I really wanted to invest serious time in Ashen however I had to cut my visit very short. Speaking from a kb/m perspective; the lock-on implementation is from hell. I've never encountered a lock-on system like Ashen has, whether souls-like or not, where you are constantly losing the lock. Unfortunate!

The game won't start on Intel 10th Gen CPUs and anything newer. According to the Steam forums, this is a known issue and it's never going to be fixed. The store page doesn't warn about it, so I only found out after buying. Refunded.

Я прошел много соулс-лайков с большим удовольствием, и снисходителен к многим недостаткам, но это не игра, а просто отрыжка геймдева. Невероятно душная, кривая и пустая. Сломанный кооператив это отдельная тема. Единственный плюс - очень короткая

To preface this, beat every fromsoft game and numerous souls likes yada yada. I've played some BAD souls likes. This game was passable until the artificial difficulty kicks in at the seat of the matriarch when they have a long labyrinth full of mobs that overwhelm you in the dark. I don't care what anyone says, this level is not good design. It's trash because the devs don't know how to make a challenging encounter without putting you through a gauntlet of ♥♥♥♥ enemies all at once. This really turned an alright game into a bad one. Reminds me of The Ritual path in Demon's souls if the ritual path had a head injury.

Очень примитивно и в отсутствии реального челенджа разрабы просто решили сделать под конец её душноватой. Не особо сложная, деревянные анимации персонажей и очень скучный сюжет.

I'd rather play russian roulette with all chambers loaded than this. Now for the serious review, this plays like someone who loves dark souls 2 developed it but also didnt include shortcuts. Multiplayer is really janky and it is hard to sometimes connect. The story and music are all fine, but ultimately the moment to moment gameplay is picking up boring upgrade equipment and threading through a world full of swarms of the same kind of enemies. Bosses are a mixed bag between okay and terrible, almost every boss has spawn unlimited amounts of adds. I think bosses were totally not made properly with two people in mind, as they quite often bug out and change targets very randomly. Spare yourself and play actually enjoyable games. If you're desperate than maybe this can be a fun little bonding experience over some really trash level design.

Had this game on my wishlist for a long while and got it via a bundle. Knew it was mixed, but wanted to give it a shot anyways. Had fun with it, but the mixed rating is understandable. Thought of 100%-ing it for a little while, but saw that I had to replay the whole game on cripple mode and pay for a dlc that would have cost me almost more than the bundle I bought. Figured it wasn't worth my time. For the rest of the game as a whole it is fairly simple. Soul's Like, minimalistic (unfortunatly also in enemy combat design) and vague come to mind. I realy loved the visual changes throughout the game. It made the game feel so alive to me. It felt like a somewhat chill game to me. Only started having trouble near the end of the game. lastly I felt that Items that I could pick up started to feel very useless in the end. There are better games worth your time, but if you got the game in a bundle or free somehow, give it a shot.

Ни в коем случае не покупайте это, если вы хотите играть в коопе. Как нервы потрепать пожалуйста, но игра не примечательна.
