I expected HackHub to simplify hacking and cybersecurity for gameplay purposes while still staying reasonably close to real tools and real-world workflows. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the case consistently. One example is whois, which works in the game roughly the way it does in reality. That is useful because you actually learn something transferable. But then the game uses lynx as an “Information Gathering Tool” that can search for people and supposedly find social media contacts, addresses, IP activity, and other OSINT information. The problem is: Lynx is a real tool, but it is a text-based web browser. It is not an OSINT people-search tool with those capabilities. For beginners, this is especially confusing. The game gives the impression that you are learning real commands and real cybersecurity tools, while in some cases you are actually memorizing completely fictional functionality. Later, when you try the same thing on Linux or Kali, you discover that what you learned in the game does not work at all. Simplification in a game is completely understandable. But then the developers should either: - use real tools with roughly their real functions, - use fictional tool names for fictional functions, - or clearly mark which commands and mechanics only exist inside the game. Using the name of a real cybersecurity/Linux tool and giving it a completely different purpose is probably the worst option for a game that presents itself as being related to hacking and cybersecurity. As entertainment, HackHub may still be enjoyable. But as an introduction to real cybersecurity tools and command-line knowledge, I cannot recommend it in its current form. Beginners may end up having to unlearn incorrect information afterward. That is especially disappointing because with a little more technical authenticity, HackHub could have been both entertaining and genuinely educational.

This review is based on the single player game since I have no idea what's going on in the main menu. Initially it feels like a proper hacking game but after an hour or so you realize it's far from it. The progression is very linear with the game constantly telling you what you should do and forbids you from doing anything else. This also removes the essence of hacking, which is thinking of possible solutions and problem solving. The world-building is very poor with the built in search engine and web being basically empty. For instance in one mission you need to find information on a hotel which somehow doesn't exist at all in search engines, doesn't have a webpage but still has a working domain and IP you can hack. Tools have real world names but are sometimes used completely wrong. For instance wireshark is magically able to capture packets from the other side of the world without any hacking required. The game is also super strict about the order of tool parameters for no apparent reason. The user interface and especially the terminal is annoying to use. Tab completion works but only sometimes. Copy-paste in a terminal will result in you loosing the cursor focus and having to scroll back down to the terminal prompt and clicking on it in order to actually write your command. There are better hacking games out there, play those instead.

Игра очень приятная, кайфанул повайбил, случались трудности но я их решал (иногда не без помощи интернета). Всё ещё выполняю разные работы и миссии. Есть мисси по популярным темам такие как сливы гта6 или файлы эпштейна)).

TL;DR - This game is an attempt to modernize the popular "hacknet" style game, but unfortunately no aspect of it is skillfully executed... so I can't recommend this to anyone. It's riddled with the "relied too much on AI" style bugs. The kind that happen when code compiles fine but the behavior isn't correct. No crashes, but strange behavior. Especially when it comes to the UI. It's the thing that's normally caught by the programmer, but for some reason here these were missed/unable to be fixed. The English version of the game is poorly localized. The art is mostly AI generated. The story is largely nonsensical and could be improved with, and I'm not joking, maybe 2 hours of effort put into the single player narrative. The idea is sound and there's vision, but the quality just isn't there. I think we're really just looking at a fledgling dev studio that are in a bit over their heads.

HackHub makes an excellent first impression. The simulated desktop is beautiful, responsive, customizable, and much smoother than most hacking games. The terminal uses recognizable commands and tools, and the overall presentation immediately makes you want to explore. Then you try to actually play it. I have 1500+ hours in Grey Hack and know how to learn a system. This is not a learning-curve problem. The game literally blocks access to the site that leads into the multiplayer job loop, and without player-made resources outside the game pointing me toward the in-game player made sites, I would not have known how to start the advertised multiplayer experience. That is poor design. I spent more than eleven hours figuring out how to reach the multiplayer gameplay loop—not enjoying eleven hours of multiplayer, but searching through the filesystem, handbook, terminal commands, browser, stores, Workshop mods, community discussions, reinstalls, and cloud-save behavior to determine where the advertised game was hiding. The answer exists, but it is communicated so poorly that the initially barren experience appears to be the complete game. The simulated internet is extremely sparse. Workshop subscriptions provide little indication of where their content went. Scripting exists but feels disconnected from the operating system. You cannot obtain root access on your own computer. Much of the “procedural world” appears to exist only after something specifically generates it. Even the multiplayer job loop is hidden behind a path that the game does an astonishingly poor job of explaining. and if it werent for players making job sites, you would never know where to go, what to do, or how to do it. 1. browse internet... what internet 2. hack everyone... except you cant even ping IP address that we deem not important and they dont exist so dont get your hopes up. more like hack bill... and with this new update... hack bill's neighbor frank. 3. Challenge authority, rewrite the rules, and emerge as the ultimate digital rebel... unless the rule you want to rewrite is to gain root access on your own pc. NO... THAT'S NOT ALLOWED HackHub has considerable potential. Once it has a populated world, useful mod integration, a meaningful internet, practical scripting, stronger documentation, and a discoverable multiplayer loop, it may become an excellent game. Unfortunately, that is not a feature wishlist. That is most of the game. They sold me an immaculate hacker desktop and a locked door leading to a mostly unfurnished building. I spent eleven hours picking the lock, walked inside, and discovered that the lock was the most developed system in the product. I am keeping it because the foundation genuinely interests me, and perhaps future updates will put a game inside this beautiful shell. For now, however, I cannot recommend it as a finished hacking simulator.

Игра прям хороша, я четсно кайфанул. Большую часть времени я уже пишу скрипты и автоматизирую все что можно, играясь разными механиками. Но, товарищи разрабы, поправьте пожалуйста Code++ с импортами. Если файл лежит НЕ В ОДНОЙ папке с текущим, импорт будет давать ошибку TS2307 (module not found), при этом сами скрипты работают, ошибок нет. Но нет автокомплита и подсказок по константам, enum и прочему. И сделайте пожалуйсте поддержку индексных файлов человеческую. Сейчас: import { buzz } from "../utils/index" Сам utils/index.ts: export { fizz } from "./fizz"; export { buzz } from "./buzz"; Хотелось бы иметь короткий импорт, как принято уже во всех IDE с ES6 import { fizz, buzz } from "../utils";

Игра интересная, но невероятное количество багов из-за чего вы просто не сможете играть дальше. нашёл данные устройства - ввожу все данные в exploit (всё корректно) - выдаёт ошибку Port 26834 could not be accessed хотя в nmap -ip -sV показывает именно этот порт (единственный) Жопа сгорела знатно причём багает рандомно. в первом сейвев забагало на 10-й части про сестру журналиста во втором сейве на 4-й
