There is a lot to like in this game but for most people I do not recommend it. The main reason being the janky inconsitent controls. This made me want to rage quit many times and I actually did stop playing a few times. Only boredom and a thirst for achievements have gotten me through this game. I am honestly surprised the game is rated so high. I think this is mainly due to the nostaglia. The game was first released in 1989 and that shows in the gameplay. Less than 15% of players have even completed the first world which shows it is not played a lot. There are some fun puzzles and I enjoyed discovering all the different forms the blob can take. It does have some depth to the mechanics as you can use them in a variety of ways. The janky inconsistent gameplay in a puzzle platformer makes you need to have a lot of patience because quite often you will die to no fault of your own. If you have the patience then enjoy this game but if you want smooth gameplay look somewhere else. Two examples of what makes it annoying. Every move has a animation associated with it. If you select the wrong thing (which happens often due to janky controls) you have to wait for the entire animation before doing something else. Second is the skippy ball in the game. It is constantly bouncing but you can only jump with it when it is in contact with the ground. So often I was a tiny bit off on the timing and then instead of jumping over the gap I would throw myself into it. So usually I would just keeping jumping the entire time to keep a consitent rhythm. If you don't have the patience to find these 'workarounds' give this game a pass.

Puzzles so incredibly unintuitive, game frequently broken by awful AI. even the first world is not fun like other reviews say.
