Öoo<-Öo<-Ö Great puzzle game with metroidbrainia elements. All puzzles are fair and not too complicated. The game has only one mechanic and uses it to the max, which is hard to execute as a developer but feels so satisfying to experience as a player. It's a short ~2–3 hour game with ~1–2 hours of extra secret puzzles that make use of the most obscure games mechanic elements.

Not a bad game but pretty sparse for the price. I beat it in under 2 hours. I wouldn't say the music or puzzles blew me away or anything. If I had played this for free on itch.io, I definitely wouldn't have regretted my time, but again I've played plenty of better games for free. Game is reasonably well polished, but just SO short.

Amazing level design. Even though your abilities don't expand, you naturally discover all the new things you can do with the two bombs as you play. Sometimes you understand a new skill without even realizing you're learning—the knowledge just flows effortlessly into your mind. Every single corner of every level serves a purpose. I've never felt an author's presence, intent, or even sense of humor so vividly through level design before. A truly fantastic experience.

It's hard for me to talk about why I liked Öoo so much without spoiling some key aspects of the game's design that change the way you play if you know about them beforehand, so here's the short non-spoiler-y version: Öoo is a very good puzzle game that I think deserves its 99% "Overwhelmingly Positive" score here on Steam. It does a great job of teaching you about all the tools at your disposal purely through the level design, and it's good at making you feel clever when you figure out how to use those tools to solve the "bigger" puzzles, so to speak. The whole thing is nice and tightly designed, able to be cleared in just 2-3 hours, and I'd say it's well worth both the time and money to play. If you're still not sure if this is the right kind of puzzle game for you, or you just want to know what exactly makes it so good, here's the more spoiler-y version: On the surface, the gameplay is fairly simple. The central mechanic in this game is a pair of regenerating bombs that acts more like a multi-tool; and by "central", I mean that you don't even have a jump button and need to use the bombs to propel yourself upward or across gaps. This is the only tool at your disposal, and once you unlock the second bomb, it's a pretty direct path down to the end of the game that you can just bum rush your way through—but only if you know how. It's another one of those games where your only major barrier to progression is your knowledge of the game's deeper mechanics, and Öoo makes great use of this design philosophy. Have you ever used an in-game hint system or walkthrough where they start by giving you vague hints about what to do, then give you more and more specific ones until it finally just spells out the answer? That's the best way I can describe the level design after zone 1. Each one starts with a blocked path to the next zone and an open path leading deeper into the current zone, which consists of puzzles designed teach you a new way to utilize your bombs. Side note, one of my favorite things about Öoo is that it manages to teach you every new mechanic without a single written tutorial, instead using the level design to nudge you in the right direction while trusting that the player is smart enough to put the pieces together themselves. Once you've demonstrated your full understanding of a zone's new mechanic by solving every puzzle, you're sent back to the start to use what you've learned to open the blocked path, and this is when you realize that the solution was hiding in plain sight and you could have opened the path at any time. In fact, if you happen to catch on to what a zone is teaching you fast enough, you can just turn around to open the blocked path and skip the rest of that zone entirely. It's a neat system that lets the player move forward as soon as they feel they're ready and makes them feel clever for figuring out the solution regardless of how many "hints" they were given from that zone's puzzles. Choosing how much information to give the player in a puzzle game is a difficult balancing act, and Öoo manages to navigate that exceptionally well. Beating the game should only take about 2-3 hours, and there are no optional or missable achievements to worry about. The only optional thing of note that I could find is a set of golden statues buried in hidden rooms throughout the map, but these don't have achievements or even an in-game counter tied to them. I found 2 of the 24 by accident—I didn't even know there were more until I saw a guide showing off the rest—but once I learned how tough some of these can be to find (e.g. one of them can only be found if you manage to straight-up break the game, like using a HEX editor on the game's EXE), I didn't bother with the rest. Öoo is an excellent puzzle game, one that takes full advantage of its limited game mechanics and respects the player's intelligence with each one it aims to teach. I really don't know what else I can say to convince you to pick it up if I haven't done so by now. Buy it now, wait for a sale, whatever you think is worth it to you. Öoo is quite simply one of the best designed games I’ve ever played. The way it derives so may mechanics from 2 actions, the way it methodically teaches you its mechanics and yet makes you feel like a genius for discovering them. This is one of those games I’d recommend to literally anyone. I imagine game design classes will be studying it. Oh and the music and visuals are just so gorgeous.

很有意思的游戏,量不大,玩了三遍,除了 i want to eat the sun的彩蛋都拿了,主线难度很亲民,会教会你大部分的技巧,隐藏稍微难一点,思考解题的过程非常有趣,无需多言的好游戏
