TLDR: Amazing - but buy it on GoG if you want it to run stable. Homeworld and Homeworld 2 are masterpieces. Unparalleled games from Relic at their peak. Shame about HW3. That was truly dreadful. This collection is all you need. And Cataclysim (or 'emergence' as it's now known for some reason). I recommend these games highly (plus the remastered collection also contains the classic HW and HW2 if you really want to go full nostalgia). BUT - I don't recommend buying this on Steam. It crashes and freezes all the time, and for some reason the UI settings don't work properly in-game. I tried everything from BIOS updates to disabling steam overlays, etc. and this game just kept freezing up and crashing and giving GPU driver timeout errors. Frustrated and fed up with trying to find GPU settings or other fixes I picked the collection up on sale on GoG - and it works perfectly. No crashes, nothing. Played fully half the way through the remastered HW campaign in a single sitting and not one issue.

The story is awesome. The gameplay takes a bit to get used to. I strongly suggest taking time with the tutorial. The music is incredible for mood setting. Without the music, this game would not hit as hard as it does. Funny spaceships go BRRR!

Good old Homeworld but refreshed :-) If you've never played it - the campaign story is top-notch, you get to really FEEL it not just play it; the music is great, the graphics very good. The game is a challenge, too, you need to manage your expenses carefully since the resources are very limited in each mission. Edit: ugh, one BIG downside to the remaster is that campaign balance is completely... off-balance. The difficulty of missions varies madly with some missions completely impossible without mods. And with mods... game tends to crash a lot. So, while Homeworld games are great and I still agree with my original review, it needs to be said that the quality of the remaster is questionable :-(

傻逼动态难度 严重过誉的系列。Z轴形同虚设，徒增理解和操作负担，既没带来真正立体的战术层次，还把战斗搅得毫无章法，失去一般 RTS该有的策略微操。地图空旷、场景单薄，任务形式也少，记忆点几乎全靠运镜和配乐硬撑。叙事更是经不起推敲，剥去宗教外衣，剧情既无内在逻辑，又处处机械降神。再看水雷社别的 RTS，剧情向来漏洞百出、靠硬抬场面收场，从没真正写好过一次，在这种前提下还吹老家园剧情优秀，更像天方夜谭。它真正留下的，多半是时代滤镜里的氛围，绝对不是经得起玩、也经得起读的作品

Невимовно важка гра. Вбив кілька годин на перепроходження 4 місії. Користувався навіть ґайдами і підказками і все одно не зміг знищити боса місії. Не вартує мого часу. Шкода змарнованих грошей. Ігри мають приносити радість, а не пригнічувати.

Very fun base game and some of the greatest mods I've ever played on a game, but the mods are great cause of the mechanics and the game they mod. So if you want my 2 cents, play the base game first, then try some mods. But all up to you.

For Homeworld 1: The gameplay still has several issues. The scaling issue is absolutely awful and breaks the game (and should be modded out), some of the units are completely useless, there are several really frustrating levels, and the game really benefits from having a walkthrough (or just knowing what you’re doing). This is alongside some really good unit design, fun levels, fantastic controls… and yes, the story is amazing. Music, voice acting, very tight writing, fantastic presentation, atmosphere, horror, triumph, theme, animation… this is a shockingly good story wrapped around a solid game. The dynamic difficulty system completely screws over the gameplay, with frustrating and boring missions, with samey endless waves of enemies. And all of that is on top of a dull chosen one hero story which destroys existing canon and just kind of sucks top to bottom even when you actually understand what’s going on. This remaster should be an example of how other remastered games should look alike if we are speaking of quality and this didn't break the nostalgia of original Homeworld at all. It is the best RTS game I have ever played with unique story and soundtrack which fits perfectly to every scene where it gives more depth of whole universe. Overall 10/10
