It isnt worth spending real money on this, nor is it worth the effort to grind for in-game currency; almost every server is overrun with bots used for real-money trading, and SEGA has absolutely no intention of doing anything about it. In-game reports are useless, and the ones submitted via the website practically ask for the bot's birth certificate... just to *consider* doing something about it—*not* to actually take action, just to think about doing something.

Great combat, beautiful character customization and a world that should be amazing to explore. Unfortunately, it somehow ends up feeling emptier than it looks. So much potential, but not enough reason to stay.

I regret all 975 hours of this game. It was moderately fun back in like 2018/2019 and I played it. I waited for QoL stuff and new areas (which at the time came slow) and when they did come it was not great after a week or so of grinding them. Drop rates for specific things are terrible and never going to be better than they were almost 10 years ago. Looking at the "newer" state of the game and the discussion forums and whats going on... its the same thing as before - Devs are only interested in pumping out new cosmetics to keep their smut subs happy. "heres a almost naked costume again this month for 19.99" but no actual gameplay improvements or quality updates. Every new zone they add follows the same path to gearing up as the one before - and you dont even have to know how to play the game because the bosses are so easy that even if 1-2 ppl know what they are doing, they will still kill it. Its not a good MMO - I wouldnt even call it a fun MMO. I only spent the amount of time I did because I was invested for so many years and I hate the idea of being invested into something and quitting and losing my investment - NOT this game. I was happy to leave and never look back. I regret buying anything toward this game / but I am also happy I will never give it another dollar too.

A waste of time. It's garbage, repetitive, it's not worth equipping, the free gear is enough to enter any quest. The problem is that there are RMT bots, Sega does not plan to do anything against that. Bots exist on all ships, they enter any quest to spam dodge without doing no damage. In-game reports are useless. And now they are filling the servers with private rooms to sell currency.

A nightmarish fever dream fueled by discord mods that certainly own anime body pillows of an ancient, and all powerful being that's 10,000 years old but takes the form of a 14 year old girl. If you liked PSO or PSU, pretend this doesn't exist. Unless of course you want to reinforce your love for the previous titles. It has been streamlined in a way where the only efficient way to play the game is join lobbies full of people who will be 300' in front of you one-shotting everything. Wasted days of my life hoping it would get better... Learn from me.

This game should be studied in how to send an incredible game into the ground. PSO2 Classic needs to come back in a big way frankly, and NGS needs to be...sequestered.

Sega is too busy milking gacha systems to make a good Phantasy Star game anymore and people are too stupid continuing to pour money into them. PSO2/NGS are drowning in cash‑grab monetization — something players have been calling out for years..... Here’s a better idea: Remaster PSO Blue Burst. No gacha. No cash‑shop garbage. Just the classic game people actually loved. Fans have been begging for it, and a proper remaster would do more to rebuild Sega’s reputation than another AC Scratch rotation ever will......
