While the core concept of an indirect-control fantasy kingdom is unique, the execution in Majesty 2 is a technical disaster that the publisher completely abandoned. The game is plagued by severe, game-breaking bugs that have remained unfixed for over a decade. First and foremost, the game engine is incredibly unstable on modern operating systems. You will regularly experience out-of-memory C++ runtime crashes during longer missions, completely wiping out hours of progress. Even if you manage to keep the game running, the unit AI is fundamentally broken. Heroes frequently resurrect with zero health, causing them to instantly die again or become permanently stuck in front of the cemetery as "ghosts" that take up guild slots. Furthermore, the combat calculations are entirely botched; melee enemies can somehow hit and kill your fleeing squishy heroes (like rogues or elves) from across the screen due to broken attack animations and lack of proper dodge mechanics. Instead of fixing these core engine flaws, the publisher opted to sell unbalanced DLC campaigns that are needlessly frustrating and often fail to integrate properly with the base game files. The pathfinding is atrocious, the balance is a grind-heavy mess, and the refusal to release performance patches makes this game mathematically impossible to recommend. Save your money and avoid this unoptimized frustration.

it can be enjoyable sometimes, mostly it just griefs you with its difficulty on certain levels. i was a huge fan of the first majesty and greatly recommend it to new players. for me this game is sadly a pass, difficulty needs toned down a bit on certain levels. i do remember the original game having codes and for some levels they were needed, but i guess steam for some reason steam disabled the enter button for this game.
