It’s basically Forza Horizon 5 with a new map. Sure, the map is beautiful, and the physics are amazing and genuinely fun to drive with, but those are pretty much the only good things about this game. Downsides oh, and there are A LOT of them Cringy AI slop dialogue: The dialogue is so cringy, forced, and unbearable that I literally had to go into the options menu and mute the dialogue just to get through it. It completely kills the immersion and makes some parts of the game feel like a bad AI generated script. Unskippable cutscenes: You can’t skip the cutscenes, so you’re forced to sit through them over and over. Apparently, because they spent money making flashy, Hollywood style scenes, you’re supposed to watch them whether you like it or not. Worthless delivery missions: Who thought driving through Tokyo delivering food was a good idea in a Forza game? These missions feel completely pointless and tedious. I bought a racing game to race, not to spend my time doing glorified food deliveries around the city. They add nothing meaningful to the experience and just feel like a waste of time. Character customization over actual car customization: Want to customize your car? Naaah, apparently there’s something much more important to customize, your character. You get billions of clothing options and random accessories for a character you barely even see because they’re sitting inside a car 99% of the time. At the end of the day, Forza Horizon 6 feels less like a proper sequel and more like Forza Horizon 5 with a new map, a bunch of unnecessary distractions, and more forced content. The driving itself is great, but everything surrounding it makes the game feel unnecessarily bloated and tedious. Honestly, this is going to be my last Forza title. I’m done giving them my money until they get their sh*t together and remember how to make a racing game that’s actually fun and enjoyable. Maybe instead of adding more pointless filler, forced dialogue, and things nobody asked for, they could focus on making the damn game enjoyable to play. Until then, I’ll happily sit this series out.

The Best Map, but Where Does It Rank? Looking Back at Every Horizon I collected every car in the game and completed everything except some jobs and online achievements. I left those jobs unfinished because they got so tedious that I just couldn’t bring myself to finish them. The hype has worn off. The people throwing around perfect scores during the first few weeks and calling this the best Forza ever have already moved on, and I doubt most of them will come back. At this point, it feels like the only people left are the ones cruising around with a steering wheel setup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpI0pY0eHr0 This might sound strange because it isn’t what people want to hear right now, but once you take a step back, you start to see how exaggerated a lot of the praise was. You might expect me to completely trash the game after that opening, but no. I just don’t think it lives up to the hype. I didn’t feel like posting this review until now because I knew people would say, “What more do you expect from this game?” just because the lighting and open world finally meet 2026 standards. Good racing games have been so scarce that people treat anything above average like it’s the best racing game of the last 30 years, then somehow fail to understand that an 80 score already means the developers delivered a genuinely great game. Reading this, you might think I don’t like the series, but as I mentioned below, I’ve played every Horizon game, including the first one. I even recreated a scene from Horizon 3’s reveal as a little tribute. You can find that screenshot on my profile. Back when Need for Speed was the popular choice, I was more into Midnight Club and Forza. The World Is the Highlight Starting with the positives, this is the best and most beautiful open world Playground Games has created so far. It feels fuller and much more detailed. The lighting is noticeably better than in the previous game, and nights actually feel like nights. The map also feels more organically designed, with more things to catch your attention while driving. Buying a car you come across along the road or stopping at a car meet makes simply cruising around more enjoyable. What Happened to the Personality? So why do I rank it relatively low within the series? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kVGdXEvTJ8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzfXoMOj4_M Some of you might ask, “Does an intro or a few cutscenes really make those games better than this one?” My answer is simple: you had to be there. Those games aren’t just nostalgia. They really had a soul. Making a game bigger on paper, adding more detailed textures, better lighting, more cars, and a larger map doesn’t automatically make it a better game. We’ve seen plenty of games follow the God of War formula, but how many can make you cry with a simple story about a woodcutter told inside a tent? Showcase events have always been one of Horizon’s biggest strengths. This game hasn’t even increased their number, and apart from one, maybe two at a stretch, none come close to the showcases in Horizon 3 and 4. Horizon 4’s opening race alone is a work of art. I’m going to do something I haven’t done before and give a quick rundown of the entire series, with my personal score for each game. Forza Horizon 4: 95/100 Four seasons that gave the same roads a different character, brilliant showcases, and an opening race I still remember. It took what worked in 3 and perfected the formula. Forza Horizon 2: 92/100 The Southern European setting, the music, and the road trip atmosphere made it feel like a summer you didn’t want to end. Driving to the next event was half the fun. Forza Horizon 3: 90/100 Australia had variety, personality, and showcases that were actually worth looking forward to. The 90 is for the base game. With Hot Wheels and Blizzard Mountain included, I’d put it second overall. Forza Horizon 1: 85/100 The strongest festival atmosphere in the series, with rivals and a sense that you were working your way toward something. Smaller and more limited, but full of personality. Forza Horizon 6: 80/100 Playground’s best open world yet, with excellent lighting and plenty of reasons to take a detour. I just wish the campaign and showcases gave me as much to remember as the scenery. Forza Horizon 5: 70/100 Still enjoyable to drive, but Mexico, the progression, and the presentation never kept me invested like the earlier games. Plenty to do, surprisingly little that stayed with me. I know this is a racing game. I’m not expecting to get out of the car and walk around like in GTA. But a lot of players, especially those discussing it on Steam, started with Horizon 3 and never experienced the original character of the series. Horizon 6 is full of cutscenes that are considerably worse than those in the first game. Instead of using prerendered scenes, they went with scenes rendered in the game engine, presumably for a more modern approach. They’ve been doing this since 3, but the result feels painfully lifeless. It often looks like two character models placed next to each other with their mouths moving. Just compare the intros of Horizon 1 and 2 with this one. That alone should tell you what I mean. The radio has been going downhill too. The music selection doesn’t come close to the early games. The cutscenes and presentation do nothing for me. I didn’t even feel excited about reaching the next showcase event. If you watched the mecha showcase released before launch, you’ve already seen the big attraction. Once that’s over, there isn’t much left to look forward to. I honestly can’t think of another event that was particularly memorable, and I’d bet most of you have already forgotten the others too. My Own Music, a New Build, and Just One More Edamame Mascot For all my complaints, I still catch myself launching the game for a quick drive and staying far longer than I planned. The lighting, the detail in the scenery, and the sheer variety of cars make cruising around genuinely enjoyable. I’ll head toward an event, spot a road I haven’t explored, switch cars along the way, and forget what I originally set out to do. That’s something Horizon has always done well, and this map gives me more reasons than ever to take the long way around. I spent plenty of time putting on my own music, driving around, and experimenting with different builds and tuning setups. I enjoyed those hours, but most of what made them fun was already there in the older games. + The fullest and best open world Playground Games has created so far. + Car sounds and interior details are technically impressive. + An extensive car lineup covering different eras and parts of the world, with plenty of variety in how each car feels to drive. + Detailed difficulty settings and customization options let you tailor the game to your own preferences. - Lifeless cutscenes and presentation that fall well short of the early games. - A radio soundtrack that doesn’t match the quality of the original entries. - Estate customization offers little payoff for the time you put into it. - Some later objectives require almost complete map completion, an frustrating restriction after so much freedom earlier on. Review Score 80/100

