Predatory subscription paywall. Alt to Once Human, Bethesda online games. Even ESO just dropped it's price to a familiar 26$ to match the base game upgrade – but without paywalls to limit social interaction and QOL. Actual free play vs this decades old dinosaur trying to pass itself off as an equal. It was back in it's day, but now.... Daybreak is like Voldemort copy trying to stay attached to something alive before it's parasitic nature destroys itself. Don't feed the paywall if possible. The faster it goes, then maybe someone can pick it up that actually cares about the game and it's players.

A GAME I MOSTLY REMEMBER THROUGH SOMEONE ELSE'S LOVE FOR IT My Steam playtime doesn't really represent how much I played EverQuest II. I originally played through the standalone launcher and probably spent somewhere around 500 hours in the game. But honestly, one of my strongest memories of EverQuest II isn't even my own progression. It is my uncle. His character was called Jiraiya, and he absolutely loved this game. You could genuinely feel how much EverQuest II meant to him. I even got to raid with him for a while, and those are probably some of my favorite memories from the game. I eventually stopped playing, but not because EverQuest II was bad. Real life simply got in the way. WHAT I REMEMBER LOVING: * A huge MMO world * Great memories from raiding * Tons of things to discover * A strong feeling of progression * An incredibly passionate veteran community * Housing that was honestly amazing The housing deserves a special mention. Even today, I still remember how much freedom it gave you. For someone who enjoys decorating and creating their own little place inside an MMO, EverQuest II did this incredibly well. ONE THING I DID NOT LIKE: My biggest negative memory was the customer support. This was more than 10 years ago, so I cannot say how it works today. Whenever I actually managed to reach support, my problems were usually solved. But at the time I remember having to make paid phone calls to contact them, which I absolutely hated. Again, this is an old experience and may no longer represent the current support system. FINAL THOUGHT I still recommend EverQuest II. But I think this is one of those older MMOs that becomes MUCH easier to appreciate when you have friends to play with or an experienced veteran who can show you the world. Playing completely alone as a new player might be overwhelming. Playing alongside someone who already loves the game? That is where EverQuest II can become something special. Maybe my uncle Jiraiya is still somewhere out there playing it today. I genuinely wouldn't be surprised. VERY FOND MEMORIES. ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED WITH THE RIGHT PEOPLE.

I log back in periodically throughout the year to hang in Greater Faydark and dissociate from reality. At $14.99/month it's still cheaper than therapy. The music is soothing and reminds me of a better time around 2007-2010 when I played more, a trip to the grocery store was $50, and way less threat of Ai-induced extinction.

This game is much better than i thought it would be and turns out to be a great game to have imstalled on my Retro Gaming PC Build using Linux OS. (Mint Mate) Due to the cost of newer hardware I have decided to dial the the clocks back and built an old Gaming PC purely for older games. The funny thing is I'm having more fun looking back than I am forward.

Nah. Several email confirmation errors right from the start. Creating a username, even trying some pretty unusual ones, took an excessive amount of time. Once I finally got in, I tried several different servers, and each one I selected told me that membership was required. Since the game is advertised as free-to-play, it would have been helpful if the server selection screen clearly showed which servers require membership before selecting them. At one point I was told to exit the game and log back in to use a server. I did that, and it still didn't work. After more than 15 minutes of simply trying to get into the game and play, I gave up and uninstalled it. I'm sure EverQuest II is probably a good game once you're actually playing it, but getting into a free-to-play game shouldn't be this difficult or confusing.

I played the heck out of this in its first couple years of launch. But the amount of abilities and hotbars necessary to play become tiresome after a time. No other MMO I've ever played have I had to use 5 hot bars and use Shift, Alt and Ctrl, as well as the base numbers to use my abilities. It's overkill. But I know that's a 'me' thing. It's a massive game that still holds up graphically, I think. I just wish I didn't need my fingers to be spaghetti to access all the abilities to play it.

The problem with this is the a lack of players. I almost never see anybody else outside of towns. So leveling and everything have to be done alone. But the game is solid, I'm having fun with it. I like the more complex games, with different kind of skills to develop and so on, not just getting everything ready. Controls are modern mmo style, easy to get around with user interface.
