta. Não é um grande problema, mas ainda é algo perceptível. CONCLUSÃO Apesar de alguns pontos negativos bem pontuais, eles não são um impeditivo para apreciar todo o restante da obra. Vamos aguardam por mais produções dos desenvolvedores, pois mostraram-se extremamente competentes com a criação de 8-Bit Adventures 2.

A wonderful retro style RPG with engaging combat, a good story and cast of characters, and, best of all, great pacing. It feels like the pacing of some of the classics. A strong recommendation for RPG likers.
