It's Freecell. Most of the negative reviews about this game are people who don't know how to play Freecell. Unlike many solitaire card games only one card may be moved at a time; Complete or partial tableaus may be moved to build on existing tableaus, or moved to empty cascades, only by a sequence of moves which recursively place and remove cards through intermediate locations. It's like that monkey/barrel stacking game where you can't put a bigger one on a smaller one and the puzzle is figuring out how to sort them all. The slight twist here is that you start with only 1 cell and will take damage if you take too long freeing trapped cards that can't be moved under a tableau that is too large for your current capacity. Beating a level gives you gold and EXP, as well as cards for a collection and sometimes random gear. If you collect a full set of 52 cards, you can trade them in to unlock an additional cell, allowing easier gameplay. (Duplicates can be traded for missing cards at a rate of 2:1) You can get up to 8 cells, to match the maximum 8-suit decks in endgame. (it's just another 52 deck with a different pattern on them) You can learn spells to spend mana in order to cheat with illegal moves, and equip basic gear that increases the simple list of stats you have: HP, Mana, and Defense. Some other bits too like bonus Exp or Gold. There are 554 levels to complete, and traveling around the map will sometimes hit you with a "random encounter" that is just having that node flipped back to incomplete, but if you beat it once before you can beat it again since the nodes aren't RNG, every node has a fixed layout. There is no tutorial for the rules of Freecell, the settings are minimal at best (two volume sliders and a language selector,) and the UI is lacking. The game hasn't seen a price reduction in the 10+ years it's been on steam, but it goes on sale as low as $2, so grab it if you see it then. It's cute, but not worth full price.
