Great game! Very cute, I like a lot of it. Positives: - Three different paths. I only experienced one, but they all allow you to progress your rank in different ways - Villagers have lively personalities - Growing and raising the Nimbit is cute and satisfieng, especially once you unlock the coral. - No pressure in the dungeon. Once it's 'Late' time will stop progressing. You can still continue your delve, only the city is asleep. - many different capture devices, which buff your catching chance depending on different variables (time of day, enviromental factors like puddles, debuffs like being on fire, or what you have in your inventory) - You can unlock a feature pretty early on that changes the rules of your next run slightly. Negatives: - The city seems very empty. The people are alive and have personalites, and do their own thing... but you can interact with very little. Gus for example. He gave us a quest to open a geode up, and he has the machine for it in his own house... but that is when Gus stops mattering in the game. He doesn't want anything to do with geodes after that, he doesn't buy then, doesn't process them (like in jewelrey), doesn't collect it, gives no educational infos about the minerals you found, nothing really. - Delving can get a bit boring, sadly. After every section of the depths you are stopped from progression, until you find 4 specific items. Finding those items are depending on your luck, as finding the right fish even in a fishing stage in the right section is not guaranteed. Until you progress you will find very few new Nimbits, the game won't vary all that much in difficulty (and I never fainted anyways, so it could use more challenge), and you won't see all that many new environments. Combine this with the fact that there are very few fighting styles (sword, bomb, fire bomb) and everything starts to feel a little same-y.

I am not a pro gamer, but I am very much a cozy game connoisseur. I understand the usual set up for cozy games- a grandparent gives you a cottage somewhere remote and you become a farmer! I love that trope. HOWEVER- this game is not that. It finally shakes up the status quo of farmlife cozy games. Instead of fighting in a cave, you have a dungeon crawler. Instead of a farm, you have a biodome-like ranch. I also appreciate the step away from pixel-graphics and bringing a fresh look on animation. It reminds me of cult of the lamb, meets pokemon (which is a clear inspiration- in a good way, as it's respectful), meets your typical farm sim game. My only negative critique is that right now, until you have enough nimbits, there isn't a lot to do. It takes a week or two of in-game time to get into the typical grind cycle. However, I don't entirely mind this. So many games over-simplify things, and it's always bothered me slightly. I like a challenge. There's also not a ton of story, but that's to be expected for EA. I can't wait to see more of the game moving forward!

The game is pretty fun, it basically feels like a cross between Stardew Valley and Cult of the Lamb. It feels more like its a rogue-lite than a cozy sim though. Every day has a clock similar to Stardew, and the townspeople move around the town based off the time on the clock, but there is no time limit in a day. After 12pm it just shows "Late" indefinitely, which means you don't have to chose between taking care of Nimbits, doing quests for townspeople, or going to the under wild for the rogue-like mode. Optimally you do everything and start your rogue-like run at night to finish your day off, playing like this essentially makes every day a different "run" since going to the under wild feels more mandatory than optional. However, it's also pretty nice not being pressed for time and feeling like you missed your chances to collect materials because you spent too much time managing your Nimbit habitats or doing quests for townsfolk.

I have absolutely fallen in love with Nimbit Frontier! It has a great balance between dungeon-crawl mechanics and difficulty, combined with the incredibly adorable nimbits you can raise and release. I enjoy the amount of variety of creatures, and the depth of progression that exists in the game currently makes it fun to create the perfect environments to optimize which traits your nimbits inherit. The dungeons are great! The difficulty even on the harder settings doesn't make progression overly difficult. There is a variety of different resources you unlock as you progress, and there isn't any one particular item/mimock that feels impossible to find. I really enjoy learning each mimocks attack patterns and slowly improving the rate I can progress through the dungeons daily. The unlock mechanic for the new areas flows really well, and the differences between each area make running through all of them back to back fun! I especially enjoy that items and artifacts carry over between each level, and that you have to plan your dive in order to optimize getting the artifacts you need to increase tether/gold/essence rates. Raising the nimbits is very unique, and it's done in a style that is similar to other creature keepers in that you create an environment based on each specific nimbit's needs. I enjoy the variety, though learning how to encourage them to learn "courting" behavior took me a bit longer than I expected, if only because i made sure everyone was very spread out. I love the variety in terms of environment and nutrition items, and that some can be purchased while others have to be discovered while diving. The training mechanic combined with the corral makes training enjoyable without becoming overly repetitive. I also enjoy the "teach cry" mechanic, as it's very different and way more interactive compared to using the training treats to guide a nimbit. Along with this, the fishing mechanic is perfectly done, making it really enjoyable to fish and learn how the mechanics work, unlike many other games that make fishing one of my least favorite mechanics. It has a great combination of variety, difficultly, and pricing that makes fishing feel financially worth it. The only thing I really hope to see more work on in the future is the town and townsfolk. Maybe it's because I'm still not at 5 hearts with everyone, but the dialogue feels a little repetitive as time goes on, and it is a little difficult to increase friendship with people without hoping to get a bulletin request from them. I do really enjoy that you can use an active corral as a way to increase friendship, but I wish that was a mechanic you could use for everyone and not just the romance options. I love the different personalities everyone has, and getting to see different short "heart events" is lovely as well! I can't wait to see what I might be missing as I work to get everyone to 5 hearts, but overall the friendship mechanic is the only thing currently that feels like it might be a little lacking for now. I absolutely love the game, and I am very excited to see what will come in the future!

I bought the game after playing 30mins of the demo. Part creature collector, part base management, part rougelike and all charm. Seems to be plently of content in early access and runs really well on Steamdeck

I love this game! The Nimbits are my favorite creatures ever! This game has so much to do in it! The fishing mechanics are fun and challenging! Other games like this made fishing very lame to do. Nimbit Frontier PERFECTED this mechanic! Raising the Nimbits is actually alot of fun! EVERYTHING about this game is PERFECTION! I hope they expand on this game, and add more Nimbits! More mechanics unlocked! Now I am discovering even more in this game that makes it complicated, but in a very fun way!!! Habitats are so much fun! Who knew they could put so much into raising a baby Nimbit into a thriving adult Nimbit who can be released into the wild with skills you personally taught it.

Kinda gives Moonlighter vibes (the first one-not the second) honestly especially the dungeon/caves part, the graphics are cute, characters are alright - but tbf most of the characters kinda lack depth but it's ok. It's a fresh take on collectathon games, I liked it. I didn't try to play it with mouse&keyboard but it really is a breeze to play with a controller.
