This game is actually very fun! I'm sorry to hear the devs' studio broke up, so there won't be anymore updates. Still, I recommend everyone try this game out. :)

Ich hab Locomoto jetzt nach ungefähr 20 Stunden mit Hauptstory, einigen Nebenquests und allen Achievements durch und muss sagen: Ich find das Game legit einfach mega cute. Das Gameplay ist super entspannt, die Grafik gefällt mir richtig gut und selbst bei der Charaktererstellung hat man erstaunlich viel Auswahl. Mein absolutes Highlight ist aber definitiv das Zugdesign. Man kann sich seine Waggons selbst zusammenstellen, die Reihenfolge bestimmen und innen wie außen eigentlich alles so gestalten, wie man Bock hat. Farben, Tapeten, Böden, Teppiche – und vor allem die Möbel. Die craftet man nämlich selbst und je nachdem, welches Holz, Metall, Gestein oder welche Stofffarbe man verwendet, sehen die am Ende auch unterschiedlich aus. Man kann seiner Kreativität da wirklich ziemlich freien Lauf lassen und sich seinen Zug komplett nach dem eigenen Geschmack zusammenbauen. Die Spielwelt ist jetzt nicht überdimensional groß, aber das muss sie meiner Meinung nach auch gar nicht sein. Jeder Ort hat irgendwie seinen eigenen kleinen Charme und auch die Charaktere haben ihre eigenen Geschichten. Was ich besonders süß finde: Die NPCs existieren nicht einfach nur, damit sie dir irgendeine Quest geben, sondern haben Beziehungen untereinander. Manche sind verwandt, befreundet oder zusammen, andere haben sich gestritten und müssen sich wieder versöhnen. Auch Diversität und Pronomen werden im Spiel ganz selbstverständlich eingebaut, was ich persönlich sehr schön gemacht finde. Neben Fahrgästen kann man auch Pakete transportieren, Ressourcen sammeln und jede Menge Nebenquests erledigen. Das Gameplay ist dadurch schon relativ repetitiv – man fährt halt viel von A nach B und wieder zurück –, aber ich empfand das tatsächlich überhaupt nicht als negativ. Für mich gehört das einfach zu diesem entspannten Cozy-Feeling dazu. Zwischendurch gibt es auch immer wieder kleinere Rätsel und Suchaufgaben. Bei manchen muss man schon mal ein bisschen überlegen, aber es ist jetzt nichts, wo man sich drei Stunden den Kopf zerbricht. Zur Hauptstory möchte ich gar nicht großartig etwas sagen, weil ich nichts spoilern will. Ich fand sie aber wirklich sehr sweet. Die Charaktere helfen sich gegenseitig, man selbst hilft natürlich auch überall mit und insgesamt hat das Ganze einfach dieses schöne Gemeinschaftsgefühl. Dabei werden auch ein paar echt coole Themen aufgegriffen. Nach ungefähr 20 Stunden hatte ich die Hauptstory, mehrere Nebenquests und alle Achievements fertig und finde das für den Preis völlig in Ordnung. Mein größter „Kritikpunkt“ ist eigentlich, dass ich gerne noch mehr davon hätte. Falls irgendwann noch neue Orte, Charaktere oder Storycontent dazukommen sollten, würde ich das definitiv wieder anschmeißen. Einen richtigen Kritikpunkt habe ich aber beim Crafting: Es gibt verdammt viele Baupläne und Rezepte und wenn man seinen Zug in einem bestimmten Stil baut und dann genau dieses eine Möbelstück nicht findet, kann das schon nerven. Gerade weil man für manche Möbel auch erstmal ordentlich Materialien sammeln muss. Ich bin teilweise legit zwei bis drei Stunden durch die Gegend gefahren, nur damit ich ein Abteil genauso einrichten konnte, wie ich es haben wollte. Eine bessere Übersicht oder Hinweise, wo noch fehlende Baupläne zu bekommen sind, wären deshalb ziemlich geil. Vielleicht entsteht irgendwann auch eine vernünftige Community-Wiki dafür. Ansonsten habe ich aber wirklich erstaunlich wenig zu meckern. Locomoto ist einfach ein richtig süßes, entspanntes Game, bei dem ich deutlich mehr Zeit mit meinem Zugdesign verbracht habe, als ich ursprünglich erwartet hätte. Wer Cozy-Games mag und gerne sammelt, craftet und dekoriert, dem kann ich das Spiel auf jeden Fall empfehlen.

decent little cozy game, I dont play single player games much, idk why I got so into this one. Alot of traveling of course since its about trains mainly. Only thing I didnt really like is there was a few bugs here and there and mostly not being able to just pick up everything in a car at once to change it out for a new car, I didnt put new cars on specifically for this reason, I didnt want to pick everything up and put it all back down again.

If you told me I would get sucked into a game where you play as an ambiguous animal creature conducting a train to help the cities around it... I would believe you because that sounds right up my ally and it is! This game is so cute and easy playing. It is very much so a go fetch game, where almost all of the quests are take this thing here or go get this and I think it works really well for the type of game it is. You also get to design your train and its very rewarding when you are able to get all the supplies to build the items for the train. I really enjoy the slow progression of the whole thing while being fully engaged by the story. I played this game on my Steam Deck and it played really well! So that was a plus. Over all, I absolutely recommend this game to someone who enjoys a more slow going easy game.

This game has HUGE animal crossing vibes, and given that this game is also available on the Nintendo Switch, it makes sense to have those kinda vibes. It has a really cosy feel to it and the game does really well to represent the LGBTQ movement by having two female characters as lovers and some characters who are nonbinary. The story can get quite emotive in some parts and there's plenty of side quests to keep you occupied, I would highly recommend this game.

So! I didn't realize that this game was a thing until a week ago, but when I saw it, I jumped on it and I'm not disappointed. It checks a whole bunch of my boxes. Cute characters, sharp dialogue, a wonderfully chilled soundtrack and trains! I've put 22 hours in so far and I'm still quite enjoying the story as it progresses. You can be as casual or as storyline focused as you like, which is great! There are no bonuses for doing a delivery quickly, nor any penalties for letting a passenger ride around the map three times before hitting their stop. If I did have a complaint, once you reach mid-game you can really get bogged down by all of the package and passenger deliveries that pile up if you take them all on. But, since I took every passenger I could find, I have no one but myself to blame. All in all, a great game. Not too deep, plenty to do, humorous characters, crisp downbeat soundtrack and loads of customization. Definitely worth the price.

Very nicely made game. It was everything I've ever wanted in a train game. Unfortunately, it gets repetitive quickly, and I found that I ran out of things to look forward to. Sadly I can't reliably say I'd play for another 8 hours.
