Worst DLC added to the game. Was promised to make the game better, but really just made the game worse, and 6 years later, they have yet to fix the biggest issues. Oops, I ran away from somebody scanning me, now the base I am hired to be at is attacking me, I now have a bounty, die, and have to pay 100k in fines upon respawn and several million to get my ship back, all for a fine/bounty less than 1000 credits. Something like that I should just be able to pay off or have a way to end hostilities. At least with the space portion it is easy enough to jump to another system and pay your fines and bounties off, but when on foot, running away and doing that is not possible. And shooting back just increases your bounty. The ground combat modes are decent, but the guns are horribly out of balance, and either do way too little or way to much damage. This DLC really needs an overhaul to make it decent, but 6 years on and it still has the same issues, so I don't expect the Devs to actually fix their game.

This game is ridiculous. Bad graphics, horrid controls and an overly complex system of game controls with little or no new player consideration. The tutorials are less than barebones. This is the most disappointing space simulator I’ve ever played, and one of the most disappointing games I’ve ever played, and at 62 I’ve been playing games longer than most Steam customers have been alive. Back to X4 Foundations and Helldivers 2 for Me. At least No Man’s Sky is pretty and super easy to learn.

Very jank, but enjoyable if you like walking around on-food at places. Defintely only get on sale; elite dangerous is a painfully grindy game, and unless you like tedious courier missions that don't work in the tutorial area... combat isn't fun until you can buy grade 3 of every weapon.

Genuine waste of a day trying to get into this. Detection systems of enemies mustve been tested by like 1 person before they said "♥♥♥♥ it ship it". Outposts all suck to explore. Made up of like 4 tiles.

Honestly if steam had a mixed option instead of just yes or no this would have it. it does a lot good and a lot bad the good out weights the bad but you can still feel its stench, all of the features it ads are awesome but its clear that the base game was never designed with this in mind from the get go and devs haven't fixed it yet some of the textures especially on the landing pads and some older ships look ass up close regardless of settings, the optimization is not good its barely tolerable or maybe im just used to low fps as i 100% far cry 4 on the Xbox 360 which was a experience i would never wish on anyone, i expected a slightly more sim oriented experience it is 1 mile wide a inch deep same as the combat in the base game. and ofc most if not all of the new and upcoming content that has been added is locked behind this dlc which i find bs its still pretty fun just pick it up at a discount

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! To say this expansion is a hot mess is an understatement when you accept a mission in odyssey good luck because more than 50% of the missions I have experienced have been so bugged you can't even do the missions, it will tell you to do things that flat out don't exist and the saddest part is it feels like Frontier just honestly couldn't care less.

Sure, there's a lot to be butt hurt about with this expansion. Personally, the lack of VR support is soul crushing. This game was the reason I bought my first VR headset in the first place. But I can accept that it's niche and not a priority. Regardless, the on foot content is great! Don't let the principled ney-sayers steer you away. Elite is the most immersive gaming experience out there.

I don't usually write reviews but I felt I would share my opinion on elite dangerous: odyssey. Unfortunately this DLC is basically required to play the game, as all new ships are locked behind it. As well as this, exobiology (the best money making method) is also odyssey only because of on foot content. As well as this, the planets that would be the coolest to visit (such as Earth) are not even landable. I've only started playing this a couple months ago and really love it but there are alot of issues that lead me to not recommend it. - Terrible performance (in space station concourse and settlements. this is probably due to the fact that the game has little to no culling.) - Equally terrible aliasing since the game lacks proper AA due to the very old engine To be honest the on foot gameplay is amazing when it's working but there are still so many bugs and poor implementations of features that its just not fun to play most of the time. FDev are also greedy and instead of fixing issues that players have let them know about for over 5 years, they don't listen and keep releasing early access ships for real money. I really hope these issues get fixed but it's been so long its probably never going to happen.
