When I first played the game, I thought it didn't work. Only to find out that the game is controlled only be the keyboard. This it the first time I've ever had to play a card game with a keyboard. It's very awkward, unintuitive and time consuming to select and position cards where you want. If the developer decides to implement a mouse option, than I will update my review.

I love card games. I love games with a little bit of strategy involved. What I don't love is a clunky, uninspired game that relies mostly on luck and nothing else. Janken Cards is played by stacking rock, paper, and scissors cards up and trying to claim columns. Columns are claimed by either filling them with the same card, or tricking your opponent into wrecking the column. If you place a card that "beats" the other card (for example, scissors placed over paper), then you take over the placed cards and gain points. The game's winner is decided if one player gets 3 columns, or by whoever has the most points when the cards run out. The idea of the game is decent enough, but where it fails is the execution. There are powerups that try to keep the game fresh, but you'll never get them. They are passed out to the computer player like candy, but it's rare for the human player to get even one. In fact, so much of the game relies on luck, which is horrible because if felt like the game favours the computer players so much. Players will constantly find themselves with 3 of the same card unable to do much of anything. The computers never make a mistake, and difficulty stays consistent throughout the entire game instead of slowly easing players into it and building up their skills. If you manage to win, you don't really feel like you accomplished anything because so much of the game relies on luck. The graphics were nothing special. While the decks and backgrounds were pretty nice and I liked the customization options, the characters were so lame. They look painfully generic, like they were taken from a clipart collection or something. Saturn, the dog character, is the worst offender. The constant annoying chattering they do through the match was also annoying. Oh, and you can't even control the game with the mouse. It seems pretty basic to program clicking and dragging cards to place them, and even card games I've played on Windows 98 got this correct! Janken Cards makes you control the game with the keyboard, which just feels awkward. It allegedly has controller support as well, but it wouldn't work with my Xbox 360 controller so I am not sure which controller it supports. Overall, Janken Cards is not worth wasting your time or money on. It tries to be something different than a typical card game, but fails due to it's poor execution and over-reliance on luck.

Come funziona?

Turn based card game with simple but unusual gameplay. 5 columns of cards where you stack them on top of each other. You can use one of 3 cards currently in your hand. Available cards are: double score, extra move, rock, paper and scissors. Goal is to score points by putting winning cards atop and getting chain bonus but when column gets empty you trigger a bomb and lose that column in favor of your opponent. Same goes when column gets full of different cards. To own column fill it with single type of cards, that is 5. Win columns to win the game. Play smart by preventing your opponent from scoring. Difficulty wise - it might get challenging.

Okay but honestly f*ck the negative reviews, this game is great and I love the simplicity. Its a simple rock paper scissors card game and the gameplay is pretty fun. Bought this game as a joke since janken in dutch means crying, but hey, actually quite enjoying this title. Only downside to this game is that you can't use your mouse, which feels kinda strange but is easy to get used to. would love to see some updates, even though this game is fairly 'old' (2016).

It's 2018 (okay, it was released in 2016, but still) and this game cannot be controlled with the mouse. Even in the menus. You must be joking Positive: + Original game + Kinda strategic Negative: - Kinda luck-based - Moving cards from point A to point B without a mouse gets annoying really, really fast - Limited time for moves, making the lack of mouse control as bad as it can possibly get
