Bought this game for the nostalgia, as it's my favorite installment in the series, but I cannot recommend purchasing until there's a fix for the FATAL ERROR crashes. I have tried near everything, and still this game will NOT run on my PC. I am on Windows 11 with Nvidia drivers.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is a great of the most underrated entries in the series. The Gambit system is the highlight: you program your party's AI behavior, and watching your team fight on its own feels incredibly satisfying. The new Job System adds a lot of build variety, and the faster game speed makes grinding and exploring much less tedious. Ivalice is a beautiful world with a mature, politics-driven story, and the soundtrack and voice acting are excellent. The pacing can feel slow at times, and the story is less character-focused than other FF games. Still, if you enjoy deep strategy and RPG customization, it's well worth your time. Recommended!

I used to play this game on PS2 and I didn't finish the game. I have been waiting it to be on discount and hesitate to buy it as the reviews are mentioning about fatal error issue. Square Enix hasn't fixed the game yet. Please guys, let me know when they fix the fatal error issue. I have no choice but to refund this game at this point. Totally unplayable. I will "definitely" come back to buy this game once they fix it.

White screen upon boot, before title screen, after the first time playing the game. Spent two hours trying to fix it. Game is literally unplayable for most people.

be hesitant to buy this. If u get C++ fatal runtime errors you will need to rollback your Nvidia driver to 581.80. This is the only thing that fixed my issue. If they fix this issue on new drivers I'll gladly remove my negative score. I seriously almost refunded this out of pure frustration.

The best Final Fantasy for the Playstation 2, second best Final Fantasy after FF9. Incredible game overall.

For any faults it has, this game has still aged wonderfully coming back to it what must be at least a decade and a half after playing the original on my PS2 as a teenager. The job-focused rework of the license board makes every character actually feel unique, and while I was originally very hostile to the new re-arranged soundtrack, I had warmed up to it and had it turned on for the last couple dungeons. My only main gripe is that the story definitely suffered from the development hell the original release of the game went through; by the end of the game I felt like the story was in a SEVERE hurry to push me past the finish line with no room for exposition or further exploration of the game's various characters. For how much this game sets up a world full of political intrigue we barely get to see any of it after the events at Mt. Bur-Omisace! Regardless I recommend giving it a try especially if you're trying to be a FF completionist. Maybe you'll be a freak like me, not mind the Gambit-based battle system, and really have a fun time.

It's one of my favorite games to 100%. The story is mid and it's very different from other FF, but I find it to be the last FF I still enjoy replaying.
