Dear fellow wasteland enjoyers, AND THE DEV... I bought this game not long ago, and have already 17 Hours in it. Not much yet, but enough to say that this game has serious potential. I love it. The simple graphics, combined with the range of building options you have, is beautiful. Yes, the wasteland doesnt have much to give, except the points of interest scattered around, but its still fun to drive around in your "home made" car, and listen to some music tapes while smoking a pack of cigarettes. There is NO other game which could give me the same feeling. BUT if the dev would ever see this message, I BEG YOU, PLEASE MAKE ALL TYPES OF CARS ABLE TO TOW A TRUCK TRAILER. Well, after an surprisingly very accurate Barfight with an guy who named himself "Duke Ironjaw", i drifted through the Desert with my new 8.2L V8 car and a pack of smokes. And i fell in love with it. But once after an cave exploration, i found a truck trailer. Its massive, has much space and an improvised bed with some furniture too. I almost had a heart attack of pure excitement, but then I found out i wasnt able to connect my racecar on steroids with this "thing". Damn, thats bad... But if would be possible, here is my idea: There would be some options like overall strengh of the vehicle (Size and Power for example) and the power the engine has to provide mixed with the tire grip. Like of course, a motorcycle could never tow its own trailer, and thats perfect the way it is, but the cars we get? They could. Like an attachment you weld to the back of your car, to tow this abomination af a trailer. Imagine you drive around in the black charger, and have a whole home in the back. The storage is pretty useful too. And the Bus or Trucks we already have are great, but doesnt give the feeling and vibe it should have. And an option to do such thing on a car thats strong enough, keeps the promise of "attach anything to any car". And the dev should be proud of it. But everyone who thinks about buying this game, stop thinking, to me the money spent on this masterpiece is totally worth it. A true 10/10 Australian Simulator. Thanks to the dev anyway :) If anyone feels the same like me, feel free to like this. I am grateful for every like this gets. See you in the wastelands, Survivor. Edit: Well, either a connection Piece for the larger trailer would be awesome, OR we could get a new trailer VARIANT which instead of storage space for larger stuff (like the small and medium sized trailer we have) we would have a caravan option. Like another improvised home, but made for specifically cars to tow...

This game has POTENTIAL! but unfortunately it falls a little short to what I hoped would've been the case, however I don't actually advise against playing it and wish I had the capability to give a sort of mutual rating. It covers a particular niche for me, but I don't think I'd recommend this game to a vast majority of people as it currently stands. Without going into too much detail; I think the main things that need to be looked at personally is making exploring the desert, or rather the travel inbetween Points of Interests a whole lot more engaging than what is currently given. A game so heavily inspired by Mad Max doesn't have wastelanders roaming & exploring the landscape in their own vehicles? I find this odd but maybe it's just a personal pet peeve. The world ultimately doesn't feel ALIVE, all the npc's are scattered about their POI's and never shift or go anywhere else. Not to mention how the human npc's are just... barely human? They mostly stand still, don't utter a word, they don't do anything. No dialogue such as a mention of an enemy faction for example, they're all just dull robots. I also think the UI needs a bit of work, especially the save system and how you have to go back to the menu to reload. Combat is jank but I like me some jank, this I can live with but worth keeping in mind for some people. I'd also like to suggest unequipping a weapon to be a bit more user friendly, rather than pressing the 0 key (which you can't rebind for some reason unless I'm blind and missed it in the options) to just press the corresponding number key of the current item equipped to put it away. Also performance is just a tad bit poor but I'll give the dev some slack on this considering it's one guy and this is a procedurally generated seemingly infinite world. Give the game a try if it caught your interest, however go into it expecting it to be super jank and "cheap" for lack of better words. You're not exactly playing an RPG and the survival elements are pretty barebones, get it if you have a car building itch you gotta scratch, because that's where this game shines.

My dead uncle left me a rusty bike. I found a giant diesel engine and a supercharger, for a total of 140HP. This thing is flying across the dunes. I collide in a wrecked boat in the middle of nowhere. 10/10 the real australian experience.

In a nut-shell. This is what it is to live in a Madmax world, when you play this. People complain about the open vastness of the desert but that is the entire thing about it I love. This is what The Long Drive wishes it could be. The only other game that could challange this one is Drive Beyond Horizons. To the creator of this game. I have nothing but love for what you've made. Please continue to add too it and refine this. The only thing I could ask for is Multiplayer. But I'm sure you already hear that all day long. SawyerK Games has made a knockout game, for those who liked The Long Drive and etc titles. Buy this game. Buy it on sale. Buy it at full price. Buy the bundle! (It's actually worth the money spent) Just in some way, buy this game. You won't be disappointed. It does need a few things polished but frankly? They are easily overlooked. (also, Thanks for the love folks <3)

6.5/10 The Good: -Vehicles can be customized with any part. Like, you can slap a giant diesel engine into a tiny buggy. Furthermore you can move and rotate these parts make them fit more snug. -Lots of different guns and weapons that you can find, from scrappy pipe weapons that use .22LR and 20 gauge to 7.62 AKs with drum mags. You can even find those explosive spears from Mad Max that you can strap to your car, and whenever you need them you can grab them and throw them. -If you wanted a Mad Max inspired sandbox game, this meets that criteria. Cons -Combat is either really boring or super difficult and unfair. Such as being able to run over a majority of enemies with your vehicle and not having to waste your health or ammo, or just getting jumped by a swarm of bats that obliterate you within a few seconds. It's very hit or miss. Likewise, the AI is a bit janky such as enemies having difficulties navigating indoor spaces and occasionally just running in circles. -Kind of like the Long Drive, it can get repetitive seeing the same structures over and over again. -Inventory is, well, kind of non existent. You have three slots to carry any weapon of your choosing, which isn't the problem. The problem is that once you pick up something like ammo or an armor vest you can't drop it, such as if you have ammo or a vest you don't use and want to sell to a trader you can't do that. Unless there is a way to do this, there isn't any obvious way to do so or that the game tells you how to. My conclusion: Overall I've enjoyed my time playing so far, I just feel it needs some work on some areas to really make it fun. However, this game did just release so I understand that it'll need some ironing out.

I've been waiting for this one and was pretty hopeful after their last game, but this isn't the one for me. I'm honestly on the fence about recommending it. I basically don't, but at the same time, I didn't find anything specifically wrong with it. The game works, it's cheap, and I can see why someone might enjoy it. So, I'll give it a positive rating, even though I am personally disappointed. The concept of an endless drive didn't land for me. I started three different times and never got into it. The procedural generated world and loading lag wasn't landing with me, either. I really was expecting more from this developer after their last game. This actually feels like a step backwards to me. I'm going to let it sit for a while and see what they do with updates. I'll probably give it another try someday.
