Before I begin, I'd like to say that I genuinely love the art direction, the "squish, stretch, and contort" mechanics, and the concept of a game where you control a monster's pitch as it plays through a song. It ran smoothly, was relatively bug-free, and featured a lovely cast of characters. A My Singing Monsters rhythm game is a million-dollar idea. Unfortunately, Karaoke is poorly executed. The gameplay itself is flawed. According to several players, it's blatantly copied from another game called Trombone Champ. I can barely see the monsters "squish, stretch, and contort" (apparently one of the main selling points) because the cursor you play the game with is all the way on the left side of the screen and the monster is all the way on the right, so most of the time I only see the monster in my peripheral while trying to hammer out the fast-flying notes. Nothing changes - visually or audibly - when you're getting the notes right or wrong. No particles, no color changes, nothing to encourage or discourage the player and keep them on track, just the constant combination of the MSM soundtrack and colored notes zooming past. The background of the gameplay is a seemingly random animated pattern rather than anything unique to the songs themselves. At the end of the round, you're scored on a three-star system, but it's not explained how many notes you have to successfully hit to get each star. You just get the score and that's it. All of this makes the rhythm gameplay feel bare-bones and more like an Alpha build than a finished game. There's an option to import your own songs (and even an achievement for playing an imported song), but zero guidance on how to do it. I initially thought I needed to import a composer song from the original My Singing Monsters and was confused when I couldn't. Apparently, since Karaoke copies Trombone Champ so closely, the player must download a custom song for Trombone Champ and load it in to Karaoke, which is just embarrassing on BigBlueBubble's part and makes the game feel even more like it was rushed out for a quick buck. On the flip side, being able to play virtually whatever song you want gives the game greater replayability and is more enjoyable than listening to My Singing Monsters' cacophonous soundtrack. (Sorry, MSM fans.) The playable roster is admittedly great and features several lovable monsters from the game, including the cool-as-ice (couldn't resist) newcomer Bbli$zard. However, even the roster is not without its problems. Half of the roster is comprised of the Rare monsters, which - in both the original game and this one - are just visually distinct clones of the original monsters. This half is also locked behind a paid DLC, and in my opinion, it's delusional to make the players pay for the same monsters they're already getting for free except with different aesthetics. Rares aside, Karaoke's rendition of Tweedle is hideous and barely resembles the original monster. Tweedle's vocals also don't mesh well with the gameplay and just sound broken. The game also includes pop-up ads for other My Singing Monsters media, including a full-screen ad for the original game that appears every time the player quits. Overall, Karaoke had and still has a lot of potential, but fell victim to a disastrous launch that exposed the game for what it truly was: a desperate cash grab.

the was one of the least interactive experiences i've had playing a game no scoring system, no combo system, just a "you did it!" after you clear a song i knew this was a ripoff of trombone champ, but STEALING ASSETS APPARENTLY? as someone who was a fan of my singing monsters for over 10 years, this is incredibly disappointing

I do not recommend this game. As a rhythm game, it falls flat in so many ways. Only 8 songs, no way to keep track of how well you're doing, there's no reason to change the monster you play since the charts are the same for all of them. You'd basically be choosing which ones sound less crappy when they're singing the song. It was such a missed opportunity to not have the monsters sing different parts of the song, like the original game does. It feels more like a demo than a full game. Kind of egregious not to have an option to turn down the sound effect volume or the master volume, it sucked to have the menu sounds and music still be loud af even after I turn everything way down. At least the visuals look polished.

Basically a demo for gauging whether or not you'd like Trombone Champ. Might get the game now, honestly

It was a free hour of fun sure, but i'm literally never going to open this game ever again chile i actually love the art direction for the monsters, but the gameplay is just... boring. theres literally no attempt to make the game unique, it couldve been a multiplayer game where each of you controls a different monsters voice, and you build the song like in the original game, this game just doesnt do anything worthwhile, if you want to play trombone champ, just get trombone champ, and if you like the monsters... just play the mobile game. it insists upon existing.... me no like 4/10

Super cute little game. I don't really appreciate the people going to bother trombone champ fans, but it is what it is. I'm sure this just exists as an offshoot of the bbno$ collab, hence why it's free. Still, it would have been nice to see something more inspired. Either way, it's a fun toy for a few hours, so I don't see any reason it shouldn't exist. Bias free section: As a rhythm game, it does not take itself seriously enough to bother taking seriously yourself. As a game it's pretty small in scope. As a trombone champ clone, It's not very close in quality. Overall, pretty objectively mid. It's cute though! I don't see a reason to not play it given the price, but if you like the style go play the game everyone's comparing it to. You'll like it even more.

Charming for all of one song. Basically just Trombone Champ if the instruments were bad, and the charting system barely worked. Offbrand version of Trombone Champ for free, don't play this. Go play that.

this isnt really anything bad, but this is basically trombone champ (same game, mechanics and workshop feature) but you get the msm monsters and while trombone champ is a paid game, this is for free meaning you'd be stealing revenue from trombone champ. also its very easy to 100% and thats funny to me
