I had mixed feelings about the game, but at the end I decided to write this review as a positive one, despite the many caveats. They are not gamebreaking (unless you count broken achievements), but being better informed is the best. Magibot is a cute and quite simple puzzle game. It looks like it's been ported from mobile devices, but actually the PC version came a year before it has been ported to android and iphone/ipad. ( The 13€ game costs 3-4€ on mobiles, it's a different market) Positives of the game: quite a lot, actually. Objectively it's a good, solid product, and it works well from start until finish. It's appealing both in gameplay, and in looks. Could have a tad faster movement/game speed, but otherwise it overall has good qualities to it. Music is nice, it tries to tell a story and kinda succeeds at it so it's not just puzzle levels. Negatives, the mentioned caveats: Pet peeves, inconsistencies and problems. Annoying or dealbreaking, your mileage may vary. -First of all: this is a PC game, and someone in 2017 thought it's a good idea to use wasd, mouse and Enter at the same time. Why not F instead of Enter? There are so many buttons around wasd that would allow comfy play. ( Also, no way to rebind controls) -It's likely engine-side, but when placing the magic circles, the game treats clicking and dragging completely illogically. If you drag one circle, your next click will place one. If you click on the "stash" of circles, you just drop one of them immediately there. If you want to delete, you have to click the delete button and then the circles. - Platform surfaces are misaligned. You can stuck just below the top horizontal side of any platform when wind pushes you up, because it overreaches the vertical one, leading to numerous deaths and repeat. ( Imagine it as the letter T) I experienced this at least half a dozen times in one run, in about 4 hours! Why no tester pointed this out? Likely it's super easy to fix. -If testers were mentioned - some levels feature some kind of storm chasing you, having a pretty scary darkness-tendrils-rocks flying feel to them. That, coupled with the snow levels' snowing effect makes that chapter visually super noisy. And for some reason, the storm's darkness only affects the surface items placed on levels ( climbable walls, surface you're running on, surface of walls) - but not the bulk of the walls, and the "outside of the game" areas. It's visually jarring to see those straight lines where the filter stops being applied. Nobody noticed it while in development? :| - The ingame cube-counter - for some reason - shows half of the collected cubes. ( I have 43 ingame, 86 at the save slots screen). I stopped caring about them after it turned out that: -Most of the progress achievements are broken. % completion, areas visited, cubes collected - just doesn't work after reaching a specific point. I got "The Rage" around the end of the game, but that's all, nothing else since-around the 25% completion one. ( Say hi to the people using SAM to unlock everything) So, basically that's all. Game is cute, game is nice, but somehow nothing got the same care the core graphics got. General looks, gameplay, controls, steam implementation - these are all problematic, scaling from messy to outright not working.

How can you not love these guys? They're giving out 30% discount for a week upon launch. The gameplay is mostly puzzle but some dex is required. If you want an action packed platform game, this is not for you. The game has nice simpe graphics and soundtracks are nice and appropriately selected. My only complain is that its kinda short. Finished 100% in about 7 hours. The game's story is simple but good enough for you to have a genuine interest/curiosity. I'd say it did its job quite well.

Magibot, developed by Studio Baikin and published by Plug In Digital, is a hybrid platformer that blends traditional side-scrolling movement with light strategic planning and puzzle mechanics. At first glance, it appears to be a charming 2D adventure starring a small robot wizard named Ilo, but its core design quickly reveals a more deliberate and thoughtful gameplay structure. Rather than relying purely on reflexes, Magibot asks players to pause, analyze, and plan before execution, giving the experience a distinctive rhythm that separates it from standard platformers. The narrative sets the stage with a simple but engaging premise. Humanity, facing extinction on Earth, sends Ilo to a distant planet in search of terraforming beacons that could offer a new beginning. Armed with a magical book and a pointed wizard hat, this small robotic protagonist must traverse hostile terrain filled with environmental hazards and strange creatures. The story remains light and unobtrusive, serving primarily as thematic framing rather than an emotionally driven arc. It provides enough context to motivate progression without overshadowing the gameplay. The defining feature of Magibot is its pre-placement system. Before Ilo begins moving through a level, players must strategically place action blocks along the terrain. These blocks dictate how Ilo will behave when encountering specific obstacles, effectively programming his movements in advance. This mechanic introduces an element of foresight that transforms each stage into a miniature planning puzzle. Players must anticipate how Ilo will interact with platforms, hazards, and enemies, choosing the correct combination of commands before setting the plan in motion. Once activated, Ilo executes the programmed sequence, and the success of the run depends on the accuracy of the preparation. This blend of programming-style logic and real-time platforming gives Magibot a unique identity. While the execution phase retains the feel of a traditional platformer—with jumps, hazards, and timing-based challenges—the planning phase encourages strategic thinking. The interplay between these two phases creates a satisfying loop: observe the level, devise a solution, test it, adjust placement if necessary, and refine the path forward. Mistakes are part of the learning process, and repetition feels constructive rather than punishing. The game offers a structured progression across multiple levels divided into puzzle-focused and action-oriented modes. Puzzle stages emphasize careful placement and optimization, rewarding players who can visualize the outcome of their plans. Action stages lean more heavily into responsive platforming once the preparation is complete. This dual structure provides variety, ensuring that the experience does not become overly repetitive. As players advance, they unlock additional magical abilities that expand Ilo’s toolkit. Powers such as flight or time manipulation introduce new variables, gradually increasing complexity without overwhelming newcomers. Visually, Magibot adopts a colorful, cartoon-inspired art style. Environments are bright and clearly defined, ensuring that platforms and hazards are easy to distinguish. The clean presentation supports the gameplay’s logical structure by maintaining readability. Character animations are simple but expressive, reinforcing Ilo’s identity as a small but determined wizard-robot. The soundtrack complements the lighthearted tone, offering upbeat and unobtrusive melodies that keep the atmosphere lively without distracting from the puzzle-solving focus. In terms of scope, Magibot is relatively concise. It does not aim to deliver a sprawling campaign but instead provides a carefully paced series of challenges. Some players may find the overall length modest, particularly if they quickly grasp the planning mechanics. However, the layered design of later stages adds enough depth to maintain engagement. The difficulty curve remains accessible, making it suitable for both casual players and those who enjoy methodical puzzle-platforming hybrids. Ultimately, Magibot stands as a creative experiment within the platforming genre. By merging programmable planning with real-time execution, it offers a refreshing take on level traversal. While it may not redefine the genre or deliver extensive mechanical depth, its cohesive design and charming presentation make it a memorable experience. For players who enjoy combining logic puzzles with platforming action, Magibot delivers a focused and inventive adventure that balances strategy and movement in an approachable way. Rating: 6/10

Not what I expected. It is not terrible, just feels like a mobile game to be honest, didn't click at all.
