First of all I love this game, I enjoy playing it, this review is solely negative because the game does not feel finished. The good: - very cute art style with original character designs and adorable animations - no stress, no need to be rushing all over the place to get things done, the game is incredibly forgiving in it's farming area and there are plenty other ways to make money. - no hand holding, take the time to figure things out at your own pace - well thought out gameplay loop. The kitchen part of the gameplay is incredibly involved, and it's a joy to see the dragons waddle through the kitchens with the utensils in their tiny hands, very cute! - The developers are actively listening to the community, they have shown to be quick in implementing much needed changes and this should be commended. The "needs more work": - Where the soundtrack at? :( music comes on and off randomly and more often than not does not play when outside of specific situations. - The game can be rather unresponsive to some inputs from the player, this is specially apparent when you are cooking yourself. - The developers have implemented a map which is mighty handy! You can now teleport to multiple areas of the town, but funnily enough you can't teleport to your farm. - I wish there was more visual progression on the town side of the game, there is a little but the npcs seem to just stay miserable. A little smile in their portrait would go a long way. The Bad: - This game does not feel finished. The longer I play the more I find that is just not quite there yet, this is specially apparent with the festivals that happen every season. I made it to the fall festival where there is a fishing mini game. The mini game started without any promp, it is timed so good luck, the actual fishing mini game felt like it was using pre-alpha assets and there really is, no response there what so ever, you supposedly catch coins but there is no feedback from the game if you're doing good or bad other than keep ball in bar. All in all there is a good game here, but it needs more player feedback animations to really hit that spot in it's genre. EDIT: I cannot recommend this at this time given it is not an early access build and is being sold as a finished product. However the developers have stated they are working on possible fixes and additions, so I am hopeful in the future this will turn into a positive review. :) This review has been edited twice so far as a reflection on continuous patches by the developers and an effort to keep an accurate opinion up to date with the current product.

In it's current state, I cannot reccomend this game. I got it because the demo seemed pretty well done despite some minor bugs, and it came across as 'stardew but with cute dragon helpers' and while that's slightly accurate, it's poorly implemented. Pros -Dragons are cute -Game is pretty chill Cons -You are basically the 'savior of the town' right from the start, not from helping revitalize it, but because you have dragon friend -Dragons get broken in logic frequently due to bad set up for certain things (specifically when cooking due to how some recipees are set up) -'Opposed season' to your dragon halves it's ability to function without the right lights installed, unlocking the lights requires certain quest markers, but the game only shows you resource icons but not what the resources actually are, or how to get them -Everything needs a ton of money grinding to advance because of nails, which are 80 coins a pop and EVERYTHING needs them -Kitchens are basically 'multiblock on steroids' needing different ones for specific different recipees with tons of gubbins crammed in -If you try to make extra and your dragon finishes cooking, items that are mid processing/cooking just get deleted from existance -Tons of 'hidden collision' objects/areas -Each season only lasts 2 weeks, instead of 4 -Game has alot of mechanics it does not explain or teach (such as ranching being a hard requirment for making the water dragon lights so It doesn't have massive 'opposed element season' debuffs, or that you can grow things out of normal season with the right fertilizers) -Crops that have very similar icons (looking at you lettuce and cabbage) -Theres an area to the far right of town where you can get various materials also, but nothing tells you it exists unless you stumble upon it, but with time constraints to complete various quests, going exploring comes across punishing -No way to clear grass without risk of destroying berry/memory nut bushes which don't seem to respawn and cannot be plants -Many things require planks, each of which takes 4 logs, and a tree only drops 4-6 of them, and they're also require to run the oven/boiler, but you'll get SO many sticks which have pretty much no uses (just being able to use them instead of logs for fuel would help) -Hay, you get alot of it, but it's used extremely little and can't even be sold I could go on but... in it's current state, the game feels like a beta build, not a full launch build, and the demo to release verson has some changes that make little sense, such as changing the town layout for no real reason

I really liked the idea of this game and for the first few hours I enjoyed it. But the more i play the worse the game gets. It is not good at explaining very important features of the game, like fishing or what the icons for the plants needs actually mean. This game feels like alpha, there is a lot of issues using the controller like purchasing seeds, you get a different seed than what you have highlighted. Then there is the extremely frustrating part of the dragons just disappearing when you need them to do work, or even just to feed them. Their hunger bar goes down way to fast and then not being able to feed them cause you can't find them is just ridiculous. I have tried to give this game a chance but it is just one frustration after another. I will have to wait and see if the devs ever updated this game, because if they don't I will never play it again. I have seen multiple complaints that are similar to mine and hope that they get addressed.

