Have you ever wondered how diplomacy works? This is the perfect game to showcase this. A beautiful RPG with captivating artwork and equally outstanding gameplay. The story is about two cousins; you play as De Sardet (Male or female), a noble diplomat who accompanies your cousin to Teer Fradee, a remote island, to find a cure for a plague they call Malichor, which your mother is currently suffering from, along with half the city. Your cousin Constantin d'Orsay has been appointed by his father, the prince, as a governor in New Serene, and you'll be helping him with his new assignment and trying to convince the other colonial factions to work with you, along with the islanders (The natives) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3803727727 Basically, the whole game is about building a reputation across all the cities and among the natives. Gaining their trust wouldn't be an easy task; you'll have to balance your choices, and that was the fun part. As in any RPG, you get multiple side quests alongside the main questline, which has 5 chapters; it is better to finish the side quests before proceeding to the main one. Keep in mind that those quests take time to finish; the gameplay isn't rushed; it leans more toward the slow-paced side. It took me 5 hours to clear the prologue alone! The battle system reminds me of their previous game, Bound by Flame. It is a mixture of tactical and hack-and-slash; you can also switch your weapons and classes mid-battle, using a sword or any melee weapon, then pull out your muskets and shoot those enemies, then heal yourself with magic or attack them with shadows. I enjoyed the fight a lot; you can also plant traps and throw grenades. You'll also gain skills and attributes as you level up, just like in other RPGs. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3811826438 As you progress through the story, you'll meet new people and gain companions you must bring with you; however, you can only bring 2 of 5, so choose wisely, as NPCs will react either negatively or be convinced by those you bring. The right companion will give you advice about the mission, or even help you with it, but if you insult their faction, it will lower their approval. It is similar to Bioware games, especially Dragon Age 2. Once you finish their side quests, you'll have the opportunity to romance four of the five companions; however, two of them are gender-locked. The graphics are out of this world; the scenery is so beautiful, and each map you visit is breathtaking. I couldn't help but take screenshots of half the game. The character designs are very nice; you can create a male or female character. While there are few options, they are still good. I enjoyed the outfit styles; they are immaculate and finely detailed. And the voice acting is top-notch; everyone did an outstanding job, especially Constantine and the female MC. You can feel the emotions from their voices. The writing is solid and kept me engaged in each and every quest. I liked the natives language and how they embedded it into the conversations. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3811866098 You are going to travel from one region to another. While there is a campfire that lets you fast-travel, along with other 'stones' or the edges of the map, it still felt like a chore sometimes. I didn't hate it, but wished we had the opportunity to travel without needing to go to those campfires. The journal is very useful and full of information you'll need to track your quests. You also have to pay attention to what the NPCs say; they'll refer you to someone else for extra information, which now appears in your quest log. Talking to the other NPCs will trigger extra lore. Pros: +Emotionally beautiful story. +Beautiful soundtracks. +Phenomenal voice acting. +Outstanding graphics and character models. +Great character development. +Medieval fantasy. +Useful journal. +Hours of adventure. +Auto-save and infinite manual save +Good mixture of combat systems (You can use all classes at once) +Multiple endings. +Steam achievements. Cons: -During conversations, sometimes the companions and other NPCs block the view, and you can't see what is going on. I played the game with a controller and had no issues. I highly recommend this gem, and I'm happy to see that the new one has already been released. I'm excited to play it after finishing writing this review. There's only ONE way to recommend this game: play the first few hours normally, then focus on the main quest and rush through the rest. Otherwise, it's mostly frustration. This is one of those games that makes me wish Steam had an option somewhere between "Recommended" and "Not Recommended." But if I have to choose, I unfortunately can't recommend it. Why? Let's start with the positives: * Great cutscenes * Strong voice acting * Fantastic lore foundations and ideas * Beautiful world-building — atmospheric and a joy to explore * A solid main quest with good variety and some interesting developments * Good soundtrack * The ability to respec skills and talents during the same playthrough to experiment with different playstyles * Great visuals Now for some of the problems: * Quests involve far too much running back and forth, while fast travel points are often placed annoyingly far away * Locations, especially interiors, feel dead because NPCs just stand around doing nothing * The skill tree isn't designed for higher levels and becomes both unbalanced and largely pointless halfway through the game * You replace equipment fairly often early on, but eventually you just get the best gear and that's it * Alchemy and crafting are extremely basic and not particularly useful * Looting feels almost pointless * The factions are interesting in concept, but their logic is often completely ridiculous and makes very little sense There are plenty of smaller issues I could overlook and still somehow recommend the game. But the biggest and most frustrating problem is the dialogue options and quest logic. They're just unbelievably awful. I genuinely can't put it any nicer than that. I feel bad for the people who created this beautiful world and came up with the lore and the foundations of everything around it. Even the main quest is mostly fine. But who the hell came up with the dialogue and quest logic? It's like asking Michelangelo to sculpt David and then letting his three-year-old grandson paint it while taking a dump on half of it. Does nobody review these scripts? I honestly can't remember a single side quest or companion quest that didn't leave me thinking, "What the hell is this nonsense?" And if you're going to build a story around political games and court intrigue, maybe don't make it so absurd that the cracks are visible at first glance. The gameplay isn't strong enough to stand out from other RPGs. As mentioned before, systems like alchemy and crafting are both incredibly basic and somehow still largely useless. And the story suffers from writing that is so poor that it's hard to enjoy that part either. So in the end - that doesn't leave much. Like I said, I genuinely feel bad for the people who clearly put a lot of effort into certain aspects of this game. GreedFall shows incredible potential, and that's the reason I pushed through the frustration and finished it. But there definitely won't be a second playthrough, and if someone asks me for a RPG recommendation, GreedFall would be very far down the list.

