A tedious downward spiral lacking mechanical depth. 📉⛏️ The Core Loop is Flawed 🔄 I initially expected strategic routing to be a major part of the gameplay. Instead, the mechanics actively discourage it. Because you cannot toggle the drill off without instantly ending your run, moving left or right causes you to break unintended blocks and waste fuel. The most optimal (and most boring) strategy is to simply point straight down, sit back, and wait for your fuel to drain. There is zero mechanical depth here. Bloated Progression 🌳 [*] Skill Tree: The tree is massively bloated and needlessly overcomplicated by multiple currencies. It should be a quarter of the size so that individual upgrades actually feel impactful. [*] Fossils (Power-ups): The fossil mechanic is highly underwhelming. You start with a single equip slot and max out at just four (out of sixteen) by the end game. The progression feels stagnant; starting with two slots and unlocking more in pairs would have scaled much better. 🦴 Visual & UI Frustrations 🚫 [*] Controller Support is a Trap: Navigating the massive skill tree with a controller is miserable. Skill descriptions pop up over the node you are currently on, and the selection highlight quickly fades to a barely visible thin white line. It is incredibly easy to lose track of your cursor. Stick to a mouse, or better yet, the game shouldn't have shipped with controller support in this state. 🎮❌ [*] Fever Mode: Activating the "Fever" ability just blurs the screen and hurts your eyes. Whatever mechanical advantage it supposedly provides is completely negated by the visual nightmare it creates. 😵‍💫 Artificial Grind ⏳ The game does not respect your time. After beating the campaign and maxing out the entire skill tree, the final achievement (mine 300K blocks) forced me to complete 23 extra runs. That equates to 15 minutes of purely mindless busywork: aim down, start the drill, watch the animation, hit 'play again', and repeat. 🏆 Overall, Diggin is a tedious grind heavily weighed down by poorly balanced mechanics and frustrating UI elements. ❌

End game makes no sense, devolves into a chaotic mess and I don't know why it thinks with the entire tree unlocked I don't have enough star power.

Kinda short for the price. 3hours 15 minutes for completing game and 30 minutes maybe farming the last achievement for 100%. Can be rough to understand at the begining compared to others incrementals. Otherwise unique gameplay and nice design. I would suggest to take it ONLY in rebate. For the last achievement heres my strategy - Go difficulty 1 and do like 30 runs of like 1 minute each. You should reach your 300k blocks. 7/10 overall

This game has the typical incremental formula down, with increasing progression for you to dig deeper each time. I feel like there were some aspects that were lacking for me. One, it was very possible to miss the things you were supposed to get because your little mole just digs as much as he wants and there's no way to really control him, especially with all the bombs happening. It was INCREDIBLY frustrating missing the special loot almost every single time because you couldn't control him. This is also the same for the stars as well in the late game. I also felt bored at some moments where progression didn't feel like it was going anywhere so it got a little monotonous. There was no explanation of what additional layers did until I tried it and had to figure it out myself. All in all I did like the art style, I just think it has some faults compared to other mining based incremental games I've played. Finished? Yes Steam Achievements? Easy Steam Deck? Really hard to select the thing you want at times. Rating? 6/10 My curator page: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45865425-CozyAriGames/ Full videos on Youtube

3.4 hours for a full 100% including the final achievement which is just spamming the same level, about 2.5hour to complete the game, fun little game for its price.

Short and sweet. Its not going to be your forever game, but its fun while you play.

Too short for an idle game, but too restrictive in what it lets you do for a mining or exploration game. It's just.. weird. Also the progression system is this weird grid slop that every mining indie game seems to have now. Makes you wonder if this is either a unity asset that was only modified to the bare minimum or something AI now generates for every one of these games. Since the progression and gameplay barely make sense to me, I would suspect the latter.
