I've been playing strategy RPG games like this one, where you manage an small army of murderhobos and lootgoblings for the greater part of 3 decades now, from Ogrebattle 64 and GameBoy's Fire Emblem, all the way to an honestly unhealthy amount of re-runs of X-COM 2. And with all that experience in a very specific niche, I can say without fear, that in my humble opinion, this game is out there among the best ever made. It is easily the best one of the genre that have came out in the past few years (the new Fire Emblem isn't out yet, so maybe this may change to "just" second best). Speaking of Humble, that is how I got this game btw, and I strongly advise that you get this game over there as far as possible if you are low on money (the game is worth full price, but we all live in a doomsday economy). Now back to the game. Do not let the "Adventure Quest" esque visuals trick you into thinking this is a shallow game. I just finished my first run after almost 100 hours. Sure, I was aiming for all achievments in a single run (missed 2 or 3 I think), but even a rushed run would net you around 60+ hours to reach the final fight with a decent enough team. And if you're going for the hardest modes challenge, I bet this could reach 200+. The game have mechanics stacked over mechanics galore!! Each adventurer have attributes, traits, classes, mood dispositions, friendships, love interests, hated rivals, skill trees and equipmants in such a variety, that even if you were to build the exact same party twice, chances are you would still have 2 different experiences. So for those who enjoy depth and build making, theorycrafting, and planing ahead, this is a full plate. At the same time, everything is easy to understand and visualize. Not once have I seen an effect, ability or interaction that I didn't knew how it was supposed to work, so the game is simultaneously newbie-friendly, and veteran pleaser on higher difficulties. Combat is dinamic, positioning is always very important, as both you and the enemies can manipulate movement, push and pull targets, flank, AoE and/or nuke isolated targets. Another point for this game is the story. Very often, the story becomes a side dish on such games, with some of them defending themselves behind the "create your own story" umbrella. And boy, I am glad that Our Adventure Guild didn't do that! The story in this game is absurdly well written, with a mix of serious tones and comedy, and some gut-wrenching moments. Do you know how hard is to perfectly balance comedy and seriousness while keeping the suspension of disbelief stable? (DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IS TO MAKE ME CRY WHILE LOOKING AT ADVENTURE QUEST LOOKING CHARACTER?!! WELL, IT SHOULD'VE BEEN DAMN NEAR IMPOSSIBLE, AND YET THIS GAME MADE ME CRY AT LEAST TWICE!) Story so well made, that I'll even pretend I didn't notice the """"inspired by 40k"""" design of one certain character (it is cool though, Games Workshop also """"got inspired"""" by a lot of other IPs). As for the more technical aspects of the game, well, it is a 2d turn based game with zero CGI or the need of Lumen or DLSS5, so it is safe to say it will probably run on a large potato wired to 2 zinc coins and a monitor. Not once I say any form of lag, crashes or bugs. Music can be a bit repetitive sometimes, since the song is based on which type of terrain the quest is (or if you're in the guild hub), but it is never annoying, it vanishes well in the background. All in all, this is a 10/10 game, with a the same singular note I had 30 years ago when I finished Ogrebattle for the first time: "My only regret is that it has an end, else I'd play it forever!" ======================================================== Now, this part here is for the devs, in case they ever read this review: ...Do I know you? Like, do we know each other from somewhere? Because there are some plot elements of this game that are hilariously similar to some events that transpired on my own life. So either you're someone I met back in college, or I just went throught an amazingly well written list of several coincidences. Whatever the case may be, once again, great game, and I will be looking forward for your next one!

Great ideas, terrible balancing I really like the roles, jobs, character progression and guild interactions. The game has a lot of potential, especially for a one-man project. The economy can be harsh, my party of 5–6 adventurers already costs around 1,200 gold per day — but that is not my main issue. The real problem is the balancing. After “Save the Village”, the difficulty suddenly explodes. 3-star quests appear, while even a fairly expensive and developed party struggles to win basic encounters. It honestly feels like the game expects you to avoid combat, especially in combination with the injury system, which can punish you heavily even after fights you actually win. In an elite encounter on a 2 star mission i faced 15 spiders who webbed me and stun locked me it was immpossible. The presentation and art style are extremely rough, but I could easily forgive that in a small indie project. The balancing, however, makes the game almost unplayable for me on Normal. Huge respect for the developer, because there is clearly a very good game underneath all of this, it just desperately needs better difficulty progression and whole lot better presentation in terms of art style, characters and Animations. Edit: The troll mission ist the next and the bandit king the next extemeley unbalanced jump i know it's one dev but come on this game is super grinde heavy and the balance has nearly no progression at all. Shame the potential here hopefully a sequel with a lot better balancing and a much need premium art upgrade will do the trick.

The game was fun overall, but I found a few areas where I think it could be improved: 3-star missions are noticeably harder than 2-star missions. I imagine a lot of players get stuck at this point. For me, this was the most difficult part of the game, and everything after that felt progressively easier. The game is marketed as a guild management game, but there are multiple incentives to focus on managing just one main party, with a few extra members assigned to gathering, exploration, or other secondary missions. I think it would be much better if the game encouraged players to manage multiple parties simultaneously. The upkeep cost of having two or more parties is very high, it's not always clear how to obtain certain crafting materials, there's no content that requires enough specialization to justify having dedicated parties for different activities, and it's difficult to keep EXP balanced so that one party doesn't end up significantly stronger than the others. On the other hand, I barely made any meaningful use of the recruitment system. I had plenty of members who seemed very promising, but there are some issues here as well. The time investment required for new recruits to join the main party is too high. If I had a character constantly leveling up while waiting to join, by the time they finally caught up with the main party, it would have already completed an entire tier of content and moved on to the next one. There are also plenty of traits that the main party and its members will naturally acquire over time. As a result, even characters who weren't particularly impressive at the beginning will likely end up becoming very strong simply through progression, which makes recruiting new guild members feel rather pointless. The title system and the final ascensions don't make much sense either. They further discourage creating additional parties, since so much of your power ends up being concentrated in specific classes or titles that are restricted to a single character. The crafting systems and variety of weapons are interesting, but quite often, boss drops were better than crafted weapons from the next tier. Because of this, towards the end of the game, I had very little incentive to upgrade my gear, especially since the stat differences weren't particularly significant. There's also very little incentive to fully explore maps. Many encounters feel tedious, and the rewards are mediocre, so it's simply more efficient to rush through the objectives and move on. Another thing that confused me was that the crafting item list doesn't update until you obtain new materials. In other words, I couldn't tell what items I could potentially craft until I actually acquired the required materials, even with the "Only Show Craftable" option disabled. This sometimes led me to keep farming certain mobs unnecessarily because I thought I might unlock something new. Unique consumables also discourage using other characters, since their power and effectiveness end up being concentrated in the main party. I see a lot of potential in this game, and I genuinely think that with some changes along these lines, it could become much better. I also noticed there's now a New Game+ option, so I'll be giving that a try as well to see how it goes. This review is based on the base game, without any DLC.

A decent TRPG, nothing to complain about, nothing particularly worth praising, a classic TRPG with a generic story, gameplay and some added hit or miss comedy dialogue. But oh man, I hate the way it looks. It looks like fanart made by a 14yo for the isekai anime they love. Giving that it's a 2D game, turn based and tile based, looks should be a little bit more important, imo. But we can't discuss taste and this con is a little bit superficial, so it's overall a decent game.