This is a 4/10 game. Or, calling it a game is a bit generous. it's more of a "Run Back and Forth"-simulator and a more proper title than Greedfall would be Fetch Quest Simulator. This game has zero value, so even buying it at 90% off on sale is a waste of your money, but first hand a waste of your finite time here on earth. It's shallow, underdeveloped, insanely repetitive, and the world is more or less dead, with NPC's just standing around waiting for you. There's in total three different environments that are reused from star to finish. The combat is simplistic and boring. The RPG systems are mostly there for show and has no real consequences. Your build has no narrative impact. The script is tedious and infantile, the dialogues are boring and written by a midwit. Unmemorable characters and two-dimensional characterization. Awful party banter. The music is lifeless. Everything, and I mean everything, is generic and predictable. About halfway through you'll notice there's no reason to pick up loot from one of the 5 different monsters there are in total. This game is lifeless, static and dead, and I just can't take it anymore. I'm closing in on the end, but I just can't see this through.

This is a tough one. I can say I enjoy parts of it, mainly story, lore, and characters, but the combat is so eurojank. If you can stomach eurojank then it is a recommend on that front. For the others, you can skip this and look elsewhere or wait for sale if you're reaaaally curious. +feels like mass effect 1 or dragon age origins with its party dynamics +story and lore can draw you in +you are role playing as De Sardet, as in your character has some actual characterization and personality, though you do make choices and can go against the norm which have corresponding consequences +biggest praise I can give is that it is trying to achieve the likes of Mass Effect 1 levels of story, lore, and characterization -HATE the combat: full of euorjank, beasts with charge attacks are the most annoying because the hitbox for the charge starts during the windup of the attack -HATE that after some combat encounters the bodies despawn so you can't loot them afterwards -controls stiff

Nota Final: 7/10

Simple, straightforward. Good story, worldbuilding and companions. scratches the RPG itch. I would call it Bioware lite. You can tell the developers cared, but didn't have the resources. I can overlooked common complaints about asset reusing and combat. A couple DLCs & patches would benefit it and a little bit better batching of quest.
