3 dlcs have beautiful synergy with each other and add interesting content that amounts to some 50 hours of new gameplay. They change what used to be endgame into more of a midgame. High Life allows you to upgrade investor and engineer residencies into skyscrapers, potentially completely transforming the way your city looks. Skyscraper residents have massive needs, but Docklands and Tourist Season make providing for them less of a chore. Docklands is arguably the most useful dlc you can get. It allows you to skip building entire production chains to save a lot of time, resources and island space. Soap factories make your island lose attractiveness? Not a problem, you no longer have to build them, you can import large quantities of soap instead. The best way to use Docklands is to set up large production of complex and expensive finished goods and exchange them for imports of natural resources, which are relatively cheap. Other popular dlcs like Bright Harvest "optimize" the game by making agriculture more efficient. Docklands beats them all by making agriculture (mostly) redundant: you no longer need to build farms when you can import. Before buying, I did research into which Anno dlcs are best and saw a lot of people complaining about Tourist Season: supposedly it's too complex and not particularly uselful. As a veteran player, I found complexity manageable and its unique boons very useful for my skyscraper city. Tourist Season allows you to build cafes and restaurants that provide wide area of effect buffs to nearby residencies, reducing their consumption of certain goods. These buffs stack! I discovered that by strategically placing Tourist establishments throughout my city and carefully selecting their menu I can reduce coffee consumption in the area by over 50%, which is big help for managing a huge investor population. A bit of a gripe. Ubisoft couldn't help itself and introduced wokeness into a game about managing supply chains: dlc that's all about building skyscrapers wants you know that it's morally wrong to build skyscrapers and enjoy, well, the high life. DLC that's all about building skyscrapers wants to promote environmentalism and degrowth. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ High Life introduces a character named Donald J. Bader, that's meant to resemble American president Donald Trump. The dialogue attempts to poke fun at him for being successful and confident man, but these are unfunny woke attempts at humor. Some DEI hire must have wrote this script, but thankfully Anno is not a narrative-driven game, and lousy writing isn't prominent enough to ruin your experience of the game.
