I enjoy the concept of the game, but it's mainly the bots that is throwing me off and making me uninstall Usually I don't delete games until I 100% them, but the bots in this game are just forcing me to I could be hiding in a place where a human wouldn't notice me, and then the bot just knows I'm there and shoots me Or that bots on my side are useless, and they can't be an officer so no support at all There's also an achievement where you have to kill six enemies while bleeding. Normally it should be easy but it isn't when the bots on my side just walk up to me to heal me The game is not bad but the bots are ruining it for me

As someone who played verdun, and just got back into this series via Gallipoli, the progression completely kills my interest in the game. It takes an extraordinary amount of time to level up and complete the necessary challenges to unlock gear that I am already familiar with from playing other games in the WWI series. The maps are gorgeous, the the near-hitscan travel time for bullets is honestly fun to come back to, and I also find the command stations charming. Once I get past that initial excitement of running around in the alps, I find myself quite bored. The solution is obvious, but maybe hard to implement? You could track playtime amongst other ww1 games, achievements earned amongst other ww1 games, or simply ownership of other wwI games, and let that translate to some sort of xp boost. Maybe it's because I like using tools and trying out different weapons, but I find myself pretty frustrated playing this game with 0 options for kit. At just under two hours, I think it's kinda nuts that I am still rounding the corner on unlocking like, one new gun. My points and kills per round have been decent too! For new players deciding which of the four games to get, the answer is pretty much this one or gallipoli.... Maybe Verdun if you have friends who want you to play rifle deathmatch with them. There are, in my opinion, two main factors to decide which of the two recent games in the series to pick up: Maps and gunplay. For maps- both games have their highs and lows. Gallipoli is still gaining new maps, so Isonzo has more variety as things currently stand. Gallipoli mainly has desert environments, and Isonzo takes place in the alps. Isonzo's best maps are more dynamic than Gallipoli's at this point, but it has it's weak points as well. Some sectors are absolute meatgrinders that kind of suck to play, and some maps lack variety. Gallipoli does have the rowboat section on one of its maps, which is... Kind of terrible, but also really funny and cinematic. You can kind of just wait to spawn until you hit the beaches, and from there it's actually pretty attacker-sided, at least for the first sector. For gunplay, you have to decide how much you are okay with leading long-range shots. Isonzo is very, very close to hitscan. I'll only have to put my crosshair like, a pixel in front of a guy who is over 100 meters away and sprinting, and I'll get the kill. With Gallipoli, you have to actually lead shots, which was actually fairly comfortable for me as someone coming from Hunt Showdown. These are both fine, and in my opinion, they work well within their respective games. Pistols are also better in the newest entry, which some people don't like. I think it actually works well for Gallipoli, but likely wouldn't work as well for Isonzo, which I find to generally be a faster paced game. Machine guns feel like more of a utility in Gallipoli, which is cool. There is a suppression mechanic which can make it hard for riflemen to just sit in bunkers and take shots. You have to have a more flexible game-plan, and the interplay between snipers, HMG users, and spotters is a lot more interesting than in previous games in the series. The existence of squad beacons add to the strategy and teamwork, and overall make Gallipoli almost feel like the "Battlefield" entry in the ww1 series, if anyone remembers that old series from decades past. I think Tannenberg was supposed to fill that role, but didn't quite succeed. Final thoughts- if you are working your way thru the series because you really enjoy these games, you may find yourself in the same predicament that I do. If you are deciding which game to start with, Both this game and Gallipoli are excellent, it just matters what you value in a war game.

I really don't like leaving this review, but yeah, it's what I gotta do. I played this game a bit when it first came out and the main thing that drove me away was the bots - they're both too dumb and too smart at the same time. For the former, they just don't play the objective nor play their roles (e.g., building ammo crates) and they can't play officers at all, playing as the attacker in a bot lobby is not a fun time because you're guaranteed to lose. For the latter, they'll see you in places where they have no business seeing you, and if you come up behind them, they'll do a 360 turn and noscope you just like that. They're the worst bots out of any game in this series, bar none. There are lots of things I DO like about this game - the graphics are great, the visual scenery is spectacular, there's a lot of customization options, and I'm really interested in the historical side of things. But I just can't in good conscience recommend this game solely for the whole bot thing. I came back after Gallipoli came out hoping that they might've improved it over the years, but they're the same as they were - you won't get any support from allied bots, and the enemy ones are aimbots. Especially significant for this game because it's a niche series and the playerbase is always going to be quite small, when there's a new game, most people will migrate over to that. So, even if you prefer this setting, I'd say to get Gallipoli instead, the bots are way better there and there's been a lot of improvements otherwise. Then, this one will die and you'll be left with only bots, which is not worth it. Ultimately, none of the things I do like about this game matter much when the bots you're playing against will nullify most of the potential to have fun.

I've come back to this game after playing Gallipoli for a while. The gunplay is just soooo good in this game. It feels responsive, snappy, quick. It's hard not compare it to Gallipoli, but coming back has been a breath of fresh air. The pacing of this game also just feels right. Currently this is the best game in the series in my opinion. I hope my grievances with Gallipoli are addressed (gunplay, balance, pacing) because it adds a lot of interesting and fun mechanics, but until then I highly reccomend Isonzo over any other in the series.