DO NOT BUY - Devs dropped GPU support after release, game is now broken. It was a decent game, but the latest update completely ruined it. The developers officially dropped support for older GPU architectures post-launch. Now, the game is completely unplayable. It crashes every 5 minutes with error code FHC11. I am completely locked out of a product I paid for, and Steam refuses to issue a refund because of my playtime. The developers literally stole $120 from me by changing the system requirements after taking my money. Absolute robbery. Avoid this company. I will never buy another product from Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios again. Everyone should boycott this game and these developers.

Please ignore time spent in game. I really wanted to love this game, I truly did. But there are many aspects about this game that I despise that will prevent me from ever purchasing another installment unless massive changes are made into this series. The good: - Map is definitely the best, and is incredibly beautiful and fun to drive in. - Car handling is a slight improvement from 5, but I wish they had made RWD more competitive. The bad: - The save/synch bug is incredibly bad and it is a total joke that they haven't fixed this yet. I lost hundreds of photos, liveries, and tunes because they insist on using the god awful Microsoft cloud. - I am so sick and tired of the live service aspect. You are still forced to play weekly event after weekly event to acquire newly added cars, and this is a pure FOMO tactic to make it look like there are an inflated number of players every Thursday. IF I HAVE TO DO ANOTHER CROSS COUNTRY UNLIMITED BUGGY RACE, I WILL LOSE MY MIND - I never enjoyed playground games that much, but they were at least a lot more fun than eliminator. These people somehow think that every game needs some stupid ******* battle royale mode. It's honestly incredible that this mode made it into this map, it is incredibly awful. - We were promised more customization options, and this has absolutely not happened. Some examples of Forza aero on certain car models, are in fact, somehow worse. How is it that GT7 has an impressive car roster (slightly smaller), but they at least offer much more grounded options for each car that don't butcher the appearance? - Who was the galaxy brain behind that awful and grindy food delivery mode ? I don't necessarily hate the idea of the mode, but the execution was awful and is the second most unfun thing I've ever done in a racing game behind only the eliminator. - Why are there so many cross country races, and buggy races, for a game that is located in Japan? Where are the togue races? Where are the street races? I find it incredible how they thought a simple copy/paste from the past 2 games was sufficient. - What ever happened to utilizing car meets? Nobody ever uses them, we can't walk around and explore other peoples' cars, I just don't get why this was advertised. It is so disappointing that they haven't found a solution to making this an actual feature. - Dev team has been incredibly radio silent compared to previous generations. Maybe this has to do the higher ups at Microsoft, but there has been literally zero community involvement or communication since release. - Nobody wants a ridiculous Lego or Hot Wheels expansion. Give us 2 expansions that are grounded and are part of the base map. Stop doing the same basic format over and over and over again. - The car pass feels like a complete rip off in some ways. Including cars from past games, and then charging for said cars, feels very very scummy. Especially since we cannot see ahead of time which cars will be included.

Alter!
