これは凄いのか、もしろ残念なのか判断できない事ですが シリーズ１作目である本作で既に後にリリースされた続編の全ての要素がほぼ入っている ゲームとしての完成形が１作目で、それ以降は焼き増し感が強いタイプのシリーズ アーケード系レースゲームファンの方にならこの１作目はお勧めできます そうでない方が購入した場合１時間、よくて２時間弱プレイして それ以降このゲームの事が頭から自然に抜けて起動しなくなるタイプの買い物になってしまう可能性は十分考えられます

Nostalgia at its finest right here. It delivers if you remember it delivering all those years ago. Its also ridiculously refreshing to not have a 3rd party launcher, or have to connected to internet, or have to make it account. Old games over new games any day!

tl;dr get it on sale, it's good but pretty short (3 cups, 9+16+25 races, 3-5 laps, mostly 3). This is a dirt rally game, so the focus is on slippery serpantine hell rather than going fast on straight stretches of the road. It's very punishing, sometimes unfairly so (e.g. mild collision at slow speed + immovable object = comical car crash, shortcuts are more threatening than helpful, insane physics, etc) but it's not particularly hard outside of a few silver cup races. I felt like there was little to no rubberbanding (you lose enough speed at turns to make up for it though) and the game was mostly easy aside from the aforementioned silver cup. Not all cars are viable (don't buy the speedevil lmao) but there's fun to be had, it's not dated at all. Recommended. The music is good too. Also there are bonus games, you can do them any of them whenever, there's 3 tiers (they unlock at the start of each cup). They require too much practice to be good at, but they're optional, and high jump is a very easy way to make tons of money. For comparison: the second game leans more into the more mainstream, Need For Speed type of gameplay, so while it's good, I wouldn't compare it to its predecessor as they're in completely different leagues.

Please read. (4/10) Recommended, no. I came into flat-out with no nostalgia to this game or the series, So this was my first experience with the original game. Unfortunately, It didn't hold up particularly well for me. The biggest issue I had is the handling, The cars often feel heavy and unpredictable, Making races more frustrating than fun. The career can become repetitive, repeated maps and reversed ones too. Some events feel more like battles against the controls than AI. The damage system is impressive for its time, but by modern standards isn't enough to carry the gameplay. the soundtrack is cool and the damage certainly makes for some funny moments, you can certainly see the foundation for the series ahead. I can see why people played it on release and still come back to it but the lack of nostalgia and the sometimes frustrating gameplay didn't do it for me. I played this almost to complete in one night roughly 4 hours and all standard races completed, I did NOT have a great time with the other extra events like driver bowling and high jump they seemed clunky and very annoying to complete. The credit system is fine although the small car list isn't great for a first timer like me, nor the fact that any other place than 1,2,3rd results in absolutely no rewards at all and can be annoying when trying to complete a 4 or 5 lap long race (more of a pet peeve for me than an issue to everyone). I understand its an old game and I would recommend you play a few races if you get the entire collection just to see flat-outs roots. however the truth is simple. Older game, simpler, fun sometimes, frustrating most, repeating maps. (overall lack of interesting gameplay) Personally for a cheap game its FINE, One night just to see a golden oldie.. But for a week or two stint of playing, Definitely not. Please remember this is a personal review and your opinion may vary, I will be playing the rest of the games in series.

Still one helluva game! Works on ultrawide resolution natively, looks good, plays good. The destruction derby elements are there, but it's a racing game through-and-through.
