Empire of Sin is an ambitious strategy game that combines mafia management, turn-based combat, and city control in 1920s Chicago during Prohibition. Although the game had a bumpy launch, several updates and DLCs have improved the experience considerably. It's still not quite the mafia sandbox that many were hoping for, but it delivers a unique blend of XCOM , Jagged Alliance , and Crusader Kings -inspired crime strategy. The combat is very similar to XCOM. Positioning matters a lot. There are over a dozen bosses. This gives the game high replay value. The economy is the game's strongest element. The battles have great variety. 1920s Chicago is beautifully rendered. The music is particularly strong. Empire of Sin is one of the most interesting mafia strategy games on the market. It sets in an atmospheric version of Prohibition-era Chicago and combines city-building, economics, and turn-based combat in a way that few other games do. AI and diplomacy hold it back from greatness, but after several years of updates, it's a much better experience than it was at launch. I really wish the devs would of cared for this game more. It's such a great mafia game, had so much potential.

I played this on the playstation, and honestly, kind of forgot how quickly it gets boring. At first, I thought it was pretty good. I liked the idea of it, building a team, turn based action, resources, etc. That part truly is good. But, once all that novelty washes off, you're left with just REPETITIVE tasks, usually at a grander scale, and taking over territories truly becomes boring (at least for me). It's literally the same thing over and over and over and over and over again. This game could have been SENSATIONAL with more depth and other things to do. i know I only have 9.7 hours played here on steam, and that's because I got it to the point of boredom really quickly. I realize most people will think I really didn't give this a real go, but remember, I played this on Playstation and truly just forgot how repetitive it becomes. It's fun for the squad based shoot 'em up, but after that.... grab a pillow and blanket, you are in for lot's of boring repetition. If you can get this super cheap, I'd recommend it just for the quick fun of the "initial coolness" of the game, but don't expect much beyond that.

сначала я обрадовался парадоксодрочильне в моём любимом сеттинге, очень плотно играл два дня подряд. Я 5 часов пытался убить босса Салазара, поймал баг, когда он встаёт колом, сам ничего не делает и ему ничего нельзя сделать. После этого бага и 5 потраченных часов не хочется начинать заново и продолжать. Че-т наигрался)))) По-хорошему отзыв нужно сделать негативным, но всё-таки поставлю палец вверх за всё остальное, закрывая глаза на баги

absolutely stellar game. i got this less than a week ago and i already have 30 hours on it whenever i'm not working i've been playing this. pretty well optimized too, looks good and runs good for me. probably not 60 fps but i don't mind that that being said, however. PARADOX! SUPPORT EMPIRE OF SIN AGAIN AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!

Худшая из игр пошаговых, которые я только видел. Вернул деньги, после часа игры. Не рекомендую брать это убожество сделанное на коленке ещё и на движке Юнити!

In 2026, there are still too many bugs that make this game unplayable. Saving before every single combat is required, because when your combat glitches out you have to reload the entire thing. When you get into the higher levels, these combats take almost an hour. I have tried to play this game twice, and both times I have come across a game breaking bug that doesn't allow me to finish. The first time the main questline glitched out and I was unable to interact with the quest character to move forward (looked it up on reddit, learned it was common and no way to fix it). The second time the final boss was invincible and could not be killed, it would bring me back into combat over and over again to say I won due to the fact that there were zero enemies. This game is fun when it works, but it just doesn't work most of the time, and sinking 20+ hours into a run only to have a gamebreaking bug destroy your save file is such a letdown. Don't put your time in here.
