Das Spiel ist nicht gerade eine Meisterleistung. Die Welt ist immer noch ein kleiner Fleck und die Auswahl große Inseln bringt nicht mehr als etwas größere Archipele. Das Anbauen von Pflanzen ist schwieriger, als in den vorherigen Teilen, wo es noch zusätzliche Samen gab. Den freien Händler kann man nicht mehr in die automatischen Routen einbinden, so dass man ständig die wenigen Waren selber auf die Insel bringen muss, um dann stetig hin- und herzufahren. Ein ruhiges Spiel ohne Gegner gibt es nicht, denn wenigstens die Königin muss dem Spieler irgendwann mit Tributzahlungen auf den Sack gehen. Spätestens dann ist der Aufbauspielspaß, wo man das Spiel einfach mal laufen lassen könnte vollends im Eimer.
