Game will crash on you for no reason on random saves. Got 10 hours in and saves are stuck now. Cannot play this game in this state.

I returned to Dungeon Siege after 20 years and finally decided to finish what I started. Playing it again was a nostalgic and thoroughly enjoyable experience. The relatively simple controls, linear progression, and beautifully crafted environments make this an incredibly relaxing game to play. It's the kind of game you can simply sit back and enjoy without having to overthink every decision – a great stress-relief game. Of course, you could wish for more intricate character development and item management, but there's something refreshing about the simplicity. You mainly have to decide how many frontliners and backliners you want in your party. I went with three melee fighters, two ranged characters, two nature magic users/healers, and one combat mage. As for equipment, the management is equally straightforward: bigger numbers generally mean better damage and armor. There are a few minor annoyances. Camera and character controls can feel a little janky, particularly in tight spaces. I also never developed a good sense of how effective the different spells actually were. Neither issue was serious enough to detract much from the overall experience, though. One final tip if you're playing on a modern system with a widescreen monitor: the game doesn't natively support widescreen resolutions, but I was able to get it running at 1920×1080 by adding the following Steam launch options under Properties → General → Launch Options: nointro=true width=1920 height=1080 Twenty years later, Dungeon Siege remains a wonderfully straightforward and relaxing isometric dungeon crawler. Sometimes, you don't need complicated systems, endless customization, or an open world – sometimes it's enough to gather a party, follow the path, and hit things until the numbers get bigger.

Dungeon Siege is a masterclass of a game, by none other than then Microsoft itself. I only experienced this game much later, but we still had those 4:3-ish screens. It was acquired by Square Enix, as everything did. What makes it stand out is the "neverending story" effect it produces. Once you realise that all of it runs as one smooth, seamless instance, and subtract from that today's technical accessibility, this game is not only an opus, but also a technical achievement. For its time, or otherwise, really. Because once achieved, it can't be unachieved. - You control a peasant with a pitchfork. - Then there are two of you, using legit weapons. - Then, oh look, this chick wants to join in... oh, and she casts spells. - Oh look, a dwarf. Let's take him in. - Oh, we need to carry all our ♥♥♥♥. Let's pick one of those pack mules. - Oh, there's two? Let's have two. - Look, let's join a few more dudes. They spell, they fire arrows, and whatnot. - ... All of this happens while a very smooth and pleasing gameplay experience and story unfolds. The game had a hypnotising effect on me. It was autumn, too. 🍂🍁 Smack that space bar to pause at any point whatsoever, reframe your tactics and your approach, and you've got gameplay turned into a gem. Change the formation, rewire weapons, change spells, etc. I didn't even care what the problem was. Just keep going, for the love of it. A recent game that hasn't even come out yet uses this excellent mechanic. All of that started with unique titles like Dungeon Siege. P.S. The game in reference is Enter the Chronosphere.

Me encantaría que este juego tuviese un remaster, o al menos una actualización de calidad/optimizacion para los tiempos que corren.

it definitely needs to get adapted to the system, the character can attack by itselt without us having to click on the enemy, but that depends on their weapon type and stance. It's an old game, i must say, but well it is fun to me. tips for new players who wish to try the game: 1. NEVER underestimate the usefulness of ranged attack (bow, etc), when facing ranged enemies you don't want to rush in to them by melee, you'll get swarmed 2. Manually store health potions into your characters (this i learned later on, wondering why some didn't want to drink) 3. buy a packmule or two, the loots youre gonna find will be useful to sell etc, to buy potions etc 4. keeping your distance from the enemy is a great idea to preserve health, so rain arrows to melee enemies, that's useful 5. save OFTEN, you have no idea how much this has helped me getting through caves and the massive church-like building, every 10 seconds, after battle, you manually save, you don't know what comes next. 6. knowing when to retreat and find place where the enemies mostly won't chase you down is important too if you can't win a big battle, some tiny amount of enemy will chase you down then you can finish them one by one, then heal up, then continue mowing down enemies by the number
