I usually love these very stripped down survivor open-world kind of things where you just drive off without direction and slowly build yourself up, improve your home / mobile base, collect stuff that makes you either better / gives you a more enjoyable experience, etc. Can't recommend this one though, maybe if it was 5 or 10 dollars or something but right now 25 is a little insane. The vehicle building stuff is really interesting but I don't think it translates well to the survivor game experience at least initially. You're given next to no information how to modify / edit your car and while there's a sandbox mode where you can experiment with access to everything in the main game it's a mess where you're juggling tools around and you have no idea whether you have everything you need and at least in my experience I found almost nothing interesting in my first hour, 90% of the stuff I looted even after driving a great distance away from the start were like bottles of water or pants. I found one weapon in my time and it took about 10-15 hits to kill a zombie, and most of the time driving into things at high speed didn't seem to do anything or it would just push the model out of the way. I did crash into a bear at like 100MPH and a ton of pieces flew off my car and I rolled and crashed very dramatically while the bear grunted a little bit and was mostly fine, by far that was the best part of my playtime. Worse was when I would loot the industrial areas where there were supposed to be vehicle parts and everything I swear three quarters of what you find is like flashlights or on and off switches or like the gasket that goes on a fuel pump, I know they're going more for like an in-depth complicated simulation kind of thing (which is really impressive a lot of the element they have) rather than like a mad max vehicle building kind of situation but you need to give players immediately more options and more information about how they can do some fun ♥♥♥♥ to their car. The world evokes some mystery and honestly if I were to keep playing this game it would just to be to drive to a couple of the more interesting points that you can see, but that's it. The vehicle building stuff seems very in depth and interesting but it's in service of a survival game that does next to nothing to engage the player. A lot of games release in early access with not well thought out mechanics, tons of bugs, really clunky controls or combat, etc. but are able to attract a following and audience because the strength of the concept or the few bright spots that are there are enough to win people over. This does not feel like one of those games.

This might genuenly be the worst early access I have ever laid my eyes on, It's disgusting. I wonder how the bootlicker glazer fanboys of Geometa will praise this one this time. "Oh it's not meant for that, Oh it's an early access, oh it will be better, Just refund the game bro" Absolute lobotomites. The game runs poorly, crashes constantly, and has serious technical issues. Examining the assembly reveals memory leaks and problematic loops, while audio buffer errors repeatedly spike CPU usage and cause noticeable audio lag. The development time-to-release-quality ratio simply does not add up. The same pattern is visible in Stormworks, where bugs and community feedback do not seem to receive the attention they need. At its current state, this is far from a finished game. In the tutorial, I encountered a loop involving dropping down and holding the beans that required manually jmp-ing past the problematic code to progress. I spent most of my time investigating the game with x64dbg and Ghidra, so the 20 minutes shown as playtime is nowhere near my actual time spent. What frustrates me most is that I genuinely wanted this game to be better. As a fellow programmer, seeing this level of unresolved bugs, poor craftsmanship, and inefficient use of development resources is honestly horrifying. --Update--2 They banned me from both their Anymaker and Stormworks Discord and reported my Review, Good job showing everyone what kind of a company you are Geometa.

First off to these devs, Stormworks was incredible and had one of the best building systems ever. Second, this game is definitely nothing like it. It is like they took the worst gameplay from stormworks then ruined any ability to create vehicles. You need like 30 tools to do it on this and the creative editor is still bad. They basically made another bad survival game with a terrible UI. It is incredible annoying to search through and transfer items you find with how it is set up. They also advertised this like it was another vehicle building game geared towards small vehicles. That is not really the case as it is more like dayz with some ability to build vehicles. If you ever played the campaign in stormworks you know its more like some mini games to test your vehicles. They took that not so great gameplay and transferred it to this game while getting rid of everything that made it great. I hope this game gets better but as of now I sadly cannot recommend it. I had a lot of hope for this after seeing how incredible stormworks was but as of now this still needs a lot of work.

Audio is broken and constantly buzzes or make horrendous noises. Combat is horribly boring. Either wait for a year or two for the basics of the game to be finished or skip on this one

i love stormworks i have almost 3000 hrs. in it so i had high hope for this but the controls are clunky the building is hard and very confusing and unless you played a ton of stormworks like me you would struggle a lot game needs ALOT of work still it looks like a diamond in the rough but now lets see if they can cut it into that diamond but atm its not worth the 25$ right now i wish they would of made some kind of mobile workbench to be able to use and build instead of on the fly frame building with a tool but you cant even use that tool unless you put down a foundation block or build off of an existing wall which to me just feels wrong so atm and for the money they want i cannot say this is a good buy maybe later down the road yea but not right now

I honestly don't quite understand some of the negative reviews this game is getting. Yes, the price is fairly high for an Early Access game, and I completely understand why that puts some people off. Personally though, after actually getting into the Career Mode, I think it's already worth the price, especially if this type of technical building game is your thing. One thing I see people complaining about a lot is that they can't find better parts or that the loot feels repetitive. The game has an actual progression system. You need to find a keycard and raid the bunker. Inside you'll find higher-tier equipment, and completing the bunker progresses the world: higher-tier loot starts appearing on the surface as well, while the difficulty and enemies increase accordingly. You aren't supposed to find every advanced component by endlessly looting the start tier. So if you're several hours into Career Mode wondering where all the better parts are: go looking for the bunker. You can use the signal tracking device or simply track the bunker by going to the red blinking dot on the mountain. The building system itself is the highlight for me. It is detailed enough that building a vehicle actually feels like engineering something rather than simply snapping a few prefabricated modules together. Frames, engines, wiring, pipes, controls and all the little mechanical details make experimenting incredibly satisfying. The physics are also surprisingly good, and figuring out why something doesn't work and getting it to work is a huge part of the fun. It definitely has a learning curve, and I agree that the game could explain some mechanics and progression better. But personally I like that it doesn't hold your hand through absolutely everything. Experimenting, failing, rebuilding and eventually getting some ridiculous vehicle to work is basically the game. For an Early Access release I've also been pretty impressed with the technical state so far. I haven't encountered any major bugs yet. We've occasionally managed to get ourselves or our vehicles stuck somewhere, but so far we've always found a way out. And I strongly recommend playing Career Mode with friends. We're playing as a group of three and it's genuinely some of the most fun I've had in a building/survival game in quite a while. Driving around together in the vehicle you've built, exploring and looting as a team, working on new builds together, and then all standing around the vehicle completely clueless, trying to figure out what the hell isn't working . And when you finally find the problem and get it working, it's even more satisfying. Is it finished? Obviously not. But there is already a very deep and unique game here, and if you enjoy technical building, physics, survival and figuring things out yourself. I can absolutely recommend it. Very promising Early Access game. I'm excited to see where the developers take it.