gave the game a long time. The concept and game play loop won me over. However, I cannot recommend the game in its current state. There are many many bugs that while not progression ending (I haven't encountered any such bugs at least) are incredibly frustrating. Some crops can only be tended by the dragon, and the dragon can randomly lose all of it's magic on tending exactly one plot, causing use of resources. The game lacks just about any good information to make the game easier. This is both a good and bad thing, but it tends towards bad. The good part is you do a lot of discovering on your own. The bad is your progress may be stopped by not knowing how to progress until you play for long enough to try almost everything. The game also severely limits how to earn money. Most crops you grow do not give you good return selling them raw, so you are forced to process them in the kitchen if you want good efficient money. However, the kitchen takes time, so you may have 100s of berries but literally cannot process them fast enough. The kitchens are another issue. The kitchen sits on foundation that cannot be expanded, so your kitchen space is at a premium. However, you have to manually select each ingredient in baskets to cook them. So if you need to cook many varied recipes you will constantly have to stop to change ingredients over, or use valuable kitchen space to have a larger variety of ingredients available. Cooking also takes energy. So everything you do competes with energy. Energy is another problem. I played until the end of fall and have done many villager quests, but so far there is no object that increases energy. And energy runs out QUICK. You will water 2 9x9 plots and be completely out, forcing you to eat the precious money making food you have to then cook. It's like the game is at odds in design. The days are meant to go fast, as do the seasons, but nothing you do is allowed to BE fast because there are too many systems using up your meager resources. This ends up being frustrating to play as it just feels like there isn't enough of energy to do stuff in the day, or enough time to do stuff in the day when you manage to scrounge enough energy to do extra things. As far as i can tell, rain events only occur in spring. In my entire time playing I have only seen it rain once in spring, so the event is super rare as well. All in all, the game has many positives, but the game is fighting my attempts to enjoy it with mechanics that border on tedium. I've put it down for now until some fixes come in, especially for the dragon magic resource that is supremely important and seems to randomly drain sometimes, and possibly some system improvements to make the gameplay loop smoother (not necessarily easier). As such, it gets a thumbs down right now. I'll be keeping my eye on fixes and changes coming to the game, hopefully I can recommend it in future.

Verdict: This is a pretty unique and cool game to hit the farming / crafting rpg-esque genre. It isn't trying to be Stardew or Fields of Misteria or Sunhaven. It is its own stand-alone type. The game introductes human emotions rooted in depression and the main character heals the village and town people's hearts to restore their passion for what they loved to do (their jobs in the village). Unlike other games where you restore the shops right away after doing fetch quests (which I do love those), this game is a slow burn. The changes happen over time. The recent patch (patch 2) made some great quality of life improvements. The new controller set up works really well and seeing the recipes and ingredients is so much easier. The new patch also made it so much easier to keep the dragons happy and restore their energy and the character lasted longer stamina wise which really helped. I have to say pre-patch when I first started playing I was frustrated and almost dropped the game, but when I got a handle on the controls and mechanics I loved it, so glad I retried the game. Everything gets unlocked pretty slowly but I think this is good. It actually takes effort and building things up into a sequence to unlock the major items. The only thing the game suffers from is being so new that many people have not written how to find the items you need or where to get it from. The AI is wrong (for those trying to google things), so do not try to find the answer like that. Especially when you are far in and past the 3rd animal from the pet guy. Heres some tips: 1) Hardwood - you need the iron axe to get it. Theres one super large tree in the foraging area all the way to the right by the path that has a wooden bridge you can't cross. Also your farm has about 4 of them. They kind of look straight and paperlike image wise. The white birch trees are oak trees - they just help reduce wood supplies to get the basic planks instead of using 4 wood for 1 plank, you can use 2 oaks for 1 plank. No other special effect. 2) The water thing the Pet guy is looking for- it is not in some river. Just bring the materials he asks for and put it in his pen. 3) Don't waste too much time upgrading your axe and pickaxe to give to the dragons - just give them the stone ones. Once you get iron and copper you don't really need their help. 4) Bristle - you get it from the earth mole, to get the earth mole habitat you need to unlock hard wood and get the earth dragon who will then let you farm the wise mushrooms you need to get the green bottle, the green peas you need to feed the mole, and the ancient root you need to build the habits. THEN you can build the earth dragon pen. 5) Smoldering Coal - this you get from the fire salamanders which you need the lava pen for. Also the fire stone looking thing is from the ladybug looking pet 6) Dew - man do not try to AI or google thing. DEW you get from the pink a axolotls which you unlock from the museum after turning in the soup set or the blue/red bottle stuff. Google and game will hint at going out in the morning to collect it off plants - do not listen to that. It does not drop from plants. 7) When you can't figure out why you can't make a dish, look at what is red when you go to try to make it in the shop thing you set down. Usually you are missing a basket or mixing station or something which you can make at the carpenter 8) When you are waiting around for something - just give everyone a red berry, everyone likes it. Helps unlock their story quests sooner. 9) You will unlock a feeding barrel for your dragons - just stuff it with extra berries and the memory nuts. Way cheaper and easier than making your dragons food. 10) let your dragon do all the cooking, its easier than following the icons or remembering the recipe. You can toggle which one is cooking or mark them as X in the cooking menu if you don't want one to cook. 11) The 'joy' the dragons drop can't be fed to villagers BUT it can be fed back to them to replenish their 'power' aka the water gun for the water dragon, the earth thing for the earth one and the fire stuff for the fire one. This was also a nice fix from the patch because previously they would be stuck at low energy even after sleeping. Its easy to get a lot of joy to drop, especially the more dragons you have. 12) do not clear all your berry bushes as it helps early game. Later when you unlock the museum you can buy the bushes to put back in your field area. Have fun you guys :) I like this new introduction of dragons to farm sims. Dragon Song Tavern was also cute, but like I said this game has some new and neat mechanics. I love when you get to restore a town but the emotional repair was a cool twist. And I like that its a little harder to do things because it makes it more challenging. Also - skip winter / until the festival day. When you get green houses it is probably fine to play through winter, but unless you just want to go hacking up a lot of rocks and trees there isn't too much to do in winter at least right now. There is no penalty for it. Also, you can't pass out or anything so go forage out for stuff, time stops at 23:00. Additionally, the forage area always has 2-3 yellow shiny things you can dig up off the ground which can contain lots of seeds (yes plural), free seeds are nice, money, and nails as well as logs and stone. Pretty useful, especially in early game. Leave it for last since time doesn't go past 23:00 but the vilagers start leaving their spots around 18:00-20:00.
