So, i was introduced to this game from Markiplier's youtube video many years back. I suddenly remembered this game one day, and decided to play for myself. The premise of Monstrum is that you wake up without any knowledge of where you are. The story of the game is told via lost notes and its environment. The task is simply to escape the desolate cargo ship while being hunted down by a monster. The game is randomly generated in terms of where certain key items may be, and allows you multiple escape routes. Personally the game shines in randomly choosing one of the three monsters you end up facing. Each threat has its own strengths and weaknesses, and requires a different approach. After 100% this game, i can confidently say this makes for a solid horror game. I recommend you give it a spin

i used to watch youtube let's players play this game like a decade ago. i bought it myself years later and expected it to be good like i remembered but i was dead wrong. you wander around a ship with 1 million doors that all look the same to find items. the monsters chasing you are goofy looking rather than scary. and the story in this game is nonexistent. super repetitive and boring door opening simulator

While the game has it's negative moments due to older engine issues and some rather lackluster AI that love to camp the same area over and over again, if you manage to get a good run the game feels so good. Plus while the game is RNG, it's structure has enough anchor structures to help you orient yourself during gameplay. I just got super lucky and even then I enjoyed this a lot.

This game perfectly captures what horror games should be. The dark atmosphere, the constant fear that the monster is lurking around the corner, the uncertainty of which monster is hunting you during a run, and that sense of emptiness on the ship. And when the monster spots you, the game becomes even scarier than you could have imagined. It’s a shame this game no longer receives updates. Even so, it’s an absolute banger and proves that horror games can still be truly terrifying.

Mixed review: I feel like I would really like the game if it wasn't because every corridor and every room looks the same, it's very easy to get lost and I personally really don't appreciate that, it's a huge maze... I would like to beat it at least once! But I don't think it's for me. Also the sound of the lethal steam is really loud and I can't toggle it, that really bothered me.

Мне очень зашёл этот хоррор, атмосфера просто-жуть, когда играл первый раз я толком из шкафа не вылезал, боялся брута и желейки, потом со временем привык к ним, и уже не боялся их, но неожиданно мне попался третий монстр-изверг, я от него так сыковал, он самый страшный монстр как по мне, вообщем игра 10/10, советую

Единственное развлечение здесь — игра в догонялки с большим уебаном, который дебил. Очень весело.
