As a Danganronpa fan, I really enjoyed this game. If I had never played Danganronpa before, I probably would have just seen RAIN CODE as a mystery detective game and enjoyed it for what it is. But because I played Danganronpa first, I could really feel the similarities while playing, and honestly, that made me enjoy it even more. It really gave me that Danganronpa feeling. The mysteries, characters, humor, weird situations, and darker moments all felt familiar to me as a fan. At the same time, RAIN CODE has its own identity and doesn't feel exactly the same as Danganronpa. The story also surprised me a lot. There were some really crazy reveals and plot twists that I honestly didn't see coming. Some moments made me stop and think about what was actually happening, and that made the mystery even more fun to follow. The story kept giving me new surprises, and I really enjoyed that. I'm not surprised by the similarities since some of the same writers and creators behind Danganronpa worked on RAIN CODE, but I'm still really happy with how much I enjoyed this game. There were a lot of moments that made me happy, but also some that really hit me emotionally. Especially near the end with Shinigami... that part really made me sad and honestly made me cry. I also really enjoyed exploring the city and solving the different mysteries. The Mystery Labyrinths were a really fun way of turning the detective work into something more unique and entertaining. And that ending... definitely a cliffhanger. After finishing the game, I really want to see what happens next. I really hope we get a sequel someday. I want to see where the story goes, and especially hope we get to see Shinigami again. Definitely recommend this if you're a Danganronpa fan or if you just enjoy mystery and detective games. I had a really fun time with RAIN CODE, and I'm glad I gave it a chance.

Honestly? This game is awesome. The story is awesome and MOST of the cast was awesome (100% MY GOAT Halara) but beneath all the story cast and twists? The game struggles with inputs because the devs only ported the game instead of optimizing it for PC or even xbox controller. This game was originally made in Switch and the devs just simply didn't care. So for anyone reading this. Don't get angry at your stuff. Get angry at the devs

Energetic murder-mystery game. Fun twists on the Danganronpa (and by extension Ace Attorney) formula.

Good game, though there is way toomuch fanservice than the is needed. But i should also mention its very accessible, my age old Crimson 15.11 managed to run this game no probem on highest settings, so yay me. Though again, i just wish there wasnt so much fanservice

I've really loved some past Spike Chunsoft games, from Danganronpa to AI Somnium Files, so when I saw the obvious similarities in the product page I was excited to give Rain Code Plus a try. It pains me to say this, because I really like this studio, but this game just didn't do it for me. I generally don't like visual novels, but I do like mystery games. Even though Danganronpa is very text-heavy, those games really kept me engaged throughout. It's true that Rain Code has a lot of similarities to the series, but I think there are two subtle ways where this one left me behind. First, Danganronpa's story locks you in with its cast of characters, who represent the future victims of its cases. You're invested in every story: who will be killed next? Which of my new friends will become a killer? In Rain Code, you're meandering around this large open area, where the victims and the cases are all strangers (at least in the first couple cases). Because of this, I never felt any tension in the build up to a new case. My second issue is that the cartoony nature of its characters are dialed even higher, where the characters just don't feel very engaging. I didn't find I had any characters I cared about, so the long stretches of dialog were a challenge to push through. In the end, I just didn't feel like I was having fun. The actual mystery solving mechanics were up to par with the other games in its lineage, but the story was just so unengaging that I didn't think the juice was worth the squeeze. Nearing the end of the second case, I asked myself "do I really want to press on and see where this is going?" I did not. With that said, if you're thinking about this game and you haven't tried some of Spike Chunsoft's other titles, I strongly recommend picking up Danganronpa or AI Somnium Files instead. The narratives are great, the mechanics for solving mysteries are fun, and I really dig the heavy stylization the developer uses in their games. That said, if you love visual novels and you loved those games, you're probably the exact audience this game was made for, so ignore my reservations and give it a go!
