Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee

New port for 2016

We've reported the game for 2016, which now runs at 60 FPS, includes higher resolution textures, better quality cut-scenes, improved audio, higher poly models, numerous fixes and improvements, and trading cards, badges, emotes and backgrounds!

About the game

Players guide Mudokon champion Abe, and his aquatic Gabbit partner Munch, in Oddworld's third adventure, using special psychic powers, cool power-ups, and other special abilities to deliver payback as they reclaim the last gabbit eggs on Oddworld, which have been packaged in a can of gabbiar.

Key features:

Play as a team - players use Munch and Abe cooperatively to make their way through the trials of Oddworld. Leverage both characters' unique strengths:

Abe- Abe can climb and jump to reach new areas, and then run to escape from dangerous enemies. When all else fails, chant to take control of the enemy's soul, and use their guns to clear a path to safety.

Munch - Munch can swim around the new realms of Oddworld. When on the ground, zip along with a wheelchair power up. Need to move some yapping Slogs out of the way? Just use Munch's nifty remote control head port to fire up the crane and drop those Sloggies in their pen.

Special psychic powers - Munch and Abe's psychic powers can extend their reach and get others to do the dirty work:

As Abe - Let Abe's chant roar to take possession of a gun-toting Big Bro Slig and clear almost anything out of the way. Abe can use spooce or spiritual power gained byharvesting SpooceShrubs to posses other creatures as well, but why think small?

As Munch - If Abe can't mesmerize someone into getting the job done, Munch can use his handy remote control head port to hijack nearby machines including cranes, and 50-caliber Anesthesia bots to tackle the really tough obstacles.

Power-Ups – Every friendly character you can find becomes a fighting ally, Fuzzles, Mudokons…. Need to get somewhere quickly or get over a wall, like right now? Use Oddworld's consumer power-ups like Expresso and Bounce to amp up Munch and Abe's abilities to perform cool moves. For the more direct approach, possess high-caliber weapon toting enemies.

Oddworld, now in "new and improved 3D!" - it's a whole new Oddworld, with lush rivers, towering mountains and hundreds of trees that bloom or die.

Interact with dozens of different oddball races - use GameSpeak® to get Oddworld's Inhabitants from the heavily armed Big Bro Sligs to the cute but ferocious Fuzzles) to carry out tricky tasks or just beat the crap out of enemies.

"Frustration Free" gaming - Oddworld's new intelligent cinematic camera, auto-targeting system and no-stick navigation system makes playing a breeze! Plus with easy

QuikSave® and limitless lives, players have plenty of chances to take on any situation… no matter how Odd!

The third game in the series with 3d platforming instead of the classical 2d that the first two games had. Still it has all the oddworld flavor to it and introduced likable charachters such as the new main protagonist Munch and expanding the oddworld universe with new areas and creatures. Same as before your ending depends on your actions regarding how many captives you freed. Cutscenes are beautiful and retains a good moral message. Do recommend!

If you like the other Oddworld games with Abe, then you'll most likely enjoy this entry. It's got a top-notch art style and character design: ~ Super unique, and quite ugly but lovable (in the style of Oddworld). Munch is a cool addition, although for a game called "Munch's Oddysee" I expected him to play the starring role. He's an interesting character... but kinda... niche. In most of this game I played as Abe, since he could walk, jump, and run a lot faster, and was just more practical overall. So to me, the game feels more like a continuation of Abe's story with Munch as a side character. The gameplay is relatively cut & dry. It can be quite repetitive in certain places. And I think the game drags on a little bit. But it's fun and has a lot of heart and a cool atmosphere and decent gameplay. This port is definitely "finicky." It's riddled with bugs, but nothing that breaks/crashes the game or ruins the playability. However, sometimes a wall becomes transparent for a second, or the skybox glitches, or the camera gets caught on something. Or the screen will turn tan/grey for a few seconds until you move the camera. Overall, a good game, and a worthy entry in the Oddworld series. When the Oddworld series is mentioned, this one's not really ever talked about- but I don't know why. I think it's underrated.

Now i have a big history with this game in particular, and i do for all the games but this one as a kid i was in a phase where i would watch all the cutscenes of a video game and never play it, so any old game i remember i only watched on youtube, never played, and this game was one of them and i am starting to understand why my child self made that decision because the gameplay oh, the gameplay reeks dude, you have to grind the gameplay for the story and the cutscenes, the cutscenes are some of the best in the series for me, and child me just watched all the cutscenes even the endings Apparently my older brother played this and i watched but i have no memory of that, just the youtube all cutscenes, and i was so obessed with these games, i made figures and drawings, which i still have till this day and i just loved the game even know i never played it, me and my brother would even i guess larp as Abe in our underwear and give ourselves pony tails, brother even told me he pretended our dog was a slog and he ran from her across the house and i do remember those good memories. And fun fact this exact profile picture i am still using till this day is FROM this game, that's how much i charish these games even if they are forgotten probably forever in time As for the game itself, i love the story not the gameplay, the gameplay feels like a proof of concept instead of a actual platformer, like it feels like those nicktoons ass platformers, like that Tak game. And i want to note right now, this is the FIRST time i am ever playing game, i have never touched it, i have no memory of playing it, so i am seeing this first hand after probably years and years After playing, this game has the best cutscenes and story but the gameplay is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ torture and miserable to go through man, this is not fun at all, i do not recommend this game to anyone and just look up the cutscenes on youtube, you will spend 10 hours just trying to solve ♥♥♥♥ 100% This game is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tedious piece of ♥♥♥♥ nightmare, i spent 7 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hours redoing the entire game again and the achievements which i did the requirements FOR didn't appear, this one i will call a bust but i still did the required things, it's a buggy mess of a game and i do not want to play it ever again ♥♥♥♥ no 3/10 - HELP ME MUNCH I'M DROW- *Reload quick save, HELP ME MUNCH I'M DROW- *Reload quick save, HELP ME MUNCH I'M DROW- *Reload quick save, HELP ME MUNCH I'M DROW- *Reload quick save, HELP ME MUNCH I'M DROW- *Reload quick save, HELP ME MUNCH I'M DROW- *Reload quick save, HELP ME MUNCH I'M DROW- *Reload quick save, HELP ME MUNCH I'M DROW- *Reload quick save
