A really atmospheric and gruesome game. The story seems heavily inspired by Silent Hill 2 but I think it uses these ideas really well. It explores the depths of human emotions and the relationship between Joe and his wife, which I found really interesting. I also really loved the aesthetic of the game. Harvester Games has a really good eye for making 2D horror look disturbing while still being visually beautiful. The combination of the artstyle, atmosphere and disturbing imagery works really well and gives the game this really unique vibe that I really love.

"We have Silent Hill 2 at Home" vibes, and I realise that's giving this game a bit of a knock but it was quite clearly inspired by Silent Hill 2 from the Story to the Main Characters Design. Look at the Brown Leather Jacket and Black Jeans, that's James Sunderland in 2D. The game itself is fine, it's a little by the numbers Dark and Gorey PnC. You cannot escape the Silent Hill 2 Comparison though and every single time this game pales in comparison. At this point why don't you just play Silent Hill 2?

How far would you go to save your wife? Faithful to the style of The Cat Lady, Downfall continues to explore dark themes of insanity, obsessive love and desperation with its old-timey aesthetics, point-and-click gameplay and a runtime of around five hours. The conclusion is quite tragic, but the overall bleakness emphasizes the psychological distress under which our protagonist, Joe, finds himself. The seams of reality begin to tear as more sinister secrets are unearthed on the ground of The Quiet Haven hotel. Downfall presents a heart-wrenching story steeped in rich symbolism and intricate details most of which are quite easy to miss on your first run, and the aftertaste of confusion is the reason why it failed to have an immediate emotional impact on me. I found The Cat Lady more digestible storywise - nevertheless, both are of excellent quality, and Downfall has more surprises up its sleeve than I expected. I found myself questioning Joe's morals quite often during his relentless pursuit of his disappeared wife, and some scenes felt like a violation of the victims. There is no shortage of gore and viscera, in addition to the psychological component of it all. Fans of the other titles from this developer should obviously try this one out. It plays out similarly and feels like a natural continuation of the trilogy. If you're new here, then you just have to take my (and over 90% of the reviewers') word for the excellence of this creation! 我感觉这是Harvester Games剧情第二好的一部，还有这steam商店截图截的啥四比三比例，神了👍 本作是重制版，严格来说这才是恶魔过境第一部吧，但感觉玩完猫夫人再玩本作后面剧情才更能看懂，很多剧情上的细节也能恍然大悟懂吧，不然你乔叔叔看着真像个良民了🌿草 流程是四部里最短的，差不多只有4小时，但我感觉箱庭解密是做的最好的一部，也是指引最好的一部，而且重置后明显动作设计音乐设计是最好的一部甚至超过最新的一部Burnhouse Lane，音乐是最摇滚最好的一部，所以评价比猫夫人还高，但剧情都是暗示向，可能玩完游戏你也没看懂，但设计上给到夯👍
