A unique Age of Empires game that defines its own genre. Age of Empires III is not your traditional Age of Empires game, and that's exactly what makes it special. At its core, it has all the familiar RTS mechanics: gather resources, build your economy, advance through the ages, research technologies, and create stronger armies. But then it adds two layers that completely change how the game feels. The first is the Home City card system, which is unique to each civilization and gives you another layer of strategy when deciding which shipments and upgrades to use. The second is the Native Alliance system, where the map itself can influence your strategy through native units, technologies, and alliances. Once you start learning the strengths and weaknesses of each civilization and figuring out how to combine your faction's abilities with the native units and technologies available on the map, the game becomes surprisingly deep. In competitive multiplayer, mastering all of these systems creates a genuinely complex strategic challenge. And honestly, the graphics still look fantastic for an RTS. The art style and visual presentation give the game a distinct identity that separates it from the other Age of Empires titles. Unfortunately, Age of Empires III received considerably less attention from the developers over the years compared to the other games in the series. The remaster and new DLCs were therefore a massive step in the right direction. The player base is still relatively small compared to the other Age of Empires games, but the people who continue playing it are incredibly passionate about the game. It may not be the most popular Age of Empires, but it is definitely one of the most unique. If you enjoy RTS games and haven't given Age of Empires III a chance, it's absolutely worth trying.

So, first thing first: I never got into AoE 1, 2 or 4, although i really tried liking them and learning, but they're just not my cuppa, AoE 3 however tangled me up near instantly, it just feels... different, kinda... wacky? for a lack of a better descriptions, and that's what makes it so charming to me I can still remember getting the CD for this game, and sinking days upon days, and nights upon nights into it, probably nearly 2,5k hours The Definitive Edition changed a lot of things, took a lot of things and gave a lot of things, that's just how it is, there's a lot of changes for the worse, but more for the better! (I mean would i sink 800 hours into a game i hate? NO!) (...) (...) (...) (well... maybe, out of spite lol, but that's not the point here XD) I can only say, IF YOU WANT ANOTHER GAME LIKE AoE II TURN AWAY NOW, CHECK OUT AoE IV BUT NOT THIS, THIS IS IT'S OWN, beautiful might i add, THING The UI, the Treasures, the Homecity mechanics, all that i really adore and appreciate being in here The fact that even if some civs are stronger than others, these weaker civs still have a niche is also nice, (i dare you to underestimated the Ethiopians) It even after they canceled the work on the "Baltic DLC" (ik this ain't the full name, but lemme be lazy, also i know that typing this segment makes me type even more lol) returned a year and a half, i believe, later and... gave us the DLC! The Multiplayer Servers are still up and running, even after that announcement, the servers had maintenance, which is nice, (yeah the og version's servers are dead, but this is a review of the Definitive Edition, so it's technically irrelevant, BUT i do wanna say, they've also been supported for a really, really long time, even by the standards of back then which puts me in high hopes for the Definitive Edition)

Not a fan of fast-paced RTS games, I do even rarely play this game. But incredibly this is one of the few RTS which is well done. In fact, it's really fun, and it does have an artistic direction/style which is spot-on and colorful. Good game.

Creo que es mucho mejor que el Age of Empires IV, no lo se pero veo que las fisicas y los graficos son mejores en esta entrega.

Если говорить по существу, то очевидно, что данная версия игры является разработкой мошенников для того, чтобы состричь тонну бабла. Начнём с того, что контента в игре нет и делать в ней просто нечего. Присутствует одна старая базовая кампания на пару часов геймплея и одиночные сражения на буквально пяти картах, в которых даже БАЗОВЫЕ нации из оригинальной версии почти все заблокированы - купи. Дополнительные нации - купи. Дополнительные сюжеты - купи. Купи, купи, купи - в этой игре вопрос "открыть магазин?" вы будете видеть нажимая на большинство кнопок. Я купил игру без тонны ДЛС, и открыв её я так и не понял, а что я купил-то, возможность просто запустить игру в режиме главного меню, из которого можно перейти в магазин, чтобы ещё что-нибудь купить? Ну и отдельно поговорим про качество этого ДЕФИНИТИВ ЭДИШН. Интерфейс - просто ублюдский, он в разы хуже оригинального из игры 2006 года, и по качеству изображения, и по удобству. Он настолько плох, что мне даже сперва показалось, что может я куда-то не туда нажал, но прошерстив все настройки я понял, что нет - это действительно то, что они сделали. Графика - на дефинитив эдишн не тянет совершенно. Игра выглядит бездушно, цветовая гамма текстур смотрится не гармонично, видна рука аутсорсеров, делающих работу не в комплексе, а в частности. По сути, было просто увеличено разрешение всех текстур, но сделано это настолько безбожно, без любви к делу, что это сразу кидается в глаза. Работа есть, души нет. Разрушаемость зданий сильно пострадала - великие передельщики не смогли даже сохранить (идеальный, на мой взгляд) уровень разрушений из оригинальной игры, напомню, ДВЕ ТЫСЯЧИ ШЕСТОГО ГОДА РОЖДЕНИЯ! Теперь от зданий едва что "отламывается", эпичность сноса вражеского поселения фальконетами или мортирами стёрта под ноль. Может быть я мог бы сказать больше, но к сожалению провёл в игре всего пару часов, так как контента в ней нет, потому мало что успел подметить))) Игра - легендарная, потому очередные коршуны поспешили бездушно наваять на коленке ДеФюНиТюВ, чтобы поскорее продать, а потом продать сто тыщ мильонов ДЛС по оверпрайсу. Такова на сегодняшний день индустрия.
