abandoned game impossible to get 100% achievements in since they added achievements for new game + but didn't actually add a ng+ mode. It's now been 3 years with no more comment about it, it's not going to happen.

I was a little skeptical going into this game, to be honest, but after playing it for a while I have to say it is a really clean combat experience. The game itself is a little barebones, but that's what I love about it. Remnant as a series is pretty maximalist, so having a game in the series focusing on duels and back and forth combat is real fun. You can't actively make a broken build unless you over-level. The aging mechanic is fun, though I haven't died enough to see what it properly changes just yet. It brings to mind the later game Sifu, while the dueling aspect is very Absolver. The puzzles are actually pretty fun and pretty tactile, (which makes sense since it was originally a VR game.) though some are very obtuse. I was stuck on a certain puzzle in the Krell world for a while before I had to look up what to do. The design of the world, the traversal, the puzzles, and even somewhat the aging mechanic (And the fate of the hero) bring to mind a lot of Fumito Ueda/Team Ico's works. Difficulty options are good for people who are new to a style of game focused on combat in this vein. I had a lot of fun on Heroic, personally. I'd say if you do try it, try the harder difficulties to fully take advantage of what the aging mechanic does. You do have to be a fan of Remnant's story to really appreciate what the game is putting out there, though. I doubt I would have stuck with it too long if it wasn't a Remnant game.

Played and beat the game on all 3 difficulties sub age 30. Cant say i understand some of the negative reviews with janky controls and or issues with playability. Game was perfectly smooth at Epic settings, and i controlled the game with no issues. Other than rolling, you can block near immediately after attacking, and you can cancel animations with dashing (toggling on target lock then rolling), enabling you to be very aggressive with your combos. Age is a none issue as you will never get old enough for it to matter unless you intentionally die, even on the hardest difficulty. Even then your Vitality, Strength and Agility start giving reduced improvements 20 points in, with the max Soft Cap being 30points. Any further investment having the absolute diminished returns possible. You basically cap out at lvl 30 to which any further levels should be hoarded until you reach Age 45 to toss into Arcane where it will be cheap to spend, which again you intentionally have to die to reach. Game and lore was neat to discover as i wanted to learn the expanded Remnant universe. I love its OST, having bought it and replayed it a ton when not playing. Given its seeming abandonment, unable to get 100% achievements, no NG+ and that certain weapons are OP because you can infinite stagger enemies faster than any other weapon (iron sword), I cannot in good faith recommend the game at full price of 30$. At most i think 15$ is a nice tidy number. This is a game that is good if on a sale :)

Do I regret playing this game? No Would I recommend you play it? Also No The combat is clunky as ♥♥♥♥, the balancing of the hardes difficulty is really weird and pretty bad imo. And the really bad design decisions are horrible and make the game way less fun. I read you should play this before Remnant: From the Ashes to understand the story. But like Im pretty sure that I read every log and book and this really isnt anything special. Youre not missing much if you just read the story on some wiki or something tbh. Also if you like to 100% your games then stay away, as this one apparently has unobtainable archivements cause they added them but not the content lmfao

Chronos: Before the Ashes é o prequel de Remnant: From the Ashes.

The only reason I played through this game was to learn more about the lore of remnant. If this was linked to any other IP I wouldn't have bothered. The game is incredibly sub par and the dying mechanics start to get old pretty quick. Not to mention the amount of things the game punishes you for for no reason. Just watch a youtube lore video.

As a souls-like, this feels so clunky to play. Every movement you make needs to complete it's animation before you can do another button input. You want to put up your shield after dodging? Wait until the entire dodge animation is done. You want to dodge during an attack? Be patient and wait half a second after your attack animation finishes before you can do that. You want to heal? Press the heal button and watch as your character sheathes their weapon, pulls out the item to heal, put it close to their chest. Good luck trying to heal mid-fight because you can't cancel the heal animation once you've pressed that button. Don't even get me started about getting staggered. If you get a damaged , your character sometimes performs a head shake, almost like they're trying to regain their balance. It's a neat detail, but holy does it get frustrating when you see an opening but a headshake animation needs to play before you can move. Voice over is pretty good though. And reading through the notes to understand the lore of this universe was good.
